Thanksgiving Fun

My family made the trek from south Louisiana/Texas to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe & were not disappointed. The unit was very roomy, had everything we needed (even a Pack & Play for the baby--a nice surprise!) and the views were fantastic. We had one little giltch while there, but the manager contacted me within a few minutes & all was well. I do think the "50 steps leading down to the unit" should be mentioned in the description, as this would definitely be a problem for those with health challenges. The location is perfect--convenient for skiers and gamblers alike! An excellent "bang for the buck"!

A gorgeous view at an excellent price - but beware of the stairs leading to the condo.

We loved our stay here. There are very large windows and outstanding views from all three levels. We will almost certainly come back again. The weather in late October was phenomenally warm. The accommodations were great! The TVs in the bedrooms weren't hooked up to anything, but the cable TV in the living area had HBO and other premium channels, and the wireless internet was great. With this view, who needs TV anyway? Be aware, though, that there are 50 stairs from the parking area to the entrance, in case that is a problem for you.

We had an absolutely awesome time at the condo and many thanks for your hospitality and generosity. The view is just breathtaking, the amenities provided in the condo are perfect for a short or long stay, the proximity to the lifts is a HUGE BONUS! Took us less than 2 minutes each day to get in the car and drive to either the Stagecoach or Boulder lifts. At first we felt a bit of trepidation from the one review on the site, but having our own personal experience we can honestly say we had no issues, cleaning or rental related. The management was very attentitve, responsive and took care of each phone call or question with promptness and ease. We would definitely recommend renting this unit to future travelers as well as ourselves. Thank you very much!!

Disappointed

Guest: proprev (Atlanta GA )
Date of Stay: 01/19/11 Review Submitted: 01/23/11

My husband and I recently stayed here with another couple (family) We were more interested in the skiing than the accomodations but were highly disappointed. The unit wasn't clean the downstairs bath had hair in the sink and tub. We didn't use the hot tub because we were sure what the cleaniness would be if the state of the facility was any indication, it wasn't usable. But the most bizarre point was the check out procedure. We realized why the unit was so dirty - the owners required us to clean the facility before leaving. take off all sheets, place eveything in the wash room, clean out the fridge, microwave, don't move any furniture- not even to utilize a plug, if you don't take out the garbage you will be fined, if you leave food you will be fined, if you move furniture you will be fined, if you remove the aluminum foil from the oven you will be fined - of which there wasn't any, must wash the grease from the window sill - that didn't exist, if you use the grill you must clean it, if the cleaners have to spend more time than normal cleaning you will be fined, required to turn down the thermostat, the list of duties is beyond reasonable The heating in the unit wasn't sufficient and the hot water for showering came in spurts. The recommendations for the area were from 2004 and had not been updated. The strangest part is that there is a notice in the check out procedures that says "BEWARE WE ARE WATCHING YOU" That was beyond creepy. We had a 6:AM flight back to the east coast and had I know we were going to be the cleaning crew we wouldn't have stayed here. We were up at 2:00 am to strip the beds, clean the fridge, take out the garbage. In the car by 3:00 and off to the airport. Our stay was from Wednesday to Sunday and we had light use of the facilities.

Owner response:In response to this review, I would like to clear up is that we never once got a call from the guests during the stay. Secondly, this person has taken the few rules we have and blown it out of proportion. The only extra charge we assess is for trash and that is itemized in the rental agreement as are all the other items this guest mentions. I'm a bit confused as to why they rented the house knowing full well before they even arrived of our house rules. I find it a bit odd to complain about our check out procedures after they get home when they knew before they even arrived at the house what renting our home entails. Our cleaning staff was notified after the fact of the issues, but its difficult for us to do any type of quality control when we aren't even notified of any problems when they arise and cannot see them for ourselves. I would have gladly sent the cleaner over to the home to address any problems, but the guest told me " what was I supposed to do, call you for housekeeping?".....um, YES. The unit was not at all dirty. I believe. In all the years of working with this home we've never, ever had one cleaning complaint. As for the duties asked of guests before they check out, its 6 items in general and again, no one complains about them. We ask that the beds be stripped, dirty linens be placed in the laundry room; we ask that all the towels used for bathing or kitchen be placed in the same area. The houses up here are not on a regular trash route - we do not have door to door service much like cities do so thereful we ask that guests take their trash, any left over food items and bathroom trash up to the dumpsters. The only reasons we ask this is to keep the cleaning costs down and to prevent our staff from being cut by items people throw out - we've been cut by glass, razors, ripped aluminum cans, etc. The reason we ask for no furniture to be moved around is so that it isn't broken. This isn't to say you can't move a couch out to access an outlet - that's not the intention of this rule and this guest is making much more of it than is necessary. Many times guests have moved televisions, VCR's, DVD players, stereos, etc., to other areas of the house so when we go to do an inspection we are now having to move everything back into place. In a nutshell, this guest could have easily alleviated their problems by simply calling AND reading the rental agreement that layed out exactly what is expected of our guests.
