How often do you find a mountain retreat that offers both of the things people come to the mountains for - a beautiful stream and fabulous views? The Cascades offers you both at their finest.
At a cool 5000-foot elevation perched right beside a gorgeous, private, double cascades - this custom-built and designed retreat offers views from every room in the house. The open downstairs floorplan offers views of the cascades on one side, close up views of a 5600-foot mountain on another, and finally 20-mile views of the Great Smokies on the next. In addition, a large porch off the kitchen takes you almost right over the Cascades.
The two upstairs bedrooms offer the same breathtaking views with lots of glass in all rooms of the house. Open up your windows and be lulled to sleep or awakened to the sound of a gentle mountain stream. Surrounded by hundreds of acres to explore, only a ten-minute walk takes you to a beautiful 100-foot waterfall, while a one and one-half mile hike takes you to Black Rock.
At 5800 feet, Black Rock is simply one of the finest views in the Great Smokies. A 360-degree panorama with 20-30 mile views in every direction. Another one-half mile trail leads to sunset point. You cannot find a better spot to watch the sunset over the Smokies anywhere.
The house features queen-sized beds in each bedroom and a futon in the living room, and will sleep up to six. A fully-furnished kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, and Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.
Located 12 miles from Harrah's Casino in Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway, central to the Smoky Mountains Country Club Golf Course and the Great Smoky Mountain Railway Station in Historic Dillsboro where you will find unique shops, galleries, collectables, and crafts.
Centrally located to Maggie Valley, Cherokee, Bryson City and to Rafting and Tubing in the Nantahala Gorge with numerous hiking and biking trails throughout the area. Enjoy outdoor recreation along nearby waterfalls, hike and commune with nature, float the many rivers and streams on tubes or rafts, or visit local area flea markets.
While created to offer you a place to truly get away from it all, the Cascades is located just outside Cherokee, North Carolina, an ideal place from which to explore Western North Carolina. Rafting, fishing, Blue Ridge Parkway, and amusement parks are all within easy reach. Asheville is one hour away with great shopping, dining, and entertainment including the Biltmore house and the North Carolina Arboretum.

We were a party of 6 people, 2 kids, 2 grandparents and 2 parents. We absolutely loved the place and the location. The views are just breathtaking and straight out of a picture book. A gorgeous place to completely unwind and recharge. This is not the place to take any kind of work to do. There is no cell phone service or internet service and this turned out to be blessing for us. With absolutely nothing to disturb us, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We liked the place so much that we were loathe to even driving out to the smoky mountain national park on more than one occasion. We took a lot of food with us and this helped us stay in. The house is meticulously and lovingly maintained. The waterfall/creek behind the house is what sold us on this property and it was well worth it. We have no doubt that when we return to the smoky mountains, this will be the first vacation home we check availability on. Thanks - The Ganis family.

Just wanted to send a thank you note. We found your home on the Cascades a lot of fun and an ideal way to unwind and recharge. My family absolutely fell in love with the place. We have passed on your home's details to a couple of our friends who were interested on hearing about our vacation. We found the place very spic and span and lovingly maintained. We enjoyed being incommunicado and very much appreciate the home and it's setting. Whenever we decide to pay a return visit to the Smokies, your home will be the first one we will be checking on to stay.

The ride up to this home was a little "scary" at first, mainly because the weather before we arrived had made the road a bit slippery and treacherous. Once we reached it we loved the view and the beautiful wood and general coziness of the home. Our kids had a fantastic time at the waterfall each day. We made a fire and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows, blew bubbles from the porch and listened to music thanks to the great surround sound. We slept in each morning, ate a big breakfast then headed for Cherokee. We did all of our exploring during the day and came back to the house before sunset, as we did not want to make more than one trip down and back up to the house each day. My only suggestions when staying at Cascades would be to come prepared with activities like books, puzzles, board games, music, etc.. And bring extra blankets and pillows if you are like us and prefer more than one pillow at night. It was so cold while we ere there that I wish I'd known that the only blankets available were the comforters on the beds. We truly valued the quality family time we spent in this beautiful home. It offered the relaxation, beauty and serenity we've come to appreciate and expect from the great NC mountains.
