The up-island summer home offers keyed access to one of the most beautiful stretches of private beach property on Martha's Vineyard as well as the use of the Association's private tennis courts. You can enjoy boating activities on scenic Chilmark Pond, and passes are provided for the famous Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket beaches.
The home's wood-paneled living room with fireplace and charming dining room (which seats up to 10) offer breathtaking ocean views. The west wing of the main house has a lovely master bedroom with two twin beds and private bath, two additional bedrooms (one with twin beds and the other with a full bed), and a large full bathroom. The east wing includes a bathroom with a shower, sitting room/playroom and bedroom with a bunkbed and single bed - an ideal space for kids. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and all kitchen appliances. A sweet guest cottage has a set of bunk beds, half bath, and an outdoor shower.
Spectacular water views can also be enjoyed from the front patio. The terrace area in the back of the house offers a protected space for outdoor entertaining and includes a lovely garden, fireplace, and grill. The house has a washer, dryer, cable TV, and internet access.
Chilmark is known for its magnificent farm pastures, beautiful nature walks, flea markets (featuring antiques and the work of island artisans), and local farmers' markets which sell everything from fresh flowers to produce to lamb. The conveniently located Abel's Hill property is only a short ride to the Chilmark Community Center (which offers a children's camp, sailing, tennis, exercise classes, and evening lectures, movies, concerts and dances for kids and adults). Also nearby are the Chilmark General Store and Alley's General Store, and picturesque Menemsha Village with its docks, fish markets, small shops, and the scenic Home Port restaurant.
You can drive 20-25 minutes either up island to the spectacular Aquinnah clay cliffs and beaches and famed Outermost Inn restaurant - or down island to the charming towns of Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, or Edgartown - each with its own distinct personality, shops, and restaurants.
