Tigh Padraig is a modern, extremely well-appointed home in Doolin, the village known as the heart of traditional Irish music. We are long-time (13 years) users of VRBO and have booked homes around the world using this site. We find beautiful homes that may be a bit off the beaten path, which provide luxury and good value. Tigh Padraig is at the top of our list. It is about three km's from the heart of Doolin village, in a quiet hill-top neighborhood (just a few other houses on the dead-end road). Our two teen-aged daughters loved having their own beautiful rooms and baths. The great room was the center of our activity. A separate, formal living room provides a place for quiet time. We saw most of southwest of Ireland using Tigh Padraig as our base -- Galway to the north (45 mins), the Ring of Kerrey to the south (75 mins or so). Bunratty Castle is a half hour or so. The Cliffs of Mohrer are a ten minute drive. The lovely, haunting Burren is a few km's from the house. The roads around Doolin (indeed, most of the country) are not for the faint of heart. They are narrow and driving on the left takes some adjustment, but it is an adventure. The owner, Orla, and her caretakers (Niall and Deirdre) are kind, professional and accommodating. This property is a gem -- take a look!

We spent a week of utter and complete relaxation at this home last September 2011. The home furnishings and attention to detail were second to none and we felt immediately at home upon entering the most luxurious rental property. We were within driving distance of the Cliffs of Moher and some very nice restaurants, our favourite being Roadford House in the village. I cannot highly recommend staying here enough, and we are already booked in for our second stay this summer! In fact, the owner emailed to let us know that she is having 3 of the bathrooms renovated this month- we were surprised to read this as we could not fault anything in this beautiful home!!

Our family spent 2 weeks at this fantastic residence in August this year. I have not stopped talking about this home since we got back to anyone who will listen to me!! It was amazing! The home comes fully-equipped with everything you might need-in fact I picked up a few ideas that were missing from my own kitchen! You can tell that the owners spend time here as they have thought of everything. It was immaculately clean and very spacious. Full bookcase, games and toys for kids, a pool table and cable TV will keep you occupied should you have a rainy day! We did have some good weather so if you are lucky too, enjoy a BBQ on the deck with a chilled glass of chardonnay - the sunsets over the Aran Islands were spectacular. The nearby town of Ennisdymon has a great grocery store but we also had some fantastic meals out at Roadford House in Doolin, Cullinans in Doolin and The Wild Honey Inn, Lisdoonvarna. We will definitely book this home on our next trip back to Ireland and cannot recommend this property any more highly - it is a luxury home-away-from home.
Owner response:Dear Kate, thank you so much for your feedback - we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Tigh Padraig and were lucky with the weather. We hope to welcome you and your family back again some day.

Took my family to Ireland and found a home away from home! This place is amazing, and worked so well for my elderly parents ( large walk in shower in downstairs bedroom) and our young children. The house has everything you want, the owners clearly spend time here. My kids were so happy to discover toys, board games and a DVD library! The house is very accessible to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and Aran Islands and the views from the house itself are stunning! Orla was extremely helpful with our booking and gave us great tips on restaurants in the area. We were also very impressed with the managers of the property who were very friendly. Book this home, you will not regret it!! We will be back!!!

My daughter and I stayed with some girlfriends at Tigh Padraig some time ago. The house is beautifully situated with views as far as the eye can see and easy access to the surrounding countryside. The house itself is beautifully decorated with a fabulous kitchen/dining area and really comfortably bedrooms, as large as the house is, it still has a wonderful home-like feel to it. We booked directly which was hassle free and the couple who run it for the owners couldn't do enough for us.

Had to take the wife and inlaws home to Ireland and so decided to threat them to a week down the country and we choose Doolin. We also choose to go self catering as Hotels in Ireland can be very hit and miss and coming from asia the inlaws are used to a very high standard in Asian Hospitality so I searched the internet and settled on house called Tigh Padraig. Well I am now the favourite Son-in-Law. Doolin proved to be its wonderful self, the golf was fantastic albeit a tad bit windy from those used to the manicured fairways in Mission Hills, the pubs as warm and wonderful as the guide describes, the restaurants suprisingly excellect with many using only locally grown / reared ingredients and then of courses there are the cliffs - awesome. But we are on the west coast and therefore we had a touch of rain (what the locals call a soft day) and most days happened to be soft but we had our saviour in Taig Padraig. This was a fantastic place as on more than one occasion we were house bound due to the extremities outside - this I was dreading as what would the guys do but the house had everything including a soul. As you can tell I dont usually write a review after staying somewhere but I feel compelled to share this wonderful experience. It'll be short but sweet. We arrived after a relaxing 4 hour drive from Dublin, sap nav important but not essential, tricky drive up to the house but we could have parked the team bus on arrival. TP was warm, inviting and the four of us quickly scoured the house like kids on a scavanger hunt - her dad is usually very reserved but he too was like a kid in a candy store, rooms were choosen only to be given up when other parts of the house were discovered - this went on for a while but eventually we all settled down. I had thought of asking if the guys wanted a game of hide and seek but we only had a week and that may not be enough time. Instead it was time for dinner and no-one fancied venturing out into the unknown instead we cooked - we brought a load of food and all the essentials only to find most of them there already - kitchen was huge and so we all got involved, we sat together and talked till the early hours like we had done this a million times - this however was the first time and so very special. TP offered up many surprises on this trip no more than how well my guests felt, noticed when we were leaving for Dublin the tears from the mother-in-law and the father talking to the house when we had our backs turned.......

My visit to this charming 5 star home really was memorable. I found that every part of this property was marvelously decorated, tastefully furnished, immaculate, spacious but with a warm homely feel. The facilities were second to none. The large living area, dining area/kitchen were extremely well equipped and the bedrooms were beautiful and very comfortable, all en-suite - 3 doubles and 1 twin. There was an amazing entrance hall and fabulous large siting room. The panoramic views were simply superb - an absolute highlight for me - I remember watching sunrise over the Aran Islands from the Living Room one morning - simply nothing like it! The owners have obviously put a lot of time and effort into it! The scenery on the coastline nearby was just gorgeous, the Cliffs of Moher have to be seen - stunning! Beautiful beaches too, oh the fresh air! All the trips we made were within an easy drive and we were able to source and organise these ourselves as we had internet access at this holiday home. The night life locally was brill - great pubs with traditional music - a real refreshing getaway from a busy office! I found it hard to leave this beautiful home at the end of our holiday, I have very fond memories and will definitely return one day!

This 5 star accommodation has everything you could wish for and more. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for that extra special place to stay. The huge open plan fully equipped kitchen/dining room makes it an ideal place for entertaining and the luxurious bedrooms that are all en-suite means that no one misses out. As well as it being a fabulous place to stay in, the surrounding area offers loads to do and see including the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. The scenery is amazing and the local village offers great entertainment for a night out. We certainly had great “craic” in Tigh Padraig and Doolin and with such ease of booking directly through the owners I’ll be back!

My husband, two kids and I stayed in this fantastic house last weekend. We loved it so much we did not want to leave it. We never slept in a bed so comfortable as the leather sleigh bed downstairs. It was just so peaceful and yet only a short drive to the bustling village of Doolin with fantastic local bars providing nightly entertainment. The open plan kitchen/living room was so spacious and very child friendly. The owners even provided a high chair and travel cot. The al fresco dining was ideal complete with barbeque and as for the views - they were awesome. There was nothing missing from this luxurious house complete with manual which answered any queries that we may have had from where to eat, what to do or simply how to use the washing machine - nothing was omitted. It was spotlessly clean and we would hightly recommend this property to our friends and relations. This house has to be seen to be believed. We hope to return there again very soon it was one of the best weekends we have ever had in Ireland and we have travelled quite a bit!

Superb spot for an indulgent week or long weekend with breathtaking views of some of Ireland's most spectacular coastline. The house is beautifully decorated with a fabulous kitchen and living area for entertaining, super ensuite bedrooms offering lots of privacy if in a large group and a fab outdoor bbq area. We loved our time here and have already booked again for next year. There is lots to do in the surrounding area with beaches nearby and the famous Aran Islands, not to the mention the great local pubs and restaurants. A completely hassle-free holiday and the couple who look after the property were very helpful and welcoming. Can highly-recommend it.

There are a large number of rental properties around Ireland but by far, this exceeds any we have stayed in before. It is more comparible to a 5 star hotel than a holiday home. The layout of the house is perfect with a great open plan (fully equipped) kitchen / living area - ideal for socialisig, beautiful bedrooms with the most comfortable beds!. The views are spectacular and the house is so well positioned to cater for everyone's needs. It was a pleasure to deal with the owners and also the couple who manage the property who made us feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone.

My family and I have rented a number of vacation homes and this one met all of our expectations. It is a perfect spot to gather an extended family since it provides ample space to gather for meals and socializing as well as places to get away and be quiet. The kitchen/family room has every amenity you could possibly need; the adjoining living room has a door that closes allowing the socializing to continue for some while allowing others to retire in peace. Some might find the 2km walk to the village to be a bit much but for us it provided a degree of privacy that worked perfectly. We all walked to town at some point - or made the easy drive. The owners and property managers were very responsive during an unantiicipated water rationing due to extremely dry weather. All worked out. This house is worth every penny.

Some girlfriends & I spent a long weekend at this beautiful home in Doolin. I say home as that is the feeling you get once you enter the house and on further inspection this house has everything you need, all kitchen utensils and more, internet connection, a pool table, BBQ area, extreamly comfortable beds & as for the views, breathtaking. The owners are very responsive & the managers of the house very helpful I would highly reccommend this house for fun times with friends/family or simply a place to get away from it all! .

My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our break here. Immaculate throughout with all the modern comforts you can think of. It's description is accurate with a very homely feel and the views from the property are amazing you just want to sit, relax and gaze out at the beautiful scenery. There is lots to do around the area but especially enjoyed the "craic" in the local pubs in Doolin which were hosting a music festival at the time of our stay. A trip to Arran Islands a must, along with Cliffs of Moher and the Burren which are all in close proximity. I highly recommend this property.
