This is my very favorite place to stay now in Savannah. Our daughter is at SCAD and lives nearby, and I'm thrilled to have found the Whitaker/Huntingdon Inn. I stayed in the Gordon Stewart suite, which to my delight is sunny and looking right out on Forsyth Park from a bay window. The ceilings are high, and it is a two bedroom suite, so it was amazingly spacious. Bill Saxman was so helpful and flexible, very warm man. The furnishings are just right and quite antique. I love the clawfoot tub (and shower). It is roomy, clean, easy to come and go with the side entrance. The outside is less fancy than some homes on the Park, but that belies how nice it is inside! I very highly recommend this apartment, which you can rent either with breakfast or without. There is no doubt in my mind that I'll be back in the Gordon Stewart suite on my next visit in six months!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Our aim is to assist our guests in any way we can to make them feel welcome and to share any facts and/or information about our accommodations, this great city and its interesting attractions. We have been housing and/or feeding guests for 17 years and now have lived in this 129 year old Italinate home 36 years. We know the city and its history and are glad to share this information, if desired by our guests. We do what is needed to help insure that our guests enjoy their stay at our prime location in Savannah's Historic District.

My family stayed in the Taylor Dunn Suite. It was very comfortable for a family of 4, ample room and all the comforts of home. There were plenty of linens and the beds were nice. The location was excellent, the view of forsyth park is spectacular. Though Bill was out of town, he spoke to us several times prior to our trip. He made several recommendations that made our visit memorable. He told us about tours to take and places to eat. Bill was even kind enough to talk to my husband about the probability of the spirit of 1923 appearing. My youngest son was concerned about this and Bill was able to calm him down. I learned that if you are traveling to savannah with someone who is not the biggest fan of haunted houses, it is best to check that out before hand. Probably the best compliment at all was that this boy was happy with our accommodations and Savannah (even with the threat of ghosts). I hope to stay here again on another trip to savannah and I highly recommend it to anyone else.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: The Taylor-Dunn Unit is a two bedroom/two bathroom ground floor garden unit with a private patio/garden and a small goldfish pond. Free parking is just a few feet away from the front door. Each bedroom has a queen size four poster bed and a private bathroom, plus there is an adjoining sitting/TV room with a queen size sofa. There is also a private kitchen with dinning area. This location and large unit is a great place for parties requiring larger accommodations. Ideal for families, wedding parties, business stays and one to three couples. Allow us to welcome you on your next Savannah visit.

We stayed in the Taylor Dunn Suite over Memorial weekend. The location was wonderful. We were able to visit the Farmer's Market on Saturday in Forsyth Park. We took a couple of walks and enjoyed the architecture in the area as well. The beds and other furniture are very comfortable and nicely appointed. Bill & Debbie were very helpful regarding what to see & where to go. We have recommended their B&B to people that were traveling to the area and will continue to do so. We will also be checking for availability when we return to Savannah, hopefully in the near future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Our location on beautiful 32 acre Forsyth Park/Arboretum is convenient for many activities ranging from weddings, Saturday farmer's market day, concerts, festivals, playgounds, tennis, open and landscaped areas, out door cafe, water features to a one mile walk or run around the park.

We rented the Gordon-Stewart Suite and our cousins rented the Taylor-Dunn Suite, so 3 couples. We were all pleased with the accommodations, cleanliness, and friendliness of Bill & Debbie. Their home is lovely and we felt like we had taken a step back in time. Bill is a wealth of knowledge and was more than willing to answer any questions and make suggestions. We'd definitely recommend the Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn to friends and family. Loved walking the historic district streets and squares, you could definitely get around without having to move the car. Enjoyed the Market, Forthsyth Park, River District, St. John the Baptist Church. Shrimp Factory has delicious food. Took a drive out to Tybee Island, stopped at Uncle Bubba's Rest. good shrimp. We all enjoyed riding on 'The Long Bike' for a tour of the town. Beautiful beach..Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed in the Taylor Dunn Suite for my mother's 75th birthday. The suite gave us the space we needed for 2 couples. We loved being across the street from Forsythe Park. We walked to breakfast every day to Clary's, they have wonderful breakfast. Bill and Debbie Saxman are gracious hosts. Bill added a special touch and baked a birthday cake for my mother and he arranged to have flowers waiting in the room for her. He has a wealth of knowledge of Savannah, places to see and dine. The inn is also so convienent to catch a trolley and leave your car parked at the inn. Hope to visit again soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

I can not say enough about the Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn of Savannah, Ga. This is the place I go every few months for my "Savannah Fix". The Inn is such a warm and relaxing atmosphere for a wonderful retreat. Bill and Debbie are delightful folks with a wealth of local information that makes the visit so interesting. Owner response: We are blessed to have meet so many kind guests and have made friends with many of them from many parts of America and a few from other countries. We have also bonded with a few of our one-time guests such as our four "Irish Ladies", who stayed with us during St. Patrick's week a few years ago; and, keep inviting us to visit them in Ireland so that they can show us their fine county and home towns. We planned to go to Ireland last year but had to cancel because of health issues. Come visit us soon so we can meet you and introduce you to Savannah.

My sister and I stayed in the Taylor Dunn apt. for a week during Christmas. Bill and Debbie Saxman were very welcoming. The day we arrived they took us out to dinner at Christal's, a wonderful bar and grill, to welcome us to Savannah. The location of the unit was directly across from Forsythe Park. Talk about picturesque. If you like to walk it is a beautiful walk to go to the historic areas downtown. The unit itself is very comfortable. The rooms are a nice size and the mattresses on the beds are wonderful. Our unit was on the ground floor and there was a small private garden just outside one of the bedrooms. I do plan on returning to visit Savannah and I plan on staying at the Whitaker Huntingdon Inn.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
