Situated on Beautiful Lake Lure in the North Carolina Mountains, this Non-Smoking home is only 25 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina, home of the Biltmore Estate. Lake Lure is noted as the filming location for the films 'Dirty Dancing' and 'Last of the Mohicans'.
Our newly renovated home is decorated in rustic mountain decor and is 'beary' appealing. The sunroom overlooks the lake and cove and is a perfect place to relax in one of the rocking chairs or rustic log chairs. Equipped with a bar area, it is the perfect place to take in the Lure of the Lake.
Our home has a main floor with two bedrooms, full kitchen, den, full bath, woodburning fireplace, small bar area and sunroom which views the beautiful lake. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed and the other has twin bunk beds.
The newly tiled downstairs portion of the house is accessed from interior stairs and is furnished with a King Size Bed, sleeper sofa and love seat. There is a new flatscreen TV and VCR for your enjoyment. The washer and dryer are located in this portion of the house and there is a newly renovated full bathroom downstairs. There are several Televisions provided upstairs and downstairs with cable.
There is an 8' x 8' floating dock for swimming, jumping or relaxing out in the lake. Additionally, fixed platforms have been modified at the lake level for better enjoyment of the lake and easier docking of guests boats.
Our home is equipped with a completely fenced yard and fenced deck on the lake and has a concrete patio with steps into the water with a lakefront setting that's second to none. Parking is limited to three cars along Charlotte Drive and the front door is only a few steps away. Come enjoy your stay on this picturesque lake and see why Lake Lure is a diamond in the rough.
Please note that our home is located in an area where there are year round residents. Please be courteous during your stay. We are limited to 3 parking spaces at a maximum. If you happen to bring a boat trailer, this will count as 1 of the parking spaces. Additional cars will need to find another location to park. Thank you.

After staying at the house in July and being disappointed about several things, the owner offered a free stay to make up for our disappointment. The house has been renovated and the changes are impressive. The bathrooms and kitchen are new...even down to the new kitchen wares. Now there are three new TV’s, access to the downstairs from the main floor, and new deck and new heating/air conditioning unit. The house has been transformed and is really nice!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Although this house is in a nice location on the lake and convient to the amenitites that Lake Lure has to offer, the house leaves a little to be desired. Although we enjoyed our stay at the lake, it could have been better if some things were different at the house. Here is some information concerning the house: •The downstairs bathroom toilet was dirty with a ring around the bowl. There was no toilet brush or cleaner, therefore I contacted the property manager to inform her. She came by around 9:30 pm on Monday evening and brought a brush and cleaner. I cleaned the toilet. •The air conditioning unit stopped cooling on Monday afternoon. We were without air until Wednesday morning. It was difficult sleeping in the house during this time. •The downstairs twin bed had soiled sheets, which appeared to be dried bodily fluid. We pulled the sheets from the bunk bed and changed them. •Both showers did not drain properly. I had to put Drano and plunge in order to get them to drain. •Excessive dust, cobwebs and dog hair on floors. Windows in living room covered with fingerprints. Advertise two TV’s in home…TV screen downstairs is different colors, purple, green, yellow. Remote either needed batteries or didn’t work. •We scrubbed kitchen sink due to scum build up. •The floating dock has a broken handle, making it difficult to climb up ladder. •Both upstairs and downstairs exterior doors extremely difficult to get in or out of due to dead bolt sticking in faceplate. •Light switch in downstairs laundry room/bathroom almost impossible to turn on or off. •Window handle in upstairs bathroom broken, difficult to turn to open or close. •Upstairs bedroom closest to road, blinds in both windows broken, could not raise or lower without having to take them off the window. •Pair of worn ladies underwear found in nightstand in bedroom beside kitchen. We had certain expectations considering the cost of the rental home. Needless to say we were disappointed.Owner response: Sharon, We are sorry that you had a bad experience at our home. We acknowledge that we have had some plumbing related issues and have had the sewer lines repaired and scoured out several times over the past year to remove roots. We have done it again in July and hope this corrects the problem as these issues are outside of the house near the large trees. I received a bill for the air conditioning being repaired, so I hope the remainder of the trip was more comfortable. We ask guests when departing to strip the beds that have been used and pile the sheets on the floor so we know which beds are used. This is requested in the information that we send to all guests prior to their arrival. I have notified our manager to strip all beds in the future to ensure that all sheets are fresh and clean. In addition to looking in all drawers for forgotten items. In the past, we have relied on guests being honest with the beds that have been used, but I have learned not to assume this with your stay and want to ensure this does not happen again. We try to fix broken items prior to the rental season and after the rental season, so if things are broken during the season, they are not always promptly repaired unless brought to our attention, so thank you for pointing these items out and we plan to repair immediately. As for the doghair and cobwebs, we plan to deep clean following this season and am truley sorry. We may need to allow more time between rentals to do a better job with the cleaning since we are pet friendly and almost all of our guests enjoy bringing their pets. We have a manager in close proximity to handle these issues and this normally works out well since we are out of state owners. We hope you plan to return and will provide you some credit for your previous stay. Thank you for letting us know that we need to improve. Tim Cook

We love Lake Lure and try to get there as often as our work schedules permit. This home had everything we wanted in one package. Though designed for a larger group, the upstairs main area was perfect for us, comfortable and cozy with a big wood burning fireplace that we had going within minutes of arrival. The kitchen is efficiently laid out and refrigerator is large with icemaker. Furniture is attractive and sofa extremely comfortable! There is a very cleverly designed oval bar area with stools that was perfect dining area for two. The comfortable rockers facing the large front windows was perfect for early morning and late evening lake gazing. There is plenty of deck area outside to leisurely fish or watch the boats go by. There is a new washer/dryer downstairs, so convenient! Big deal to us is being able to bring our elderly pets to a fenced yard so they could enjoy sniffing around the falling leaves and we could relax. We enjoyed a great, long weekend, highly recommend this home and can't wait to get back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We stayed at this house July 2009 and had a fabulous time. It was a memorable vacation since my niece got engaged on Chimney Rock! The property was beautiful and you couldn't get much closer to the lake. The gate and stairs into the lake were a God-send since I couldn't negotiate the swim ladder. The stairs were a little slippery where they were underwater so you had to be careful, but it was definitely negotiable. It was heavenly to just relax in the lake. My niece and her fiancee greatly enjoyed the canoe that was available and spent a lot of time together on the floating dock. We also liked to sit on the boathouse dock and wave to folks passing by in their boats. The outside stairs were a bit of a challenge but we managed them fine. We didn't bring a pet, but the fenced in property and easy access to the lake would be great for water-loving dogs. I would definitely recommend this house and would stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks for the nice comments regarding our property.
