Stay in the exclusive heart of Paris in this perfectly situated apartment. Compare its super dimensions (55 square meters or 600 square feet) with the 20-35 square meters offered in many other 1 bedroom listings! Our rent is charged in US dollars, a 40-50% savings on comparable rents in euros (as of August 2009). The apartment is on the 2nd floor (also known as the French first floor, or one flight up from the lobby/street level) of a secure, well-maintained building in an embassy area. The 7th Arrondissement is home to the Invalides, Eiffel Tower and the Musee d'Orsay, as well as great shops. We are one block from the Rodin Museum and Gardens, and 2 minutes' walk to the Metro (line 13). Although we have a double-sized futon in the living room and a queen bed in the spacious bedroom, we limit occupancy to not more than 3 persons. The apartment is NOT suitable for party groups and is NOT handicapped accessible.

Everything you need is here, from a fully stocked and furnished kitchen to videos, music, France (and Paris) guidebooks, maps, and French-English dictionaries, books and board games. The bathroom is large by Parisian standards and includes a bathtub/shower combination, portable hairdryer and heated towel dryer. You will find electric converter kits and adapter plugs in the apartment for your use.

There is no A/C but there is a standing fan for hot days. There is a clothes washer in the kitchen but no dryer. A housekeeping and laundry fee of 120 Euros must be paid in addition to the rent (mandatory).

There is a full service grocery, bank, bakery and pharmacy within 1/2 block. Within a 2-block walk you will see the Eiffel Tower which sparkles at night. The Eiffel Tower itself is about a 15-minute walk. The nearest Metro stop is the Varenne stop on the #13 line (1.5 blocks away) and at that stop the VELIB bikes (Paris's bicycle commuting public service) are parked, so you can rent a bike for an hour and return it at this or any other VELIB stop. A 7-day bike card costs 5 euros and the first half hour of the bike use is free. (A 1-day subscription costs about 1 euro.) We have a personal assistant who is available for your personal needs (at an hourly or per-job rate) for making reservations, translating, meeting you at the airport, stocking the refrigerator and other types of tasks. Her minimum charge is about 25 euro.

The furnishings are good quality and in good condition - we care for this apartment as a home, not as a rental property. We expect you will do the same.

The kitchen has electric drip AND Italian stove-top type coffeepots, condiments (tea, coffee, sweeteners, biscuits, mustard, mayo, rice, sugar, etc.), utensils for eating and for cooking, microwave and conventional ovens, oven mitts, dishwasher and detergents.

We have a secure internet connection (ethernet cord is in the apartment -- just plug in to your laptop and go!).

THE MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD IS 1 WEEK. You can stay fewer than 7 days, but the minimum rental payment is based on a 7-night stay. The owner will not respond to requests for short stays (weekends, long weekends, etc.) Ask us about discounts for longer term stays (more than a month). We do not discount the rent over holidays, including school holidays, or for stays less than 2 weeks.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2008

The owner lives in Arlington, Virginia and loves Paris and this apartment. She keeps a tidy home, and welcomes only guests who will treat the home carefully and respect the premises. In the apartment you will find guidebooks and most of the amenities you'd expect in a lived-in home. It's a perfect base for exploring Paris.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 7

One never tires of Paris. There is always something new to see or do. The museums keep drawing us back and the street life and cuisine is unparalleled. Besides, so many international flights stop in Paris that it is easy to spend a few days here en route to somewhere else.

The Unique Benefits of this Condo

Close to museums, restaurants, and all the gorgeous architectural monuments of Paris, but in a secure and relatively quiet embassy area. No long commutes to get anywhere in the city!

This is the perfect apartment for two people. It is absolutely HUGE compared to Paris hotel rooms and other apartments in the same price range. It is located in a excellent area and is close to the Rodin, the Hotel des Invalides and the Metro. The price is extremely reasonable. There is a grocery store across the street and a patisserie next door. In addition, there are a number of excellent neighborhood restaurants closeby. The full size kitchen is great for cooking meals so you don't need to eat out every night. For all those who don't like small beds, the queen size bed is a comfortable bonus! Great place.

early September in Paris

Guest: Kay (Alexandria Virginia)
Date of Stay: 09/07/10 Review Submitted: 09/24/10

September 7-14, 2010 was an ideal time to be in Paris. The weather was still nice and the days long. There was a little drizzle and a need for a light jacket early and late. Because the apartment is very well located, strikes do not present a big problem. Even with a metro strike, they still run, albeit on a reduced schedule. My friend and I loved the apartment and thought that 2 women rather than 3 worked well as the bath and toilet are in the same room. The owner does warn about the street noise so we found it best to keep the windows closed when we slept. Both the bed and the futon were perfect. Having the bakery, the new fruit and vegetable shop and the small grocery store right below the apartment was VERY convenient. Do take a washcloth as it was the only thing not included. We took the RER and the Metro from Charles De Gaul and I would never do that again. Because of the strike, the RER didn't come into the city and we really had to struggle doing stairs and stairs and stairs in the metro stations with several transfers. I think that the better solution is the Air France bus to the Montparnasse station and a taxi to the apartment. When we left Paris, this is what we did and it is only a 5 min. taxi ride. The apartment is a very quick walk from the Metro Station, Varenne, where they also sell the carnet. The TV works well and there were several English stations for the news. Everything was clean and the basic things were stocked for immediate use. We did have trouble finding the apartment once we got to the building as we didn't realize that we had to go through the first building, into a courtyard and into the back building. The owner was very responsive to our questions prior to the departure. The Rodin museum in right around the corner and lovely. We didn't not find much choice of restaurants in the immediate neighborhood but they are plentiful if you walk a few blocks. There are 2 books in the apartment for guest comments and they would be very helpful if read early in the trip, starting with the most recent entries.

The location is great and the apartment is very comfortable for 2-3 people especially at the end of a long day of site seeing. Centrally located and great places to eat or get food close by. We would definitely come back again.
