Hollywood Hills apartment description
Charming and central, this spacious apartment is the perfect location to access everything in Hollywood.
Unique and private, its tranquility allows easy recovery from sightseeing and shopping ..... or just a lazy read in the shade of an umbrella.
Nestled in the canyon that leads to the Hollywood Sign, a five minute walk will take you to the local village for groceries or to meet friends for breakfast at the coffee shop. The village also has a day spa, cleaners and antique gift shop. Horseback riding and year-round hiking trails in Griffith Park are easily accessible -- including a hike to the Sign itself.
No longer a working town that closes at 9PM, the nightlife in Hollywood has been transformed with fantastic restaurants and hot new clubs.
Close by, you will find charming sidewalk cafes -- perfect for our balmy nights.
Our location is close to most of the studios & networks -- Warner's, Paramount, Disney, Universal, ABC, CBS, NBC -- and freeway close to the others. It is also close to public transportation.

So Happy Here!
So Happy Here!
This listing (Hillside Cabin) is everything as described and far exceeded all that I hoped it would be. I was extremely happy living here for a month. All of Eda's properties are impeccably clean ( including the sparkling windows) nicely furnished, super-well equipped with anything you could ever need, and well maintained. This is a very safe, peaceful area, and unique property with the stonework upper and lower level patios. So much fun! The highlight for me was to be on fabulous Beachwood , to experience this wonderful neighborhood as a local, walking to the Cafe and Market and to walk every morning through the Hollywood Hills up to " the sign". I enjoyed meeting Eda as much as staying in this home. She is a delight - warm and friendly and very helpful. It is nice knowing she is so accessible, right next door. You could not be disappointed staying here - highly recommended! I am already planning my next trip back.

Owner response: Hi Carol: I am so glad that you enjoyed walking and exploring the hills of the neighborhood. Next time you might see a deer! Right here in Hollywood! I look forward to your return. Eda
Perfect LA apartment
Perfect LA apartment
After years of staying in hotels in Los Angeles, I decided to take the plunge and stay at one of the VRBO properties I had been contemplating for a while. All I can say is "what took me so long"??!!. Eda's apartment is fantastic! Perfect location, perfect size for a single or couple, clean and a wonderful host who cannot do enough for you, but is never in your face. The easy parking, free wi-fi, and kitchen mean I will never stay in a hotel again, and I would definitely recommend the Patio Apartment to friends (in fact I already have). The booking process couldn't have been easier. Eda is a great communicator, and was very accommodating to all our needs. My only problem writing this review is that I might not be able to get a booking next time I'm in LA! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back!

PERFECT LA LA LAND RETREAT
PERFECT LA LA LAND RETREAT
My stay here - the only way to describe is PERFECT. This apartment is beautifully setup & you feel like your in your own home. This owner has remembered everything right dow to the sticky tape. Everything you need is at your disposal & if it isnt the owner will get it .The apartment is very clean & well designed with cable & all. I would say this is a five star hotel quality or better. The kitchen is great in size with full size refridgerator & stove/oven. The owner is very helpful & knows everything about LA so I found her indespensable. I will go back every time Im in LA. Also thge location is fantastic & close to Hollywood & all bus & metro. Perfect retreat after a hard days sightseeing.

I stayed at the Beachwood Flat for nine weeks while I was in LA with the tour of "Spamalot". Eda was a lovely host and had the flat prepared with all kinds of homey touches when I arrived, from milk and cheese in the fridge to cut flowers in vases around the apartment. The flat is decorated beautifully and was a wonderful home for the summer. I especially loved the private outdoor patio - as did my cat, who spent countless hours out there enjoying the sun. I HIGHLY recommend this home to anyone visiting the LA area for a peaceful retreat away from the madness of the city. I loved the close proximity to Griffith Park and Los Feliz, although it was often hard to tear myself away from the apartment as it was so nice! I will definitely be back!

Visiting LA, we were looking for a home away from home – a place that would be a vacation in itself – and this was perfect. The pictures online looked great, the comments of other guests were very encouraging, but the reality was even better than we’d hoped –attractive and comfortable, with vases of fresh flowers in every room (even the lovely bathroom). The patio and lounge chair are as appealing as they look – a great place to relax, read and dine. The living room and bedroom are spacious, the decor warm and appealing, and every room has windows you can open to the breezes and scent of flowers. Lots of handy storage places let you unpack and feel at home. Eda hospitably stocks some basic groceries before you arrive – after asking your preferences! – and the kitchen is so nicely supplied with staples and great cooking gear that you’ll actually want to stay in and cook sometimes, despite tempting restaurants nearby. I found the neighborhood a delightfully interesting place for walks and convenient grocery shopping. If I thought we could return often, I’d be a little reluctant to promote competition for renting the Patio Retreat . . . but since we can’t, I’d recommend it to anyone lucky enough to be heading to LA.

We got real Lucky! My girlfriend and I stayed at Eda's Beachwood Flat and what a treat it was. From our first dealings and the promise of Brownies (which was fulfilled) to the last day we left, Eda was the perfect host. My designer girlfriend, who is not easily impressed, was blown over at how nicely furnished and comfortable this cozy one bedroom was. Eda, (who Tracy pronounced Ida or Yoda at first) has thought of everything from the fully equipped kitchen to the luxurious silky sheets. The patio is bigger than the picture shows and was perfect for morning coffee and evening glasses of wine as the cayotes howled in the lush hills of Beachwood Canyon. This is a slice of Hollywood that many people will never know. You can walk a block up the road to the local market or have coffee at the historic coffee shop. Gawking at the Hollywood sign was last on our list of things to do because we barely wanted to leave the confines of Eda's little slice of heaven. We tried to bribe her to let us rent this place long term, as we were house hunting, but she was strong and would not fall victim to my honed powers of ruthless negotiation. Touche' Eda! We will be back, and hopefully be neighbors with our wild cayote-like mongrels, Tess and Wiley. Thanks for everything! Jeff and Tracy

The "cottage" was perfect. Everything we needed was there. We really appreciated all of the extra touches which made it feel like home. It was especially nice to have groceries provided to get us started since we were arriving late from a flight. Having the broadband access, two flat screen televisions, ipod charger, etc. made things easy and pleasant. The laundry area was wonderful. One of the things we really enjoyed was the the lovely, private patio with the nice table and lounge chair. We ate outside often and took advantage of the great weather. The flowers were beautiful. Jim and I will recommend your place to all of our friends and colleagues who may be coming to the Los Angeles/Hollywood area.

About the owner: I've lived in the canyon that leads to the the famous HOLLYWOOD SIGN my entire life and currently live next door to the units I rent. I love the idea of renting to travelers who want to experience Hollywood as a 'local.' Because I'm so close, I can quickly respond to any needs of my guests -- from providing a map to the iconic Hollywood sign or giving my opinion on great places to eat, shop or visit....along with short cuts on how to get there! All of our units are elegantly comfortable. I look forward to meeting you. Eda Hallinan
Why the Owner Chose Hollywood Hills:
When my neighbor decided to move after 20 years, I thought it would be a perfect location for people who, like me, want to really live as a 'local' when traveling. How lucky I am to live in a canyon that has such great history and that everyone in the world is familiar with. Being a tourist is always fun when you have a comfortable 'feel's like home' apartment to relax in after a day of shopping and sightseeing.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Making a quick snack or cooking a full brunch to eat on the patio is one of the pleasures of this apartment for those times you just don't want to go out.
