Location: Austin, Hill Country, Texas, USA (South Congress, Sixth Street Music District, Barton Springs) View Map

Accommodations:  House, Studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

Welcome to Austin, Live Music Capital of the World! This lovely guest home is located a little over a mile from downtown and the Capitol Building, with easy access to the Sixth Street/Red River Music District and SoCo (South Congress Avenue). The guest home has been thoughtfully spaced on a large, landscaped lot to maximize privacy from the main house, with a perimeter fence and spacious dog run for those guests who are traveling with their pooch.

Enjoy luxurious conveniences with an artistic flair: a king-sized bed handmade from Texas mesquite, a full-size kitchen with counter top bar, and framed posters of classic Austin musicians and venues are just some of the cool features of this unique vacation lodging. Other amenities you'll appreciate are a 32" flat-panel HDTV complete with surround sound and digital cable (on a fully-articulating wall mount, so you can watch movies in bed!), a CD & DVD library of local musicians and Texas film classics, wireless broadband internet access, and an iPod dock for your own tunes.

I've also put together a comprehensive guidebook to help you find the "Best of Austin"--those independent businesses (restaurants, record stores, boutiques, etc.) that are the cornerstone of this amazingly diverse and vibrant city. The guidebook contains maps, menus, and information on our natural wonders (including the incomparable Barton Springs/Zilker Park) and cultural highlights (such as the Blanton Museum of Art and the South Austin Museum of Popular Culture), as well as a list of all the places to hear great music!

From your off-street parking spot, it's less than a mile to both Manor Road and the historic 11th Street Corridor, hosts to over a dozen local cafes, coffee shops, and unique bars; it's also under a mile to the UT football stadium, home of the four-time National Champion Longhorns! A patio set and a hammock accentuate a pretty garden setting for a relaxing afternoon, or take a bounce on the trampoline and energize yourself for another day of sights and sounds in Austin.

    • On average, I spend 60% of my nights sleeping in strange beds. Business travel is a part of my job, so I know what's out there for accommodations. Sure, Austin's got fine hotels but I knew I'd found something special with this guest house. Leslie's response to my first inquiry was prompt and professional. As a host, she is genuine, knowledgeable and very welcoming. The location is perfect for the daily commute or a night out. I second the others' comments; the house is very clean and perfectly appointed inside and out. So fellow travelers, if you want to stay in a place that will let you shake off the dust of the road and soothe away the stress of the day, I highly recommend Leslie Geller's guest house. Unless, of course, I'm in town. SRD

Perfect Home Away from Home!!! This guesthouse is a diamond in the rough. Conveniently located just minutes from UT Stadium and all the downtown sites and activities, the guesthouse is nestled away in a quiet neighborhood enjoying urban renewal. This home (and many nearby) feature modern design and green living. From the moment we entered the gate we were greeted by a lovely patio and garden featuring native Texas plants & shrubs, recycled glass pebble walkways, and a table & chairs perfect for morning coffee. Inside the guesthouse we were surrounded by luxury and Texas charm! High end finishes throughout, deluxe large slate tile shower, and red leather sofa and loveseat work perfectly with the Texas sized king bed! The host has thought of every detail including ipod dock and wireless internet, coffee grinder, and more! Our favorite things are the touches of Austin music history which include vintage framed album art and concert posters from nearly 30 years of The Home of Live Music which is Austin. Helpful guides and information are supplied as well, maps and attraction listings, even coupons for special events! Perfect for your Austin getaway!

    • Leslie, You are a wonderful host! Your help with music choices and restaurants was great. Thank you for having such a comfortable studio apartment. We stayed 10 days and were very happy. We will definitely come again soon if for no other reason than to have the companionship of Lila and Miss Pickles. They were a great substitute for our cat that we always miss. • We so enjoyed our stay in Leslie's guest house, and our two small dogs did too. It's beautifully designed, fully equipped and very user friendly. And yes, it is very close to all the action in Austin. And Leslie has put together a wonderful collection of visitor resources -- menus from popular restaurants and other places to go. We love the place and we will be back. Thanks for having us...

    • Visited: 1st weekend of Dec, 08...Great experience! I have stayed many VRBO's in places like Vail, Breckenridge, Tahoe, Big Sky, Chicago, and South Beach. Honestly, this was one of my favorites. In fact, this is the first comment I have ever posted for a VRBO owner, that's how great it was. If you are a couple and want a cozy place to stay, you've found it. Stop looking and start planning your activities for the trip! The unit was built last summer, and is very clean. Leslie used top-quality materials from the floors to the fixtures. The tv swivels and can be seen anywhere...I even kept watching the football game from the shower! The kitchen is clean and modern. But best of all is the bed...I bet you will like it more than your own! Take my advice, STOP LOOKING! You will be glad you did!!!

    • Our weekend stay at Leslie's guest house was very enjoyable. The home is comfortable and unique, and only an $8 cab ride from sixth street! We both really enjoyed the surround sound and slate shower as well! Leslie was a terrific host - I left my cell phone charger and she mailed it right back away. We will definitely stay again and would encourage anyone else who's looking for vacation home right next to downtown Austin. Thanks again Leslie! --Justin and Melissa
