Blowing Rock Storybook Cottage with Grandfather Mountain Views

Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock
We actually designed and custom built our cottage as a second home in 1989. In 2005, we completed an extensive renovation on the cottage including custom wormy maple kitchen cabinets with granite countertops and new stainless appliances, we completely finished the lower level of the house including a custom bar, stone accent wall, gas vermont castings woodstove, complete bedroom suite with full bath and a built in sound system for the whole house. We also added additional covered decking with ceiling fans for expanded outdoor living space in all kinds of weather. After enjoying living in the cottage permanantly for a year, we decided to buy another home for ourselves and turn our cottage into a beautful vacation rental as a business. So far, it has been lots of fun and we really enjoy talking with all of the folks who have helped make our first year renting the cottage a big success.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
The cottage has wonderful long range views of Grandfather mountain. We are facing west so the sunsets behind Grandfather can be absolutely breathtaking! The cottage is situated on 2 lots at the end of a quiet street in a very quiet neighborhood just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and is only about 5 miles from Main Street Blowing Rock. It has 1600 sq ft of heating living area with almost 800 sq ft of decking. Huge mature rhododendruns surround the cottage and it is spectacular when they are in bloom! Some extra amenities that we provide include free wireless high speed internet access, a fairly extensive DVD library, lots of books, puzzles and games for our guests to enjoy, two TV's, two fireplaces (1 gas and 1 woodburning), a custom bar downstairs, rope hammock in back, outside dining table and chairs a lots more! The cottage is also air conditioned just in case it should get a little warm on a late August afternoon.

We retired from our fast paced corporate life in 2007 and moved to our second home in Blowing Rock (now our vacation rental) permanantly at that time. After living in the cottage for about a year, we decided to buy another home in the Blowing Rock area for our permanant residence and turn our cottage into a vacation rental. Now, our primary business is managing the cottage here in Blowing Rock as well as a beachfront vacation Condo in Litchfield Beach SC that we also own and help manage. We have loved coming to the Blowing Rock area with all it has to offer for many years and now feel blessed to live here all the time! We still enjoy hiking the many Parkway trails, beautful mountain golf courses, and all of the wonderful restaurants, shopping and fun events here in the Blowing Rock/Boone area throughout the year. We enjoy talking with all of the folks that stay in our cottage and hope you will choose us for your next stay in the area!

The weather was very cold with lots of snow when we arrived. :-) We enjoyed sledding and playing in the snow, tubing at Hawks Nest, visiting main street and Kilwins Chocolates and visiting the Blowing Rock. We were disappointed that Tweetsie Railroad was closed though. The cabin was great; the views were beautfiul. Thank you for all of your help at the beginning of the week. We really enjoyed your home, thank you for sharing it with us. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The weather was cold and mostly sunny. Tubing at Sugar Mountain was lots of fun! We also enjoyed the shops and just relaxing at the cottage. It is a homey and cozy cottage, just right for our family. We hope to come in the Summer to enjoy other adventures in Boone and Blowing Rock!

We loved the cabin. It was quaint, warm and comfortable. The wood stove and gas stove were so much fun. Our son loved them both. Thank you for letting us stay in a great cottage. Wonderful views and a very warm, inviting home.

The weather was beautiful! The days were in the mid 60s-70s and nights cool. We enjoyed hiking on the Blue Ridge. We hiked the Rough Ridge Trail today and the views took your breath away because they were so spectacular! Hawks Nest zip line was fun for the kids too! We enjoyed cooking in and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets from the kitchen windows! Seeing the beauty of God's mountains puts things in proper perspective. The cottage was "enchanting" and the mountains amazing! Our hope is to return to experience every season. Thanks Jeff for helping us with our car trouble and for sharing such a wonderful place for us to enjoy!

We enjoyed hiking the trails, visiting all the great shops in downtown and some great steaks on the grill with wonderfuls drinks. Your place is gorgeous with stunning views! We came here to de-stress and enjoyed all of the wonderful sounds of nature and relaxing porches. We were wishing we did not have to leave.

We went hiking, had ice cream at Kilwins, mined gems at foggy mountain and shopping in Blowing Rock but the very best was the trails and lake at Moses Cone park. These are now our favorite running trails in the US! Your home is beautiful and very comfortable and clean! Thank you for sharing it with our family. We think you are so lucky to live here!

The weather was cool and sunny - Just perfect! Our favorite adventures were laying on the loft bed and seeing a herd of 11 deer pass behind the cabin! Discovering Glen Burney trail in Blowing Rock and the Julian Price 4.9 mile Boone trail and shopping in Blowing Rock - "It Rocks!"
