Spacious Mid-Century Rural Retreat on Water with Private Pool and Dock.
Located on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay off the Choptank River in Cambridge, Maryland, this pleasant three bedroom, two bath 1956 vintage home is tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac on Jenkins Creek.
Oak floors, cedar lined closets, eclectic art and furnishings give this home a unique personality.
Guests can kick back and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay experience. There’s plenty to do!
Explore the network of waterways at the nearby Blackwater Reserve where waterfowl abound. There are plenty of biking and kayaking choices too. Help yourself to three adult bikes and one child’s bike as well as a single person kayak and a two person canoe. Helmets are included.
Don't forget to take your binoculars to view the bald eagle, blue heron, osprey and other waterfowl. Explore our picturesque backyard creek offering great views of swans, robins, finches, and geese before venturing out on the Choptank river. Have a 17 ft powerboat brought to the dock to explore greater distances. Or bring your own boat. The public launching ramp is only a mile away and you can keep your boat at our private dock.
Cool off in our in ground pool or try crabbing from the dock. Sip a cool drink by the gold fish pond, or read a good book in a hammock under the trees. Included too is a game room with ping pong table, jukebox with hits from the 60s and 70s, wireless internet, cable TV in the bedrooms and living room, new energy saving washer and dryer, a book-lined den, charcoal barbeque, picnic table, screened porch, and central air conditioning. There are ceiling fans in all the bedrooms, living room and screened porch. There is also a startup collection of oldies videos to watch.
This 1.8 acre property provides plenty of space to play croquet, tether ball, and other outdoor activities. And there is lots of running room for your four legged family members.
A modest vegetable garden offers fresh seasonal produce.
The dock includes three boat lifts and a bench at the end to watch the flitting swallows, jumping fish and mellow sunsets.
The area is renowned for its excellent hunting and bird watching so consider the advantages for visiting the area during autumn, winter and spring too. Snuggle in front of a wood burning fireplace, soak in the hot tub and later nestle in the soft warmth of designer flannel sheets.
Cambridge town center is one mile away offering an array of medium range and upscale restaurants. There are also art galleries, consignment and antique shops, boutiques and a maritime museum to visit. The Choptank River is nearby with small sandy beaches and a children’s playground with swings, slides, monkey bars etc.
Cambridge offers an intriguing history which includes the story of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, and the well known sharp shooter Annie Oakley's home. Visit Horn Point marine research facility to see how oysters are "grown".
The town is currently undergoing a cultural revival which can be seen in its popular Mosaic Path art themes scattered throughout the town.
Come and explore the eastern shore and see why Whit's End can offer you that well earned respite you have been waiting for.
It truly is a quiet little corner of paradise!
