Silvi Paese is absolutely wonderful! The view from the terrace of this home is magnificent and you can see the whole Adriatic coast. This villa is newly redecorated and very comfortable. The stroll in the village is relaxing and there are four great restaurants just a few minutes from the Villetta-even a Ristorante del Buon Ricordo-Ristorante Vecchia Silvi! We loved our stay and have recommended Villetta Susana and Silvi to our friends for a wonderful Italian getaway.

Five of us stayed in the villa and had a fabulous time. The pictures can't capture the unbelievable view from the 2 rooftop terrraces. Although We had some really great meals in the town We loved just sitting on the terrace in the evenings with local foods and wine from the market down the street. Everyone in the town was so nice even though We don't speak Italian well and not too many people spoke English, it was never a problem. It made us feel like We were really in Italy living like Italians and not just visitng tourist attractions. My husband's family was from a nearby town and the caretaker of the villa, Lorenzo, drove us to the town and did some interpreting. Lorenzo and his wife were such nice people and their help made the trip just perfect. The beach is just a few minutes away and is beautiful. You can't go wrong spending some of your vacation at the Villa, and is a great combination with spending time in Rome which is only 2 hours away.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

This home is built into a castle wall (you can see a section of the original, circa-1100 stone wall in the exposed feature area in the den). The main floor has a combo living room/dining room/kitchen. Off that is the bathroom and the master bedroom with doors opening to a small balcony overlooking the town square (not noisy) and also giving a view far down the Adriatic coast. Upstairs there’s a bedroom, bathroom, den and outdoor terrace offering another “omigosh” view. Outdoor stairs from that terrace take you up to another, smaller terrace from which you can also see church bells immediately to the west or stretch your view to the eastern horizon far across the Adriatic. The home is in Silvi Paese, the old traditional town on the hill. 300 metres below on the Adriatic coast is Silvi Marina, a modern seaside resort area (excellent sand beaches and warm water). Laid out as a flat oval, the old town is a joyously walkable pastiche of compact dwellings, many built into the ancient stone wall that surrounded the castle. From the 250-metre-long main street, six- to eight-foot-wide laneways lead to dwellings and to a perimeter road. Scanning the coastline as you stroll along this road, you can see north and south to a vastly distant horizon. Landside, the view encompasses distant mountains and nearby rolling, verdant hills with lots of olive groves. Forget about glancing at your wristwatch – just listen to the lovely dongs (one at a quarter after; two at half past; three at a quarter to; and, on the hour, the corresponding number). All from the bell tower of the 12th century church just two doors away. It’s easy to become a belloholic here. While you won’t have to watch your watch, you will have to watch your waistline because there’s a gelato shop next door. Yummy! Our kids are all grown up, but we if I did have young children, we wouldn’t hesitate to bring them here. Italians love children and you’ll see lots of them – many live in the old town. Driving tips: all Italian males love Ferraris and on the road, many pretend they are driving one. Why else would so many pass while driving on your side of the line? They must figure a near miss signals great and daring expertise. I didn’t mind – makes for invigorating driving! The roads are in great condition, but signs can be confusing. Special tips: the owners know the area intimately and can give you wonderful ideas on how to make the most of your vacation, including short side trips to nearby ancient towns.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.

Enjoyed staying here for two weeks. The home is up-to-date and clean - sleeping was very comfortable with the beautiful night breeze and ceiling fans in both bedrooms. Really enjoyed eating on the terrace with the beautiful view of the Adriatic. Finding close parking (month of August) was often a challenge when we returned in the evening. Also, the dishwasher was not operational, the frig is small (like those used in college dorms), and if you're going to watch TV in the sitting room near the kitchen, the sofa is more like a love-seat - seats only two.

Whoever first said "you can see forever" must have spent time on this terrace. The mountains behind you, the ocean before you and the green coast stretching away forever in the other directions. We stayed for three days in July of 2009. I really can't tell you what the restaurants in the village or vicinity were like because we were not interested in eating anywhere but on our terrace with its magnificent view. This beautifully renovated villa sleeps six comfortably with great cooking facilities. We managed to keep our visits to the gelatto shop downstairs to twice a day. Stroll down the street for 60 seconds and enjoy another perspective on the view that people drive from miles around to see. Spend your mornings down on the beach, a five-minute car ride away. Spend your afternoons driving away from the ocean back towards the mountains and exploring peaceful villages perched on hilltops. Spend your evenings on the terrace looking down on the town's main square or looking at forever.

Our Italian holiday on the Adriatic coast was magnificant due in large part to our accommodations at "Villetta Susanna" in Silvi Paese. The house is newly decorated, beautifully appointed and situated in a quaint town. All amenities were carefully provided. The house affords a family privacy, as the second bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and terrace are located on the second floor. The owner of the property is most cordial and accommodating and the booking process went smoothly. The property managers in Silvi Paese offered us their most generous hospitality as well as their knowledge of the town and region. We also tremendously enjoyed our interaction with the residents of the town. I would higly recommend a stay at "Villetta Susana" for a unique Italian getaway. If I have the opportunity to visit the Abruzzo region of Italy again, I would book my accommodations at "Villetta Susana." Bon voyage!
