Beautifully appointed guest house with access to a charming and relaxing back yard. Quick and easy drive to downtown. I don't know why we would ever stay anywhere else when visiting Austin. It was just perfect.

Great Austin Feel

Guest: Dianne D.
Date of Stay: 05/03/12 Review Submitted: 05/08/12

We've visited Austin 5-6 times, mostly at hotels, and this is the most fun place we've been. Very spacious, clean, convenient, and nice amenities. She also has a great collection of Texas music and Texas dvds, for when you're inside! The little porch area out front is nicely shaded, so good for sipping coffee or a drink , even if the temperature is getting up there. We didn't try the bikes, but it is conveniently enough located that you could get to downtown, U of T, or the river very easily by bike if you wanted to. Last but not least, Leslie is a very nice landlady/host!

Not only a cool guest house, but great resources for visitors

Guest: Jumarav (San Diego)
Date of Stay: 04/11/12 Review Submitted: 04/16/12

The guest house was extremely comfortable and a great place to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring Austin. It has a great amenities including a cool collection of local music and live performances on DVD. But the best part is the collection of resources and info for visitors, including a restaurant guide and a binder full of local menus, music venues, and brochures for outdoor activities, which were extremely helpful. Leslie even suggested a live show to check out, which we did and had a fun time. All in all, it was a great stay and we felt very welcome. Also, friendly cats roaming the garden!

better than our house

Guest: ar (Minneapolis)
Date of Stay: 03/31/12 Review Submitted: 04/22/12

Leslie's place was perfect for us. As two teachers on spring break, we wanted sun, relaxation, excercise and live music. The bikes were good for a nice workout, we went all over town. The backyard and cats provided relaxation . Sun, well you can't control that, but it was there all week. And Leslie really helped us decide on music and food. One of us likes to play 20 questions and Leslie fielded them all! It was nice to have a home landing spot to pace our days as we went, thanks Leslie.

Really Cute Little Place

Guest: wenrick1 (Beaumont, Texas)
Date of Stay: 03/16/12 Review Submitted: 03/20/12

My husband and I stayed in Leslie's Guesthouse for an extended weekend while in town for SXSW. Although Leslie has a couple bikes that we were offered, we did choose to drive to our various destinations, but I thought that was a nice "extra" that she offered. While the location seemed to be close to everything we wanted to do, it was far enough away to offer us the quiet that we would not have found closer to all the SXSW activites. The Guesthouse itself was cute, clean and comfortable. All the comforts of home was right at our fingertips!! I would recommend this location to anyone coming to Austin!!!

A perfect taste of Austin!

Guest: J&D (New York, NY)
Date of Stay: 03/02/12 Review Submitted: 03/05/12

Staying at Leslie's cottage was a great part of realizing that all the great things they're saying about Austin really are true. The cottage and backyard is extremely comfortable and perfect for sitting on the porch, drinking coffee, playing fetch with our dog (who doesn't have a backyard in our Manhattan apt) and enjoying the East Austin neighborhood. And it was wonderful having Leslie's friendliness and hospitality just a few steps away if we needed anything. I only wish we had stayed a full week!

Super comfortable and charming. Plenty of space for two and one or two four-legged friends. Great for a getaway. This host has thought of everything: stocked kitchen, tasteful collection of local music and DVDs, and an incredible visitor's directory. Perfect yard for lounging, reading, drinking coffee, and especially fun for dogs! Location is convenient to downtown. Several great cafes and restaurants within walking/biking distance.

My husband & I and our 2 dogs drove in from Houston for a concert and stayed at Leslie's guesthome. It was perfect! She has it decorated with Austin music prints and has even put together a great guidebook to Austin. Everything was just as described. We enjoyed being able to bring our dogs with us, and the guest house has a fenced yard and good roads to walk them. We would definitely stay there again!

Charming Cottage

Guest: TJ (Arizona Metro Phx)
Date of Stay: 12/09/11 Review Submitted: 12/12/11

This little guest cottage was a wonderful alternative to a hotel. My husband and I were in town for a wedding, so didn't have a lot of time to spend in the room, but when we did, it was very comfortable. Leslie has lovingly decorated this guest house with care and imagination. It's colorful and cheery (even on the cloudy, overcast days we were there), and well appointed. Quiet, private and convenient. We would recommend you give it a try on your next visit to Austin.

We had a wonderful stay at Leslie's guesthouse! We used the well tuned bikes everyday to ride around Austin. It was a great way for us to see the fun city and save money. Leslie keeps her rental very clean and well stocked with the necessities needed. We continued to find great areas nearby and would definitely stay there again. Thanks for a fun get-away Leslie!

Upon arrival of this Charming Guest House, we were greeted by Leslie immediately, she made us feel more than welcome and was most helpful with all of our requests. The photos reflect the rental's appearance and amenities, when you enter the house, the element of warmth and comfort is instantly apparent. This is a very clean, well-maintained rental, in a convenient location to nearby activities, attractions and restaurants. I would recommend this property to anyone who enjoys the comforts of home, and to those in need of a place which welcomes dogs!

We found the guesthouse to be very clean, well-maintained, and very nicely furnished and decorated. The urban location was very quiet and private. We sat outdoors in the morning and enjoyed our coffee. Downtown was only a short distance away. We enjoyed riding the cruiser bikes to nearby Lady Bird Lake. We definitely recommend staying here and plan to stay here on our future visits. Leslie was very helpful in suggesting activities. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

cute studio with full kitchen

Guest: Alina (St. Petersburg, FL)
Date of Stay: 08/07/11 Review Submitted: 08/24/11

I stayed at this guesthouse when I attended a conference in downtown Austin. It is a detached studio with a great vibe and outside sitting area, located behind the owner's home. The owner, Leslie, was accommodating with my early arrival and helpful when I had questions. The major plus of this guest house is that it is a full kitchen - most don't. I had read from other reviews that the studio was ideal for car-less travel. I'd say ideal for a car-less *vacation*, but not travel for work. Having to get downtown for meetings at specific times made travel a little tricky with buses not running that frequently and the train station~0.7 mile away (a quick walk, but not in 100 degree weather!). But I did discover, on my last night, that cabs in Austin are really cheap!

My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and absolutely loved it. This was the cleanest rental we have stayed in by far, and the pictures do not begin to capture this cottage's charm. It was convenient to Downtown, the park and UT. Leslie is a fabulous hostess and has taken considerable time to make a book of her recommendations. We are already checking our calendars for our next visit!

Wonderful cottage with all the amenities of home. Everything was in tiptop shape. The bed was extremely comfortable and Leslie had very kindly stocked the kitchen with coffee and creamer. AC worked wonderfully which was good since the temperature is Austin topped 100 Degrees that weekend.Very enjoyable stay.

Leslie's cottage is charming and well appointed. We loved the decor and the amenities. Very comfy bed, shower for two, full size kitchen. She has a great collection of Austin City Limits concerts of Texas music on video and CD's too. Great poster and album cover art on the wall. Wasn't very familiar with the eastside of Austin but it is a very up and coming neighborhood. Franklin's, a very hip barbecue joint is on the eastside and it's also very easy to get downtown from there. Loved our time there! Leslie was helpful and kind.

Cannot say enough! GREAT COTTAGE!

Guest: Terri N. (Houston, TX)
Date of Stay: 06/17/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

My wife and I were looking for that perfect getaway for the weekend. We couldnt have found better. The pictures gave us a good idea of the layout and what to expect, however, they did not entirely do it justice, as we were still overwhelmed by the immediate comfort we felt when entering. It was so much better in person. It was so clean, and had every amenity anyone could hope for. It was very private and being off the street was the perfect feel for a cottage. The owner had even laid out information not only on the amenities (TV, CABLE, SURROUND...) but also had information available on suggestions for things to do, see, and eat, all around Austin. As far as location, it was just a short drive to downtown, SOCO, right off the freeway, and was pretty much centrally located to everywhere. A few blocks away, nice for a walk, is a 24-hour coffee shop with wi-fi and the best coffee (sorry Starbucks) and breakfast tacos. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get out of a hotel/motel stay. This is a home away from home indeed. Although, such a rave review, might deter availability of our future stays while visiting Austin. But it is worth sharing.

This place surpassed my expectations. It is located in a very unique and cool neighborhood in Austin. The pictures make it look nice, but it is even better in person. The owner was super nice and flexible. This rental was pristine and had everything I needed and more. There is even access to bicycles and a trampoline on site - how fun! Nearby local places to eat are easily accessible by bike or foot. I didn't drive my car while in Austin because of the great location. Highly recommend staying here!

Great Cottage in a Great Town! Top notch kitchen, bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Linens, towels, the furniture are all just great. Cottage is on the east side but very close to the LBJ Library. Quick and responsive owner, no deposit refund issues. I would highly recommend and would go back again. Our dog loved the fenced yard.

Sanctuary in the city

Guest: JoJo (Carlsbad, NM USA)
Date of Stay: 03/24/11 Review Submitted: 03/31/11

The Piquito guesthouse is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of a noisy city. Located in a neighborhood with easy access to the Interstate and downtown, it's an ideal location for travelers with their 4 legged friends. Manor street with local eateries, including the Red House Pizzeria (it allows pets on the yard patio) is an easy walking destination. This Pizzeria has good food and really good blood orange margaritas. All the better for walking back to the Guesthouse. We appreciated Leslie's vision to create her guesthouse. It has the comforts of a home, it's a nice resting place after exploring the city of Austin, and she allows you to bring your pets. We really enjoyed walking around Zilker and Pease Parks with our dogs.

East Side Austin Gem

Guest: Lucas (KC, MO)
Date of Stay: 01/01/11 Review Submitted: 01/06/11

For us, the two big selling points of this property were the dog run area and the bikes. Not having to take the dogs out on their leash every time we go outside is a nice feature when traveling w/ pets. Parking in downtown Austin can be difficult and pricey. However, the bikes allowed us to move about without our car and would be a bonus for travelers without a car. Even if you choose not to ride downtown, there are several nice cafe/dining options(i.e. Cafe Bennu, East Side Cafe) in the neighborhood. The house is nicely appointed with a full kitchen and entertainment suite. I wish I had more time to just lay around and enjoy the house. In addition to the fine decor, there are excellent materials available to make informed choices on dining and entertainment decisions, including maps, menus, and a detailed Austin restaurant review guide. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Austin.

Date of Stay: 12/17/10 Review Submitted: 12/20/10

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in this guest house. We were a little concerned about the location in East Austin but upon arriving could see that the neighborhood was a mix of many different peoples although the night scene a couple blocks down appeared to be a little unsavory. The location was very convenient to downtown and this was very helpful as we were coming and going to meet different people downtown and in south austin. The guest house was very clean and the updates were a nice bonus (flat screen TV, comfy bed, big shower, etc.). We had some trouble with the heating/AC system but overall it just felt nice to stay there and we weren't wondering about the cleanliness of the towels and bed linens. My husband especially enjoyed the fresh ground coffee in the morning. :) Most of all, it was wonderful to be able to bring our dogs! The fenced in yard was perfect for our 2 german shepherd/chow mixes when we were out with friends. Additionally, to not have to pay extra for bringing our dogs was great. We will definitely stay again and would recommend this to anyone bringing pets along on their trip.

My husband and I stayed at the guesthouse over Labor Day weekend, and couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. The house is beautifully done (my husband kept asking if we could redo our bathroom in the same style that Leslie used in hers!), very inviting and comfortable, and has easy access to anywhere you're headed in Austin. We brought our two black labs with us and they loved having a yard to explore. The guesthouse was so much more convenient that staying in a hotel, and with so much more charm and character.

The room is extremely well-equipped – spacious, comfortable, thoughtfully decorated (even comes with a great Texas-themed DVD collection). Really comfortable bed, great bathroom, stocked kitchen, all in a tidy space that doesn't feel one bit cramped. Leslie is really helpful and nice, plus she provides a useful binder of restaurants reviews, maps, locations to visit. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay more than one night!

This is a wonderful cottage, filled with extras and upgrades, and the location is amazing! It is extremely peaceful and uber dog friendly. The owner, Leslie, is a spectacular hostess, and treats you as a personal guest, instead of just a renter. Although this cottage is only 500 sq ft, because of the high ceilings, it seems much larger. I HIGHLY recommend this treasure of a place, and will absolutely be back for another stay.

I was lucky enough to find Leslie's place online. It is absolutely perfect for us. We are usually traveling with two small dogs, a 7yr old and occasionally a 17yr old. Our oldest moved to attend UT Austin so we needed a "home away from home" in Austin. Leslie's place is awesome, from the lovely decor, modern appliances, beautiful tile, nice linens, flat screen/surround sound and free WiFi. The kitchen is ready to go with all the necessities and surprises like olive oil, condiments, organic coffee beans and a grinder! She really has thought of everything. The yard is lovely and of course our 7yr old loves the trampoline. The fenced yard is perfect for doggies to go in and out as they please. The proximity to UT is just the icing on the cake. :)

What a terrific rental! We rented it for the month of February 2010, and it was just like having our own home in Austin. The full kitchen is wonderful, as are the bathroom and the Texas-sized bed. And we were able to bring along our cat, Chomps, who very quickly became acquainted with the neighborhood denizens. The location is very convenient to downtown, UTA sporting events, as well as northeast and south/southwest. Leslie is very respectful of her guests' privacy, but she is easily available and helpful as needed. Highly recommend! P.S. Our granddaughters LOVED the trampoline!

I stayed for three nights last month at Leslie's guesthouse while visiting Austin. She has created a wonderful space that absolutely embodies the character and spirit of this unique city. I felt comfortable and at-home immediately, and enjoyed the ample information provided on Austin's music, secret spots, amazing restaurants, and other cultural attractions. Furthermore, with its central location, I was perfectly poised to enjoy downtown and the hidden treasures of the city's east side. If you are looking for a base from which to find the essential Austin experience, this is where you want to stay!!

On average, I spend 60% of my nights sleeping in strange beds. Business travel is a part of my job, so I know what's out there for accommodations. Sure, Austin's got fine hotels but I knew I'd found something special with this guest house. Leslie's response to my first inquiry was prompt and professional. As a host, she is genuine, knowledgeable and very welcoming. The location is perfect for the daily commute or a night out. I second the others' comments; the house is very clean and perfectly appointed inside and out. So fellow travelers, if you want to stay in a place that will let you shake off the dust of the road and soothe away the stress of the day, I highly recommend Leslie Geller's guest house. Unless, of course, I'm in town. SRD

Perfect Home Away from Home!!! This guesthouse is a diamond in the rough. Conveniently located just minutes from UT Stadium and all the downtown sites and activities, the guesthouse is nestled away in a quiet neighborhood enjoying urban renewal. This home (and many nearby) feature modern design and green living. From the moment we entered the gate we were greeted by a lovely patio and garden featuring native Texas plants & shrubs, recycled glass pebble walkways, and a table & chairs perfect for morning coffee. Inside the guesthouse we were surrounded by luxury and Texas charm! High end finishes throughout, deluxe large slate tile shower, and red leather sofa and loveseat work perfectly with the Texas sized king bed! The host has thought of every detail including ipod dock and wireless internet, coffee grinder, and more! Our favorite things are the touches of Austin music history which include vintage framed album art and concert posters from nearly 30 years of The Home of Live Music which is Austin. Helpful guides and information are supplied as well, maps and attraction listings, even coupons for special events! Perfect for your Austin getaway!

What a wonderful retreat! The house is immaculate and beautiful. Leslie is an incredible host, very friendly. I really enjoyed the notebook that lists the wonderful eateries nearby. We definitely plan to reserve this retreat again!

Leslie, You are a wonderful host! Your help with music choices and restaurants was great. Thank you for having such a comfortable studio apartment. We stayed 10 days and were very happy. We will definitely come again soon if for no other reason than to have the companionship of Lila and Miss Pickles. They were a great substitute for our cat that we always miss. Our first trip to Austin was a great one as we felt the excitement of the city, yet a very comfortable and cozy feel in this great little place. We had the perfect amount of space for my husband and I and our large dog, Sasha. Leslie (the owner) provides a very accurate description of the place. It really is as great as the pictures show! The yard was fenced for Sasha to run around in, as well, which was relieving to not feel like we had to take her everywhere with us. I don't know which was our favorite part: the trampoline, the great kitchen, the very comfortable king bed, or the great large (and gorgeous) shower! Or maybe it was just Leslie's great touch of giving you the "lowdown" on all the great restaurants and places to see in the books she provides (including a homemade notebook of menus, maps, brochures, etc)! We'll be going back as often as we get a chance!

We so enjoyed our stay in Leslie's guest house, and our two small dogs did too. It's beautifully designed, fully equipped and very user friendly. And yes, it is very close to all the action in Austin. And Leslie has put together a wonderful collection of visitor resources -- menus from popular restaurants and other places to go. We love the place and we will be back. Thanks for having us...
