The Swan River Retreat (SRR) is the perfect get away for those interested in a place to rest and relax as well as for those seeking a variety of outdoor activities. The SRR provides guests with a panoramic view of the Swan River that changes with the seasons throughout the year. From a quiescent babbling creek during the fall and winter to a roaring river during the spring, commonly called the “Wild Mile”, the river has a life all its own. Come and see for yourself the beauty provided by the Swan.
Downtown Bigfork is less than a minute from the SRR and features the nationally renowned Bigfork Summer Playhouse for those interested in the theater. Bigfork is home to a number of fine dining establishments just minutes from the condo.
Several times a year the residents of Bigfork come together and decorate the streets in a theme consistent with the season. October and November Main Street takes on the appearance of Harvest time. During Christmas "Santa's Elves" thoroughly decorate this little town in grandiose style. You need to come to Bigfork during Christmas and enjoy the sites and sounds of the season. You will be truly blessed with the joy of the season.
The Flathead valley is teaming with opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Bigfork is ideally located in close proximity to numerous recreational activities. The SRR is only minutes from Flathead Lake. Jet Ski and boat rentals are available in Bigfork Bay for those interested in water sports. If hiking suits your fancy, the Mission Mountains have numerous trailheads (in the Jewel Basin) only twenty minutes away. Furthermore, Glacier National Park is less than forty-five minutes from your front door. If you are a Golfer, than Eaglebend is one course you need to experience for yourself. Only minutes from the SRR, it boasts some of the finest views of Flathead Lake and the Mission Mountains.
If you are interested in winter sports than the Flathead Valley is the place for you. The Big Mountain in Whitefish boasts some of the finest Nordic and downhill skiing in the Northwest, only 45 minutes from Bigfork. Thirty minutes from Bigfork is Blacktail Mountain providing yet another option for the skiing enthusiast. Ski rentals are available at both resorts.
