Big thank-you to Colleen and the owner for letting us stay at this beautiful house for our bachelor party. A few highlights: 1) The Pool and hot tub: we spent a sunny saturday jumping in the pool, playing with pool toys, and playing cornhole poolside; the hot tub seats 8 guys comfortably, and you could add 4 or 5 to that easily if your gathering was co-ed. 2) The living room area: double glass doors open poolside, making it easy to feel like you're involved in the action even if you're inside. 3) Comfort: the house is spacious and comfortable, with bedrooms on 3 levels; "sleeps 15" comfortably with some bed-sharing. We had 15 guys, and ended up with a couple on the floor. Great views from balconies. Large gas grill. Fireplace for warming up and drying off after a dip in the pool. 4) Location: Property is located in a wide-streeted neighborhood with an abundance of parking available. We were a somewhat rowdy bunch, but had no problems with neighbors complaining about noise. House is conveniently close to the Gaslamp district, which has anything you could be interested in as far as entertainment. It took as about 5 - 10 min with traffic to get there in a cab. We ate dinner at the "Gaslamp Strip Club," a grill-your-own steak house. Recommended. Summary: Our only nitpick was that the patio speakers were broken, so no music through the sound system. Bring an ipod dock or stereo for outside and you'll be just fine. We had some issues with the hot tub on our first day, but Colleen responded promptly to our concerns, and had the spa back up and running when we returned from an afternoon go-kart session. Overall, a terrific weekend at a beautiful house in great location! We would do it again!

We had been looking for a house to rent in San Diego for weeks and since we had special needs it was quite difficult. This rental to the rescue! They accommodated us and the house was perfect. My friends keep saying "thank you" to me for finding such an amazing place to relax. The house was big enough for a large group while still providing privacy. We made a few large meals in the kitchen and had no problem finding everything we needed. The spa and pool were perfect for us too!

This house was great for our family reunion. The location was close to a lot of activities we wanted to do such as Sea World and Balboa Park. It reflected the photos on the site so we knew what to expect. It was clean when we arrived and had pretty much anything we needed for the week. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a house for 12+ people. It exceeded our expectations so much that we might come back again!

We were visiting The Retreat with our three sons at the end of a holiday spent in hotels. This spacious house provided all the amenities we needed for a relaxing break. Pool was very generous size and hot tub a treat! Each of our boys enjoyed their own room with individual TV s. House conveniently located for our various visits -San Diego Zoo, Little Italy, Coronado,Mission Beach,La Jolla etc.

This house is perfect for a relaxing, comfortable stay in San Diego. We took a taxi to/from the airport. We were able to have great family dinners by the pool and smores by the built in firepit. My business partner and I were there for a conference, but were able to bring our families. There was plenty of room for everyone. It was a great working vacation! Thank you Mark!

Mark the owner had exceeded all of my expectations. We originally tried to book our trip with another house in the area that was a little less expensive. We quickly learned that paying a little extra for a better home and a more accommodating home owner was well worth it. I had booked the previous home two months in advance but received a call (10 days before our vacation) that the owner had double booked the home and we were out of luck. The previous owner didn’t even apologize or offer us any alternative options. It was at that time that I came across Mark's home. There was a night and day difference working with Mark versus our old home owner. Mark was responsive, easy to work with and an all around great guy. He took the time to understand our situation and was overly accommodating to our needs. We had a little glitch with the hot tub (which we caused) and Mark took time out of his Saturday to fix it for us. Again he really made his home feel like our own. Thank you Mark. In regards to the home we couldn't have asked for a better place. It felt like our own little oasis for the weekend. It was newly remodeled, spacious, and clean. The home had the best patio that I have ever seen. Our group especially liked the fact that the home was secluded enough that we never felt the neighbors were an issue. We truly felt as if we had a perfect home. I highly recommend this home.

We had our two sons and their two children for a December holiday. The weather ranged from hot to cool, but each day was wonderful. The house was big enough for everyone to have space. The upstairs master was more than we expected. Comfortable beds and dramatic furnishings. The kitchen was very well equipped and provided a place to relax and enjoy cooking together in the evenings. We would recommend it highly

My family stayed at this property over the Thanksgiving holiday and had a wonderful time. The house is well maintained, nicely appointed, and quite comfortable. It affords a large family the opportunity to seek out a quiet space or to join in the family activities. The back yard is gorgeous with a fire pit, hot tub and pool. The San Diego skyline - it just sparkles - is gorgeous and best viewed from the upstairs suite. Sunrises are a treat no matter where you are in the house. The owner is most gracious and quite helpful. This property is highly recommended and happily exceeded our expectations.

We recently rented this property as a family gathering place for our daughter's destination wedding. We were not disappointed. The neighborhood is quiet and centrally located between downtown and Old Town. The listing was spot on. We were not disappointed with this choice. The property was ready for our arrival and all instructions given were accurate. The owner was easily accessible and made sure everything went smoothly. You will enjoy your stay here. There's nothing not to like about it. If you are looking for restaurants, we recommend The Old Spaghetti Factory and The Field both located downtown in the Gaslamp District. Some of our guests also visited Sea World, Coronado, and LaJolla during their stay. Plenty to see, do and enjoy.

This house was everything we had hoped for and more in a vacation house for our large group of friends. The house was in a great location near the airport and downtown. The pool and hot tub were a huge hit and we especially enjoyed the outdoor gas fire pit. This house is perfect if you want a relaxing hotel like environment but the privacy that comes with not having to share it with anyone else!

Just finished a long weekend stay at this property, where we hosted a number of out-of-town visitors. The place more than met our expectations .... it is super convenient to the airport, freeways and pretty much anything else you'll want to visit while in San Diego. And if you chose to stay home, as we did for large parts of the weekend, you'll have a blast .... everyone in our group loved the home, particularly the backyard. We spent many days looking for places to host our visitors ... and can say with a great deal of confidence that this house has little, if any, competition!

We recently stayed at the Hawk Street Hacienda with our children and grandchildren for nine wonderful days. We couldn't have found a property more perfectly suited to our needs. Every place we wanted to visit (Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Gas Lamp District, Coronado, etc.) were within a few miles of the home. The home itself is beautifully maintained, and Mark and Drew were so accommodating and mindful of our needs. Everyone was excited to return in the evening to enjoy the gorgeous backyard pool, jacuzzi and BBQ. The kitchen was exceptionally well-stocked and spacious enough for all of us to prepare our meals. There were fourteen of us, and we had plenty of very comfortable bedrooms as well. We would readily recommend this property to anyone, and we hope to return ourselves again one day.

The Hawk Street house made our vacation. We had many family members (from ages 9 to 75) in town for a family wedding and this was the perfect choice for us to get everyone together in one house who had different agendas but wanted to be together. The house itself was very up-to-date, clean and stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub and fire pit daily and the location couldn't have been more perfect. You were about a 10 minute drive to anything, & centrally located. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly and just a call away if needed. A must if staying in San Diego - will reccommend!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hawk St. house, it was beautiful! There were 12 of us and we were very comfortable and spread out throughout the house. The pool and hot tub were a favorite among the kids! It was in a great location, close to most of the attractions we had planned to visit, such as the Zoo, Sea World and La Jolla. We had everything we needed at the house and Drew (the property mgr) was very helpful during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the house over Easter and had an excellent experience. Jacuzzi time, really nice kitchen, big screen TV's around the house, and enough rooms (we didnt even use all of them) for the family. Mark was quick to respond, and everything was at the house already, even Ketchup ! highly recommend.

I can't thank the Hawk Street Hacienda Team enough for making our family vacation so wonderful. The property was immaculate and had all the comforts of home. We had 6 adults and 4 children and everyone had enough space to celebrate together or relax alone. The pool and hot tub were everything we could have imagined. When we had a question about something, Drew was immediately available and was more than willing to help make our stay everything we had hoped for. The location is PERFECT! So accessible to everything that San Diego has to offer!! Mark and Drew - we can't thank you enough for making this the best vacation ever, for each and every one of us!! If we make it back to the West Coast, you will be our first call. THANK YOU!!!!

There's no place like home and that is how you feel when you are in this house. I didn't want to sleep for fear of missing the views. Incredible. The artwork and real crystal wine glasses added that special touch. Hey, its the little things. The kitchen was overstocked with spices and the little things you always forget about. Not to mention pool and jacuzzi. We loved the fact that we were 1 mile from everything. Little Italy, downtown San Diego, airport, convention center and Old town. So much to do and see. We will be back. Thanks for everything.

The location at the top of Mission Hills provides amazing views day and night. If you like running you're just a couple miles from the beach, Balboa Park and the bay. There is also great Italian food down the road in Little Italy. We'd stay here again in a heart beat!

It was located very near to many tourist attractions, but was also wonderful for those who wanted to relax in comfort by the pool all day. I would recommend it to any group. The fittings and furnishings are all top quality, the rooms are spacious, the pool and spa are fantastic, and Mark was wondeful to work with. I hope to visit again.

The house was perfect for entertaining my entire family with a great kitchen, pool and spa, and enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accomodate us all. When we did feel the need to leave we were just a few short miles to many activities such as the beach, bay, Seaworld, the zoo, grocery stores, the airport, downtown, and shopping. We had a great time reconnecting as a family in this fabulous home and plan to do it again!

We had the most pleasant stay at the Hawk Street Hacienda. The pictures only begin to show the best about this house. Our party of 10 enjoyed all of the amenities. The layout of the house flowed nicely from the kitchen into the family room and out to the pool. The backyard is simply amazing and was enjoyed by all. The location is conveniently located for freeway access, the airport or the beach. The owner, Mark, is very easy to work with and answered all of our questions promptly. We were very pessimistic about renting this property since we had never done this before. We had nothing to fear. The place is beautiful. It has everything thing you need. It felt like a home away from home. Mark was amazing. My son called him to ask a few question the 2nd day we were there and he came down personally to help. The kitchen cupboards are full of all kinds of sauces and spices. This was the most enjoyable vacation we have had ever.My 2 grand daughters loved the house. We were there for a business convention and the little kept on saying, let's go back to Mark's home. I highlt recommend this property. If we go back to San Diego, this is difinitely the place we would stay. The view is fantastic. The pool and the hot tub with the water fall is very relaxing. Thanks Mark for letting us use your home. We had a group of 5 adults staying at the Hawk Street Hacienda, and this was simply the most beautiful house I've ever vacationed in. The views from the balcony are amazing - both of downtown and the Pacific ocean. The bedrooms are very spacious, and the master bedroom is just exquisite. We spent a lot of time in the large open kitchen, just a great place to hang out where you can see everything. Of course the pool & jacuzzi were fantastic as well, and the night lighting in the pool + waterfall is absolutely relaxing. Everything we needed was already provided - We are definitely coming back next year Mark, viva la Hawk Street Hacienda!

The most loved feature was that of the jacuzzi and pool. The changing lights and waterfall made it all the more exciting. There was plenty of room for all so no fighting for a bed which was very pleasant. The kitchen was being used all of the time also-- no eating out was necessary. Wow! From the initial entrance I knew my family would enjoy staying at Hawk St. Hacienda. The gorgeous balcony views of downtown San Diego, the ocean, and the cliffs of Point Loma provided a visual and stunning landscape outside the rental property, however, the views from within the house were just as magnificent. The secluded landscaping, large pool/hot tub, large open kitchen (we only dined out ONCE!) and overall breezy layout of the house complimented our vacation with nothing but superb and luxurious amenities. Thanks for providing such a wonderful and hospitable place to stay while enjoying the company of those I love most. I'm looking forward to reserving for next year!

We stayed in this home last weekend and it was AMAZING. The pool/jacuzzi are great...the waterfall and changing colored lights in the pool are beautiful at night. Speaking of night, the view off of the master bedroom is gorgeous at night - you can see downtown all lit up. BBQ / Bar area outside is great for day time entertaining too. Cab fare to downtown or to the train station is $10 with tip! Bathrooms are large, rooms are comfy/clean and the kitchen has everything you need (including spices). You will get lost in this house - it took us a day to get the layout straight! There's definitely room to get "lost" if you want or plenty of room to gather as a group in the comfy living room with the L shaped couch and flat screen television. Everything you want in a vacation home. We didn't want to leave! Excellent Excellent Excellent VRBO home! Amy

Dear Mark, When you said "you won't want to leave"- you were right. My family ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR HOME! This was our first experience renting from a homeowner and you made it so pleasant we don't think we'll ever stay in a hotel again. Your home was all that you describe on the website and more... we could not have been more impressed with the gorgeous backyard oasis. We couldn't get the kids out of the pool! In fact we canceled a few of our planned sightseeing trips and just stayed at the house- saved us a lot of money on waterpark tickets and much safer than the ocean :-) Thanks again for making our vacation so wonderful and we hope to make this an annual event. See you next year... J

Wanted to let you know that we had a great time at your home in San Diego this past week. The photos looked great in the ads, and we were worried that it wouldn't live up to how it looked online. However, the place was great. We loved the decor, we loved the pool (especially our kids loved the pool; adults loved the hot tub and pool), and we loved the location - it was remarkably close to everything. Would definitely stay here again if we return to San Diego (which we will).

Mark, We were late returning (plane canceled) or I would have written sooner. The house worked out great for us! Everyone had a wonderful time together and the pool was excellent. The children loved it and the rafts were just terrific. The dryer was constantly going as our beach towels never got a chance to dry. I think there were plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. The grill was also great, need a new brush perhaps. The top bunk bed could use a siderail to prevent a child from rolling off. Nice touch to have some children's books there. You have done a very nice job decorating. The house was so convenient to every where we were going. Hope everything was left o'k and we are welcome to return. Beverly
