Why the Owner Chose St. Augustine
This home has been a favorite of mine for 20 years. I had the opportunity to purchase it in 2004 and could not resist. The location is perfect for a visit to St. Augustine. It is located in the historic district, but just a block or two from the traffic area. The drive over to the beach is a breeze... It is beautiful. It is comfortable and homey. I always hate to leave.
The Unique Benefits of this House
I often park my car and not use it for days. It is convenient to everything. The beauty of the huge oak trees still blows me away. The sound of the church bells from Memorial Presbyterian, two blocks away, is a delight. I love early evening strolls through downtown. It is as if you have escaped to another centuray. The architecture is stunning.

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year 2011. Really loved the location...4-5 blocks from St. George St. and walking distance to most everything. The house is well-equipped with most everything you need. Clean and comfortable and lots of room...plus it looks better on the inside than the outside. It is also pet-friendly and we were able to bring our small dog who loved to walk to the Paradise Poochie each morning for her treat. Would stay here again. There is only one full bathroom so if you have more than 2-4 people it could be difficult to manage. A WORD OF WARNING!!! The driveway is VERY narrow...a curb on one side and the house on the other. Up near the fence gate there is a plumbing pipe on the outside of the house. From the inside of your car you cannot see that there is a large, threaded screw that sticks out low from the pipe about 6 inches. I did about $2,000 worth of damage to the side of my car while backing out. DO NOT pull up near the gate unless you are in a very small car.
Owner response: Hi Stan: I am thrilled that you loved our home! And sorry to hear that you drove into the pipe sticking out from the house. Glad you wrote this warning! The Historic District homes that do have on-site parking, and many do not, were designed for horse and carriage. That was the common mode of transportation when the home was built, and, therefore the narrow driveway. Thank you, again, for choosing The Historic Bungalow as your family get-away. We hope to have you back in the future. Candy

The best part about this house is the proximity to downtown St. Augustine - it is maybe a short, 3 block walk! We stayed for a weekend and never used our car until it was time to go. Great value for the price, and we loved the enclosed, beautiful backyard. The house itself was large, clean and had everything we needed. The only negatives were that it never got quite cool enough in there for us, even though we had the A/C on the whole weekend (this was August), and we found the layout of the house to be a little unusual... although this is not a negative, really just a quirk of the house! I would highly recommend buying a several-day trolley pass to see the sights -- it's free and easy to just jump off and on to check out the town and attractions like the museums and winery. We also loved the "Haunted Pub Tour" - a fun way to see the town as well and learn some of the history.

This was our second time staying at this home and will return again in the future. This cute historic home is only a couple blocks from downtown, so the location is Perfect!! The house is very roomy and the glass enclosed porch is great! We spent alot of our time there. I highly recommend this vacation home.
