- Kid Friendly : Kids are going to love the Justus Cottage at Hidden Dunes. Ours sure do. It is a gated beachside neighborhood with a security guard at all times. So the kids can enjoy themselves. There are lush trees all over property with meandering water canals and fountains leading to amazing swimming pools. Justus Cottage is on the first floor so there are no stairs to deal with, which is wonderful. Right out the back door you can walk on paths to the pool and hop on the tram to the beach just 10 steps from front door and tennis courts are just around the corner. The cottage is equipped with 3DVD and VCRs and cable tv along with game players. There is lots for them to do and you to feel safe about them being there. Outside the property are water parks, theme parks and such as well.

Hello. We are Scott and Lisa Justus, and we live in Atlanta, GA. We have 3 children and are delighted that you are visiting with us.
Why the Owner Chose Hidden Dunes
We love Hidden Dunes and have been coming to the area since college days at Auburn (many years ago). Growing up in Birmingham/Atlanta (for Lisa) and Asheville, N.C. (for Scott), the white sugar sand beaches of this area have always seemed to be calling our names. We never want to leave. We live in Atlanta now and can be at our beach house in an easy 5 1/2 drive. Hidden Dunes was a beach tennis resort Scott and I admired for many years. We met playing ALTA tennis in Atlanta (he beat me in mixed doubles) and thought this was a PERFECT place for our family's beach home. We chose the perfect cottage located in the lush landscaping of this amazing secluded beach paradise (near the beach, pool, basketball and tennis).
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Our cottage is nestled in Hidden Dunes' twenty-seven acres of beautiful landscaping. The Resort is masterfully designed, constructed and landscaped to enhance the natural beauty of the beaches and creates a unique sense of privacy.
There is an open air tram system for quick and easy access to all amenities (seasonal),including, the most beautiful white, sugar sand beaches in North America,six championship clay tennis courts, USPTA certified professional tennis staff with professionally supervised tennis clinics and round robins,24 hour security/courtesy patrols,lighted basketball court,three swimming pools (one heated) with Jacuzzis, walking trails with gazebo, lake and lakeside deck,reflecting pools and flowing fountains all over the place and a playground area for children.
Just next door are championship golf courses and the famous Silver Sands Factory Stores – over 60 stores in walking distance. Down the road (maybe 10-15 minutes) is Destin Commons Mall - open-air lifestyle center offering shopping, dining and entertainment. There is deep sea fishing, sailing, windsurfing, parasailing and other water sports available nearby as well and when you want to treat yourself to lunch or dinner out.. there are over one hundred nearby restaurants.

We had a wonderful time in the Justus Cottage during our beach vacation! We especially enjoyed the back patio and its welcoming window into the kitchen and the big soaking tub in the master bath. Also, all the storage was wonderful for unpacking all of our clothes, etc. and made us feel like we were Floridians in our own beach cottage for the week! :) The in-house washer and dryer also allowed me to come home from our vacation with a very small pile of laundry verses a Mount Everest's worth of a pile. :) There were lots of good towels, all the kitchen utensils we needed (although, we should have brought a good corkscrew) and all within a very easy walk to the pool. Our only "complaint" (and not really one, at that), is that with our two little children, and all of our beach gear, the walk was a bit far to the beach so we did have to load up into the van for that every morning, but to us it was WELL worth the beautiful Gulf and the wonderful times we had there. Supposedly, there is an in-season tram, which we never even bothered to call about. The owners were extremely helpful and very easy to work with. Thank you, Lisa and Scott, for a wonderful, memorable week in Destin! We are all still dreaming about it. :)

Missy, Ray and friends had a great stay in your wonderful cottage we really enjoyed the ammenities that you provided we were in need of nothing. We spent most of our stay at the beautiful big pool and at the wonderful beach and the weather was glorious. We would recommend other adults to seriously consider staying at this cottage.

We just recently stayed at the Jutus Cottage and it was wonderful. The cottage was adorable and it had lots of space- I felt so at home there. It also is minutes away from a wonderful outlet that had everything you could think of. Not far from that is the public beach.....if you'd like to enjoy that........with tons of great seafood resturants. My only regret is that I didnt get to enjoy the property more. We were done for a wedding and most of our time was spent away :( The property was beautiful and my husband who visited the beach on the property said thats where we should have been the whole time. I will defintley be returning next year!!!!! It was WONDERFUL.......I can not stress that enough :)

Scott and Lisa, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that we had a wonderful time staying in your condo. It was very spacious. We had with plenty of room for all of our groceries and I loved the fact that I could tuck away all of our extra things in the hall closet. We prepared several meals in the condo and did not want for anything as far as pots and pans or dishes. The colorful linens on the twin beds were great for my children. And we loved the fact that there was a DVD player in there as well so we could pop in a movie for some quiet time. My MIL enjoyed sipping wine and reading on the beautiful screened in porch while listening to the fountain nearby. We loved having the washer and dryer in the condo. We were able to go home with all clean clothes! We were close enough to the beach that even my one year old had no trouble walking to the beach. We had an absolutely wonderful time and can't wait to go back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us.

This cottage is absolutely adorable and has plenty of space. The master bath is incredible and the decorating is really beachy. ! there is a screen porchwhere we had coffee every morning and watched the squirrels and birds. There is a tram that picks u up any time you get ready to go to the beach or the pool. I recommend this place very highly. What a wonderful time we had.

We had a great time at the cottage. The Cottage itself has plenty of space to relax and a full kitchen to save on eating out. The screened patio was excellent for breakfast and was a nice tranquil setting with the fountains nearby. We enjoyed the beaches, pools and heated pool. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the cottage, so pack the cooler accordingly. The complex has great areas to walk which are shaded and very nicely landscaped. There is of course is shopping and eateries all around the vicinity. I would say the Cottage is perfect for a family on a budget. What the cottage doesn't have is things like marble countertops or other first class amenities, however the rates more than compensate for that. Again, a family of 4 should find the Justus Cottage a perfect place to stay with 2 full baths and full kitchen with dishwasher/washer and dryer. Remember to buy dishwasher/laundry detergent for the extended stay! Also of note we found the security and staff personnel friendly and helpful. The cottage rents through the resort agency which I liked for added security of deposits etc.

Lisa, I have to let you know how wonderful we think the cottage is! I'm sorry it's taken me a while, but I had to rush back to work. We loved everything about it. It was so spacious and in the perfect location. It was the perfect place to come back and relax after working all day. We loved all the colors, the brightness of the home and the comfortable furniture. It was so well equipped, there wasn't anything that we missed! We held my Mother's 90th luncheon on Saturday and it was a very big success, much more than she was expecting. And after the hard work of putting it together and seeing it accomplished it was so nice to come back and relax in your luxurious home! We hope we can come back and enjoy your cottage again sometime; I will keep your information for our next visit...Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home.
