I have stayed in one apartment or another while visiting my family in Montreal, who made the inital recommendation. Each apartment is well maintained, comfortable, has a full kitchen, dining area and TV.The Atwater market, just 2 blocks away, is an amazing place to stock up and/or have lunch. The location is convenient for visiting Old Montreal, downtown galleries and shopw. A plus is that the owners are very personable and live in the building.

I stayed at the 2 bedroom apartment with a couple of my girlfriends for 3 days and it was a great experience. It's clean, comfortable, bright, charmingly decorated, spacious and conveniently located. Jane and John are delightful. I would definitely stay there again, and I've recommended it to my friends.

Great visit to Montreal. The apartment was great, sparkling clean and beautiful. The beds were super comfy and the hosts, Jane and John were very sweet. A+++ and will be returning. Loved the neighbourhood. The only thing missing was the snow. Next time.

Stayed two weeks while doing an elective at the Montreal Children's Hospital. The location is ideal as it was a 25 minute walk to the hospital and can be reached by foot from the 747 bus which stops at the Lionel Groux station. There is also a metro station even closer. The pictures do reflect the rental's appearance/amenities and the property was clean and well maintained. The rooms all have laundry machines and cutlery/pots/pans to cook. The internet connection was fine and there were televisions with cable. The property was clean and well-maintained and the owner was very helpful with any questions I had. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. It was a wonderful opportunity to live in an area of Montreal which I otherwise would not have thought of visiting. The Atwater market and the canal are also about a 20 minute walk away and on a nice day, I was able to walk to downtown Montreal and back. I would recommend the St. Henri coffee shop (about a 10 minute walk) which roasts it's own coffee. There are also many greasy spoon restaurants which look very good but I did not have the opportunity to try. One unfortunate thing was that due to a scheduling conflict, I had to move from one room to another and had to spend one night in a hotel. The owners did not charge me for this night and I got to spend the last week in the room on the top floor which was quite large for one person. I would also recommend to bring a pair of slippers as the wooden floor gets cold.
Owner response:The only thing that this guest forgot to mention was that he was notified 6 weeks before he arrived about the mix-up and he opted to keep his reservation. JS

This as charming 2 bedroom apartment (plus sitting/TV room) located southwest of downtown. The only negative observation is that there are steep stairs getting up to the apartment. This would have been a little scary for children less than about 7 or more mature visitors who had any issue with stairs. We rented a car in NY and drove up and there was never a problem finding parking around the apartment. The location is great and we will definitely stay there again when we return. The apartment was clean and well-stocked with some luxury touches in towels, linens, and bed coverings. Fresh bagels upon arrival were nice. It is obvious that John takes pride in these apartments. The neighborhood was fairly quiet with a few parties within earshot late on Friday evening. The grocery is very modern and clean and had everything we needed. The metro is just a couple of streets over but since there were five of us and I do not mind a big city, we drove downtown each day ($3 pr hour parking with 2 and 3 hour max with minimal problems finding parking - pay with CC at parking pay station). Our Montreal trip did not disappoint and the apartment was a big part of making it a memorable trip.
Owner response:Hi RG, My apologies for the stairs. This unit is special because 100 year ago when they constructed this building, they didn't believe in putting landings to break up a long flight of stairs. I guess our ancestors were used to a good workout! As for the parties, it was Halloween weekend and in a high density area, there's no rest for the wicked! Glad the partiers weren't too close though (since I live next door and I heard them too. Thanks and see you again.

We have spent a full week in this really nice appartment.. Very comfortable, clean, with well equiped kitchen. Very handy location, nearby metro station, yet in a quiet environment. All is arranged to make it easy during your stay. Nice outside wooden terrasse, just need a bit more heat in Montreal! All in all, we plan to come back in Montreal to check on our older one who studies in Montreal. We most likely will come back in this place.

We spent six nights here. The apartment was spotless upon arrival with lovely furnishings. John met us at the entry, having been contacted by our taxi driver for directions. John was most gracious and talked the driver in. John went over all the necessary house instructions and told us to call him if we needed anything. The loan of the Metro OPUS cards was really appreciated. The dozen bagels and cream cheese he left for us was also welcome treat - we enjoyed them for days. There was plenty of soap and cleaning supplies and linens and fully equipped kitchen. We really enjoyed the back porch, as well. IGA supermarket is a 5-7 minute walk; Place St. Henri Metro station is about 5 minutes away. Two observations: With three people, we felt a bit crowded in the lounge/living room area. The only other seating was the dining table - which is lovely, but not too comfy at the end of a long day of walking. Of course, most other people are probably more interested in going out at night than we were. I should have realized this upon booking, as John's photos are a very accurate depiction. The other small problem was that upon arrival all the towels smelled like mildew. They were probably left in the washer too long by the cleaning person. Thankfully the washer and dryer were very handy and I just did a load of towels to fix this. Despite these two tiny minuses, I still give this apartment 5/5 stars and would not hesitate to stay here again. The rental transaction was easily done and communication with John was excellent. I definitely recommend this apartment!

My wife and I stayed in this apartment for a weekend in Montreal with our three children, which of itself made the rental worth every penny (downtown Montreal hotels simply won't let 5 people stay in a single 2-bed room). The inside of the apartment is gorgeous and comfortable. It was a real treat to enjoy a glass of wine or craft beer on the outside deck. The proprietors were very nice, very helpful and live very close, which would have been handy if we had had any problems. But we didn't! The stairs up to the third floor are a little bit steep: I wouldn't recommend this one of the three to anyone with bad knees. But to everyone else: Don't miss out!

Stayed in the apartment for seven nights and found it to contain every comfort and amenity. John and Jane were very helpful and provided several excellent eating and drinking options. I recommend an evening stroll along the Lachine canal to the Brasserie du Montréal (15mins) for a craft beer and BBQ. Excellent food superstore 5 mins away, Atwater market 10 mins and metro 5 mins from where you are 10 mins from downtown. Safe free street parking.

On the plus side: beautiful apartment, clean & well-appointed, bike path along the canal is "can't miss," nearby water park a big hit for our kids. On the down side: neighborhood is a bit sketchy (lots of graffiti & overdosed man near Metro station), had to wait 45+ minutes outside before we were able to find someone to let us into the apartment for check-in despite following John's emailed instructions - John never responded or apologized to our phone call / email stating our arrival time - but Doug, who was filling in for him was incredibly helpful.
Owner response:Dear C, Unfortunately like many great cities, Montreal has a graffitti problem. I wish there was no graffitti but I can't control this. However, as all our other positive reviews can attest, we are situated in a SAFE and convenient area. I'm glad that you mentioned the beautiful apartment because this is something that we can control. Concerning the 45 minute wait, I apologize for the delay. We do our best to be on time but we were away that week and we had someone covering for us. Best regards, J & J.

We stayed in this apartment with our two young children (4 & 1) and my father (senior) and there was plenty of space for all five of us. Note that the stairs up to the apartment are very steep, but everyone managed fine. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. It was very warm during our stay, so the A/C with the ceiling fans helped cool things off! Atwater market is very close as well as the grocery store. Felt very safe parking on the street and there was no issue with that either. The metro stop was also very close to get to. We also took advantage of the nearby playground and sprayground just a block away while our little one was sleeping. Great to have that when you just need a break from sightseeing after meals and such. Overall a great place to stay!

Thank you John and Jane for making our trip a wonderful experience!

My family and I stayed in Gallery 3 while visiting the Grand Prix du Canada 2011. The appartment is in an ideal location - while only a short drive from the airport it is also only a short metro ride to downtown and the circuit. Loan of the OPUS cards made travelling on the metro cheap and easy. Within the local area the IGA grocery store and Atwater Market have everything you need for sels catering are there are some good restaurants within walking distance. The appartment itself is very comfortable and well-fitted. We made good use of the extensive video library and enjoyed a BBQ on the outside deck. John and Jane were very helpful hosts and always ready with advice. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for a stay on Montreal.

We stayed here with our friends who have two small children. There were sleeping options for all of us and the outside deck was a great place to gather, grill, and enjoy the sun. The metro is convenient, as is the grocery store. This location might not be ideal in the winter b/c it is not smack dab in the middle of everything - but when it is warm out, the walk to amenities is no problem at all. And the apartment is very comfortable and well-maintained and John was very helpful.

Jane and John were so personable and helped with all of our questions about Montreal. This apartment was clean, well equipped and close to a grocery store and the subway system. We had a great experience in this apartment with two young children and mother-in-law in tow. It was close to the grocery store and metro, there was free street parking, washer/dryer in the unit, and it was clean and updated. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit and plan to recommend it to another family that will be coming to Montreal in the spring. Be aware that there is a steep flight of stairs to enter the apartment. The only reason why I gave it a 4, rather than 5, star rating, is that the shower faucet was difficult to use. It was either scalding or cold and I had to have my husband set it each day for me. Could have been user error, but I have never had this problem before. May be a concern with young children.

We had a great weekend in Montreal, and enjoyed our stay in Gallery 3. The apartment was very clean and easy to childproof (for our 16 month old twins). There was plenty of space for them to explore and roam around. We really liked all the "extras" (Montreal guide books and maps, magazines, board games, DVDs, well stocked kitchen, OPUS cards, local restaurant take out menus) in the apartment. John was very helpful and even gave us recommendations on where to take our kids trick-or-treating. We would stay here again when we return to Montreal.

John and Jane have provided a very nice rental opportunity in Montreal. It's in a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes from the subway station and grocery. The space is very clean, quaint and comfortable. Clear efforts were made to make us feel at home: a well-furnished kitchen, bagels and cream cheese for breakfast, a collection of books, movies and games, maps and walking tours, a list of local restaurants, travel books and brochures and re-loadable subway passes. We had a really nice time and it was being able to come "home" at the end of a day of roaming that made it really special for the kids in particular. Being able to grab snacks from the fridge, fix a cup of tea and spread out homework on the big dining room table made this space a clear winner for us over a hotel. We would definitely rent this same apartment again.

While visiting one of Canada's most historically significant cities, it was great to stay in a century old apartment that was so tastefully and comfortably restored. The 3rd floor walk-up (Gallery 3) was situated in a residential neighbourhood, just blocks from bike trails on the Lachine Canal, the marvelous Atwater Market (a real treat for your senses of sight and taste) and a Metro station (the Opus Cards were a nice touch) which is probably the best way to get around much of Montreal. The Old City is just a short walk away which means the dining opportunities are second to none. John and Jane did a great job of making us feel right at home, providing us with a welcome gift of a bag of Montreal bagels and cream cheese (our breakfast staple), suggestions for local dining and activities and the opportunity to rent bikes for the best rate in town. The beds are super comfortable and the bed and bath linens are of "hotel" calibre. This is definitely a place we would return to. Many thanks to John and Jane for providing us with superb accommodation.

The third floor rental provided the most wonderful feeling of roominess. It was 75 and sunny the 3 days we were there...so we were able to really enjoy the balcony and the outside wooden table..we never used the barbecue because my son wanted us to try these staple restaurants of Montreal...but, next time, I hope we can fire it up. The rooms were wonderful...the furniture old antiques (like we have at home) and the den was a real treat...for atmosphere, all places pale to this.

We would totally recommend the Gallery 3 apartment for anyone wanting a beautiful home away from home in Montreal ... and at a better value than staying in a hotel! The three of us stayed for just over a week while attending a trade show in central Montreal. We were welcomed by John and Jane and provided with a wealth of very useful local info (as well as some very tasty bagels!). The apartment is clean, well appointed and has a great 'feel'. Love the wooden floors and the bed was super-comfy! The apartment is very light and private being on the top floor. The location is great, with a good selection of restaurants within walking distance, as well as a large supermarket. To get into town is a breeze, either by the Metro (a five minute walk) or by a very scenic bike ride along the canals (10-15min ride). Can't really find a fault with the setup ... definitely recommend to all! Cheers Mike

We were able to enjoy our meals in the sun. The owner are very friendly and helpfuf and we were welcomed with bagels and cream cheese. My wife and I have rented condos through VRBO in a number of places. We have never had a better experience than in John and Jane's gallery 3. The property itself is outstandingly clean and well supplied. The location is excellent. We used the metro extensively, and the Opus cards so thoughtfully provided by our hosts made purchasing tickets easy and economical. We also biked extensively - Montreal is the most bike-friendly city we've seen. Picking up fresh food at the Atwater Market, and preparing it in the fully-equipped kitchen and on the barbecue, then relaxing over a meal and wine on the delightful deck made for wonderful evenings. The only possible drawback to this unit is the stairs. No problem for most, but people with mobility restrictions might want to talk to John and Jane about one of their other suites. You won't find better hosts!

Montreal is a lively city, but if you are looking for a quiet place to relax at the end of the day, this is it. The kitchen is fully equipped (including cast iron pans!). The apartment was very clean, and bed was comfortable. A binder in the apartment had suggestions for nearby walks and restaurants, one of which was excellent. The location is great, near Atwater Market (and our daughter's apartment!), the furnishings are VERY comfortable, and the kitchen and bath are modern - there's even a dishwasher!! But the best part, from my husband's point of view, is the BBQ grill on the deck. All the comforts of home! The apartment is also stocked with books, videos and games; we spent a couple of fun evenings playing "Balderdash". This will definitely be our first choice on return trips to Montreal - our "home away from home" in this wonderful city!

We stayed for a week on business and found the apartment to be a perfect retreat. It is one of the best equipped vacation rentals we have seen, in a quiet part of town yet easily accessible by car to the different parts of the city. (We didn't use the Metro but saw that is was very close by.) Parking was very easy. The apartment felt instantly homelike. We loved the view over the rooftop, especially as the sun was coming up. Everything was very clean, and the bagels were delicious. Dealing with John and Jane was very pleasant and efficient.

It was very clean and a cozy. They had all the amenities and provided Montreal bagels for the stay-which were delicious. It had a DVD collection which was good for adults and children. We have two children and it was quiet and very comfortable. I will be going back!
Owner response:Thanks, we look forward to seeing you again! John & Jane

Very well managed location with on site owners willing to take the extra step to accomodate needs of travellers. Information provided in the unit was helpful for commuting and dining. Good location for our needs and easy to commute from the residence to any part of montreal. Clean unit with adequate supplies and linen. An old looking location with very well furnished inside.

Just an excellent "home away from home" to stay at, for however long you might feel like visiting beautiful Montreal. And home is the right word too,...it's much more comfortable then a hotel room. Clean, private, quiet, and well stocked with what one would need when visiting anywhere, it made for a pleasant environment to base ourselves on our visit to Montreal. There were 6 of us, and we fit in it's comfortable environment just fine. Bonus: Atwater area is a great historic location to take a stroll through, and being within 5 minutes of a Metro subway stop to see other parts of Montreal was of great convenience too. Would we go back? But of course, it's a great place, that simple!
Owner response:The McDonagh family is a repeat guest from NOV 2008. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you again in the future!

The apartment was wonderful, spotless and prefect for a family of four. The kitchen is fully equipped and great for cooking. We would definitely stay there again and enjoyed the proximity of the supermarkets, subway, highways and restaurants.

We stayed 2 weeks, and will stay again on our next trip to Montreal.Totally charming, immaculate, and everything you coould need. The location is quiet and yet there is a feeling of energy about.Close to markets, historical places(Lachine canal). John and Jane were very professional and warm hosts. We can't say enough good things about our experience. Read comments from previous guests, they are spot on. We will be back! Will and Judy
