At Raven's Crest, however, you can drive your car right to the very top of the Plott Balsam Mountains and stay in the extreme comfort of a quaint, brand-new, custom-built, log home.
At an amazing elevation of 5200 feet, Raven's Crest offers you the most breathtaking views of almost the entire range of the Great Smoky Mountains to the west. Right off of the deck to the east you will be eye-to-eye with the top of Waterrock Knob and a vast expanse of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Only a short hike leads you to a spectacular sunset point.
Water Rock -
Raven's Crest is a quaint, 680-square-foot, post and beam cabin with cathedral ceilings. The open floor plan includes a living room (with a full-sized, fold-out, futon sleeper sofa), a kitchen, and a dining room. The cozy living area includes a Vermont Castings gas log fireplace for warmth and comfort. The cabin also has one private bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a bathroom with an over-sized soaker tub and custom handmade Mexican tile work.
Over 400 square feet of covered decks wrap around two sides of the house, giving you spectacular views of both the sunrise and the sunset!
Raven's Crest is located on over 90 acres of pristine park-like land including two streams, a 150-foot waterfall, and hiking trails that will take you up to the summit of Black Rock at an elevation of 5800 feet. Black Rock offers a 360-degree view from the Great Smokies to Cold Mountain to the Nantahala Gorge.
This property offers some of the only access to this spectacular hiking destination. The property is extremely secluded as it is bordered by a 1500-acre tract of land owned by The Nature Conservancy. This retreat is very remote and can be reached with a by a well-maintained, five-mile gravel road.
Located 13 miles from Harrah's Casino in Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway, central to the Smoky Mountains Country Club Golf Course and the Great Smoky Mountain Railway Station in Historic Dillsboro where you will find unique shops, galleries, collectables, and crafts.
Centrally located to Maggie Valley, Cherokee, Bryson City and to Rafting and Tubing in the Nantahala Gorge with numerous hiking and biking trails throughout the area. Enjoy outdoor recreation along nearby waterfalls, hike and commune with nature, float the many rivers and streams on tubes or rafts, or visit local area flea markets.
