Our large family has loved meeting at the Cedar Lodge for several years. The rooms, location and surrounding activities fit with everyone's needs. The view is breathtakingly lovely! While most people take off to see the sights, I stay "home", sit on the deck and cook in the well equiped kitchen (love to cook). I have enjoyed the walking trails and the little pond in front of the home. The home sits on a large lot, and is very clean and well maintained. I recommend the Cedar Lodge as a destination to anyone who wants to spend time away from the usual and enjoys being in the heartland of the beautiful Black Hills!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We have been staying at the Cedar House for the last 4 or 5 years. We enjoy staying here because it is quiet, beautiful, and meets our needs for the 5 couples that stay there. It is close to Lead-Deadwood, easy access for 4-wheeling, great for hiking or walking, or just cool to sit in the hot-tub enjoying the scenery and outdoor life animals. It is so cool to go to sleep at night with the windows open, smelling the beautiful pine and hearing the water trickling down the stream. We enjoy being able to cook if we so desire, which we seem to do a lot of, instead of dining out. Every year there has been an upgrade to the property. It has always been clean and well taken care of. At the end of our stay, I never have to ask who is coming back with us for the next year, we just have to tell other friends, sorry, there has been no cancellation. Don and Cathy are very good at accommodating our needs, which is very appreciated. That is one of the reasons we keep coming back. It is a great vacation spot.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our family stayed at this home in July, 2010. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and the entire family came to celebrate with us. It is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. The grandchildren were aged from 6 to 24 and they had lots of fun. Our 6 year old grandson loved the lake and didn't ever want to leave the place. Lots of deer, turkeys and other wildlife were around. My grandchildren can hardly wait to go back. There is so much to do.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose Deadwood:
We built the Cedar Home on 4 acres of land. It has a pond right out front, with domestic ducks and geese. The views of the Black Hills are breathtaking. Most every early am and at dusk, you will see deer come down from the forest,or wild turkeys right in your yard.
