Step into this 4000 sq. ft. plus eight year old home and you won't want to leave. Located on a private beach lined by only other beach homes and across the street from Guana State Park, it truly is a private "retreat" ... and only 10 to 15 minutes from historic downtown St. Augustine (15 minutes from Ponte Vedra Beach/Sawgrass). With six bedrooms and five baths and two Great Rooms and more, we promise you a vacation to remember. All the amenities you would want and expect.
Let's start with the living areas ...three of them. The second level features an up-to-date kitchen, living room and dining room that seats eight ....all facing the ocean off a spacious deck with some 10 wood deck chairs. Now this is living. The third level offers a living/game room with a a foosball game, a second kitchenette and 50" plasma TV ... all overlooking another deck and the beach. The first level includes a game room with a TV, Play station 2, DVD and sofa bed.
Now the bedrooms ... two beautiful Master Bedrooms with private baths and one with a whirlpool tub. One other bedroom has twins and two others have bunk beds with oversized bottom bunks and one other with a queen. ...all facing the ocean. Add a couple air beds or use the sofa bed for kids and the home can sleep 14.
Oh, and enjoy the fantastic sunsets from the crows nest high above the house. Your retreat awaits!

My wide flung family met at the Ocean Retreat for Thanksgiving this year. We had a total of ten people from 3 to 63 yrs and we fit quite well, even with three single adults, with the 5 bathrooms being the key to everyone's happiness, including the finicky among us. The home was exactly as advertised, very clean and neat and RIGHT on the beach, with spectacular views from every floor. It is well furnished although somewhat under-lit for evening reading purposes. The boardwalk over the dunes dumps you right on the expansive beach with tidal variations that occasionally bring the water to the base of the stairs but usually offer a huge area for recreation, walks, etc. We did surf casting and wading right in front of the house although the temperature this time of year was not really conducive to swimming. We only had one management issue when a breaker blew but Rick returned my call quickly and gave us what we needed to get to the breaker box. There were starter supplies of most everything (salt, pepper, TP, paper towels, etc.) which hasn't always happened with other VRBO rentals. There are utensils, dinnerware, pots and pans, towels and bedding, beach towels and some beach toys. A little short on servng bowls, but we made do. We had to refill the propane tank on the grill, but the guest instructions said they would repay us. The GTM Estuary Reserve is less than a mile and is both educational and recreational, with a museum as well as hiking trails and a fishing area. St. Augustine is only a 20 minute scenic drive and O. C. Whites downtown was a great place to eat. We absolutely would rent again and I have no qualms about recommending it to a friend. Rick and Jenny have a great place and do a great job of making it a memorable experience.

We rented the house the week before we left our son to begin his college career at Jacksonville U. There were a total of 10 of us staying in the house and we had plenty of room for all. The numerous baths & 3 floors of living space gives everyone plenty of space for privacy when needed. We had the beach to ourselves and enjoyed watching the dolphins play right off the decks every day! Even the baby turtles hatched while we were there and that too was thrilling. Sunsets from the crows nest are breathtaking! The location is perfect for St Augustine & Jacksonville. We did not want to stay inside city limits, we wanted to spend our vacation enjoying quality family time, but we did run into St Augustine for an afternoon of sight seeing & a great seafood meal. There are plenty of toys at the house & Rick & Jenny are so quick to respond to any question or concerns you will have no worries while staying. What the house didn't offer is serving pieces. With 10 people we did not have bowls, platters, baskets to put meals on the table, you have to serve from the stove & that was uncomfortable. There also is not a crockpot which we are big fans of while staying on vacation. (Can't start a meal & go out for the day) There also isn't any containers to store leftovers. We had a great stay and would come back again. The memories we made from playing volleyball on the beach, watching the turtles make their way to the ocean, watching the dolphins leap out of the water, swimming, cocktails on the crowsnest at sunset, etc. are precious and will be cherished for life. We wish everyone the same experience we had!

Our family just spent our third year at the Ocean Retreat rental and hope to return again. This vacation spot is so well suited for a laid back and relaxing week. Your own piece of the coastline to fish from or just to watch the sunrise or the dolphins swim by while enjoying that first cup of coffee. The property is well maintained and has many upscale appointments - from big screen TV's to large commons areas and even a foosball table. It's also nice to be so close to St. Augustine and all the touristy things that are part of that scene. The local contacts are available nearby and really responsive if you have a question or any special needs. A great family vacation spot!!!

Our stay at the Ocean Retreat was absolutely wonderful. The house was beautiful and spacious and easily accommodated our multiple families. The owners and management company were always on hand to help us when we needed it and were very friendly. The beaches here are amazing. White sand, perfect waves, and secluded beaches. It was like we had the entire beach and ocean to ourselves. I would highly recommend this beach house.

We have been renting a house in the SPVB area for the last 21 years. By far this house was the cleanest. Great views. Lots of beach to the east, south and north, State park to the west. Very relaxing!! With this many bedrooms, and our large family, it was great to have the privacy between the different floors. St Augustine is within 11 miles for an evening stroll on St George Street for ice cream with the kids. Aunt Kate's restaurant was close by for an enjoyable seafood dinner on the intercoastal waterway. We look forward to returning next year. We would recommend this house for families with teenagers, children or families with several generations. Although not recommended for those that have difficulty with stairs. Nice and close to Ponte Vedra for the golfers in the family. Also would be great for 6 couples planning a get away. R & J were very helpful in setting this up and on the day of checking in. Thank you!!

The accomodations were great. It was very quiet except for our group but was by far one of our best beach house rentals ever. And we have had a house for the last ten years. The photographs did reflect the actual location. We will probably come back to this property if we find it available.

The house was absolutely beautiful and all that it was promised to be. The location was nice in that it was halfway between both Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine, yet at times, we were the only people on the beach. It was a most relaxing and rejuvenating stay. All who stayed at the house were extremely pleased and impressed with the property. My only complaint is that after such an incredible stressless week, the 10:00 am exit time was a definite shock to the system. I just did not want to leave. Thanks for everything.
