Please check this one out if you are willing to drive from this location to see all of Oahu. The Makaha area offers much to do or it's quiet for enjoying the ocean opportunities. It is a long drive from many popular sightseeing locations, though. It's at least an hour drive from the Honolulu airport depending on traffic. Rush hour is always very busy during the week so plan appropriately for traveling between 6-10AM and 3-8PM. We planned every day ahead so we gave adequate time when we drove to Hanauma Bay, the north shore, Waikiki, and Pearl Harbor. We had previously lived on the island and loved the leeward side, so it was a good choice for us to stay at the Hawaiian Princess. Staff and security is excellent. Elevators were fast and available during our 13 day stay and everything was well maintained and clean. This condo, on the 8th floor, is a great location for sitting on the spacious lanai to enjoy the sound of the ocean, view turtles, whales, and dolphins with an occasional seal on the beach, or capture the nightly sunset. Papaoneone Beach is a great walking beach, too. Lahilahi Point is also a good hike just off the sand. I'd agree with another reviewer that the condo is very adequate and comfortable. Some toiletries and supplies were not as stocked up as we'd expected, with only 3 rolls of bathroom tissue, one roll of paper towels, and 4 trash bags for a 13-day stay. We didn't cook except for using the microwave, which for us, was all we wanted and needed. It was very helpful to have the washer and dryer, a big frig, and a dishwasher. Kapolei, 30 minutes from the condo, has everything you'd need for your stay. The condo is stocked with bath and beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, snorkeling gear, and kids sand toys. 2 TVs and WiFi were nice to have, too. The owner was quick to handle questions for us, and we communicated with the owner at various times before, during, and after our stay. Don't miss one of the best meals on the island at Kahumana Organic Farm in Ma'ili. We ate there 3 nights and can't recommend it enough. Hapa Grill in Kapolei, Jurison's and Big City Diner in Waikele, Dixie Grill and Bravo Italian in Pearl City, and LuLu's and Duke's on Waikiki are some of our other favorite restaurants. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did in wonderful Hawaii.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Owner response: The condo is stocked with a starter kit of supplies such as a few rolls of toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, a few trash bags and soap. This is common practice for condo and timeshare units that are rented.

I’ll admit I was a little nervous about this condo as the owner accepts checks only (not PayPal) and the reviews seemed rather generic. All is as advertised and the photos are accurate. This is a wonderfully isolated location, if you wish to be removed from the crowds and stay on a beautiful beach. I kept the lanai glass doors open at all times to hear the ocean. The condo is off the main road so I did not hear traffic or the neighboring roosters except when I was in the hallway. The building is well maintained and surprisingly clean (very little sand) for being on a beach. The security is excellent as a fob is required to enter the gated parking area as well as the elevator. There are binoculars in the condo for viewing (whales, turtles, boats, etc.). The lanai closet is well stocked with 4 beach chairs, an umbrella, two coolers (large and small), and snorkeling equipment. The condo also has an excellent supply of towels (hand, bath, beach). The condo is not well stocked with toiletries. I bought liquid hand soap for the bathroom and fortunately brought my own shampoo and conditioner (although there were a few partially used travel size bottles under the sink), soap and lotion. The kitchen is outdated but functional. I mention this because if you like the latest and greatest for cooking, this is not the place for you. The pantry also has few supplies (such as spices, olive oil, etc.). There were no Ziploc bags, but plenty of Tupperware and foil and saran wrap. The bedroom has a large closet that runs nearly the entire length of the room and has numerous hangers. The bedroom is dark at night and great for sleeping. The sheets were very soft. As a side note, I recommend Ke’ena Point State Park that is about a 10 minute drive north on Farrington Hwy. Park where the dirt road begins. Walk (or run, as I did) to the point that is a gradual approximately 2.5 mile climb along the rugged coastline. You also pass some beautiful (and uncrowned) beaches on the drive to the park. I definitely recommend this location.

Now that we are settled back at home we wanted to send you a quick email to thank you for the use of your beautiful condominium. Our parents were in your unit while we stayed in another one. We would have a glass of wine together on your balcony and watch the whales. But we were all very impressed with the cleanliness of the unit and the overall well-cared-for feel. It was cheery and added to our great vacation. Been telling all of our friends, so maybe we will be sending some people your way!

My family of 4, including 2 teenagers, stayed at this condo for one week and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a great view of the ocean, a nice, sandy beach just outside the door with calm waters, and lovely additions like a pool, Jacuzzi, and grills. The people staying there were nice people, as were the people working there. The Hawaiian Princess is perfectly located so that all tourist attractions are within one hour or less driving distance. I completely recommend this place to anyone coming down to Oahu but doesn't want to stay in the crowded, expensive hotels of Waikiki and Honolulu.

This condo is truly a gem, the best value on Oahu! My sister, her friend, and I stayed here for a week in June. Even though it is a one-bedroom condo, we were able to spread out and found it to be very comfortable to sleep, relax, and eat in. My sister and her friend slept in the bedroom, and I slept on the sofa bed in the living room. The sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable! The best thing about this condo is the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean! The lanai (balcony) is spacious with dining and lounging furniture, and as it faces west, we saw the sunset right from this condo! There was even some snorkeling and watersports equipment in the closet in the lanai! While I slept on the sofa bed in the living room, I opened the doors to the lanai on most nights while I slept, as the breeze and the ocean waves were very pleasant! The condo was very clean and as described on the web posting. It was great to also have modern electronic amenities available in paradise... good air conditioning for those humid summer afternoons, as well as a large HDTV (we did watch a couple of movies!) and wireless Internet. I have been to Hawaii 2 or 3 times a year for the past 8 years, and have found the Leeward Coast (west side of the island) the best place to stay. Even when I have a business appointment or dinner date in Honolulu, it takes just about as much time to fight the congestion and traffic from a Waikiki hotel as it does to cruise along the highway from the Leeward Coast. And this condo is the best place to stay on the Leeward Coast! I will definitely reserve this condo again next time I'm on Oahu, and I have already recommended it to friends!

The visit was wonderful and we love the condo! In fact, we were pleasantly surprised at how much the pictures didn’t do the condo justice. We loved every minute of it. We had no issues with the locals or local grocery stores, the visit was very pleasant. Also, loved the fact that the condo was very well stocked with towels, sheets, snorkling and beach gear. If we ever go to Hawaii again, I will be looking you up to see if we can rent the condo.

We stayed in this condo Aug 2009 and it was wonderful. The condo is very clean and well-equipped. They had plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards. In addition, they had two fold out cushions/mattresses that we used for my infant to sleep in. The view from the deck is beautiful. The condo was just painted and has new bamboo flooring. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. She is quick to respond to questions. Overall, we had a wonderful experience.
