A Fantastic Weekend! Best house in Healdsburg!

Guest: Linda (South San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 09/16/11 Review Submitted: 09/19/11

thank you for a wonderful weekend! The cottage is lovely. Had a great time on the river, in the river and watching the river go by from the deck. This is our third rental on the River and by far the best! Would recommend it over any of the other two we have tried! The owner was great to deal with. Everything went smoothly. House was just as lovely as in the photos, clean and had everything we could possibly need. We had three generations and all of us loved the entire experience and can't wait to go back!

The river made our weekend

Guest: Brent (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/12/11

We stayed at the Riverhouse over the July 4th weekend and couldn't have had a better time. The location is great, just a 10 minute drive from the center of Healdsburg but feels very secluded, and the house itself comfortably slept our 8 guests. What really made the weekend though, was the river. We spent every day down on the private beach, using the kayak out on the water and watching the endless groups of people float past us. In the evenings, we moved the party back up the hottub, by the grill. Overall, it was a great weekend - highly recommend the Riverhouse for anyone looking to get away for a weekend or longer, especially given its proximity to the center of town and the rest of wine country. Tips: bring inner tubes and other things you want to use in the river (balls, rafts, etc); make sure to obtain the code for the padlock on the kayak from the owners; bring food to grill; it can be a little tough to find the first time but google maps will get you there; the phone signal at the house is adequate but a little weak, so bring a charger as your battery drains more quickly than usual; the house has wireless which is plenty fast for email and online downloads.

Total relaxation

Guest: Bernie (Miami FL)
Date of Stay: 06/13/11 Review Submitted: 06/24/11

If you think Sonoma wine country is open sunny expanses of meadows and vineyards, you've not seen the best part of Sonoma. It can be a heavenly wooded paradise. Just returned from one week at the Riverhouse June 2011. The pictures do not do justice to the property. First of all, it is in a redwood grove directly on the banks of the Russian River. When sitting on the outdoor deck in the back, you overlook the river, and enjoy the cool shade of the redwoods. We even saw river otters and deer. Walk down a rustic stone staircase directly to the water's edge, There's e kayak, gas grill, outdoor hot tub, indoor jacussi, flat-screen cable TV, and the well-stocked kitchen and paper supplies. The house is clean, the furniture is OK. There is fresh basel and mint in the garden. One bedroom has a powerful room air-conditioner, although in June the temp drops to the 60's at night. We ate all our meals on the deck, beneath the trees overlooking the river. Take a long walk down Redwood Drive, it is quiet and completely sheltered by trees. The agents could not have been more cooperative. One night at 10 PM we blew out a fuse using the hair dryer and could not find the circuit board anywhere. The handyman arrived in 15 minutes to fix it. While there, he gave us lots of good hiking and shopping tips. Here are a few... we wanted shady, cool, redwood forest hikes. Armstrong state park was excellent, combined with visit to Guernsville and a drive out to Jenner... the outlet of the Russian River... very pretty. Drive the Westlake road to get there. It is a beautiful country road passing about 5 vineyards and through multiple redwood groves. The other hike was Annadale Park, also a shady, redwood forest. Neither too difficult but aerobic nonetheless. One of the best tips was Big John's Market, about a 5 minute drive from the house. Fresh organic veggies and meat department... prime cuts and lots of specialty items. Dining is great is Healdsburg. There is Cyrus a 2 star Michelin 3 hour experience that is unforgettable and expensive. You'll need to reserve weeks in advance. Also try Ravenous which is excellent and has an outdoor dining area in the back. Previous visits to Healdsburg we ate at Dry Creek kitchen and thought it was over-rated. One negative -- The house has three bedrooms, but the largest bedroom has the toilet and sink in the room itself. On the plus side, that same bedroom contains the jacussi
