July and August are a minimum of one week, booked Friday to Friday, or Saturday to Saturday.
This wonderful home faces Lake Michigan on a bluff and accordingly has some of the most beautiful sunsets imaginable. Homey and comfortable, our three-story restored home it is made for a happy family life.
But that's not all!
Our semi-private beach (shared with our sister property, 'The Darn Barn'), is the big attraction and is more than 100 feet wide of white sand and clear fresh water just made for swimming and wandering along for as many miles as you like.
We are located approximately 5 miles north of St. Joseph along the shore highway (M63 to our home) with the Jack Nicolas designed Harbor Shores golf course in between.
Our home provides plenty of space and comfort for a weekend getaway or week-long retreat. Two dining areas provide plenty of extra space for those extra warm evenings for eating indoors. Although there is air conditioning, the lower level stays cool and exits at ground level. It is comfortably old and wonderful to live in... and just a short walk to our own private beach.
We welcome you to come stay on beautiful Lake Michigan and enjoy Sunset Bluff... our little slice of Heaven!
Please note that in July and August we only book full week rentals that begin and end on Friday.

Our large group of 15 really enjoyed our stay at Sunset Bluff. The house is a bit older, but was very clean and well-maintained. The views from the house were amazing and the private beach was great for relaxing and playing some beach soccer. The bugs around the house were a bit of a nuisance, but were only a problem if the lights outside were on at night. The owner also provided us with bath soaps, shampoos, linens, and kitchen supplies. The use of the gas grill was also perfect for the BBQ we had. We would definitely recommend this house to larger groups looking for an affordable getaway!Did you find this review helpful? After browsing charming pictures of the house online, we were greatly looking forward to our week-stay at Sunset Buff in our favorite vacation spot, Michigan. We vacation to Michigan yearly and have always enjoyed our stay. However, this time we were sorely dissatisfied; upon arrival we became extremely disappointed with the house. The moment we entered, we noticed the repulsive, discreet odor of mold--not to mention, the smell of the garbage left under the sink from the house’s last occupants. Moreover, the entire house made one feel claustrophobic with the cluttered array of books, old toys and clothes, useless knick knacks, creepy pictures and overall junk(such as old paint in the middle of the room). The worst part though, was the apparent lack of thorough cleaning; it felt as if the basement had been abandoned! Spiders decorated the ceiling corners and window sills with cobwebs. Different types of insects skulked in between our bedroom sheets and all over the basement floors. The walls were stained and in great need of painting. The corners of each room were black and filthy. Even the bathrooms were grimy and definitely not properly cleaned. We didn’t enter the shower without flip-flops for fear of catching some fungus lurking in the soiled tubs. The toilets we needed to bleach ourselves since they were stained as well. We also changed a few light bulbs ourselves since they were not working. The TV only had one channel. Furthermore, the unsightly yard was always in use by people using the stairs to get to the beach—we never had any privacy! In a beach house one comes to relax and recuperate… Because of the ungainly and disgusting conditions we could not manage to relax and enjoy our vacation. Our stay at Sunset Buff was a complete disaster. We are definitely not going to be returning nor advising anyone to visit the ill-named Sunset Buff.Did you find this review helpful?
