Hana Oceanfront Cottages, Permit #BBHA/2011/0001. “E Komo Mai” that means “Welcome or Come In” in Hawaiian and that is how you will feel when you join us in secluded Hana, Maui. We offer two of the finest couples only vacations rentals located at one of the best beaches in all of Hawaii, Hamoa Beach. This is the 'Real Hawaiian Experience' uncrowded and not commercialized offering the feel of old Hawaii and very lush and tropical. If you are looking for the perfect get–a-way from it all then Hana is the place to be. Tropical beauty abounds wherever you look, from the blue green Pacific Ocean to the magical mountain peaks of an ancient volcano. The Hamoa Beach Cottage sits just 50 feet from the water’s edge and is just a short one minute walk to digging your toes in the golden black sands of Hamoa Beach. Most mornings, if you go down to the beach before 10AM you will have the beach to yourself. If surf is up enjoy the show from your private lanai, or in the winter watch the Humpback Whales breach off the point, what a sight. The beach also offers entertainment from the numerous bogie boarders, and also from the newest craze, stand up paddle boarders; all this can be viewed from your private lanai. Hamoa Beach is also a great place to frolic in the surf or to work on your tan while reading a book. The Cottage is also a short walk to another fantastic beach, called Koki Beach, where the locals hang out and surfing is usually at its best. There are also numerous hikes just outside your door, or drive seven miles to the Seven Sacred Pools and hike up to the tallest waterfall on Maui that you can hike to, the 400 foot drop Waimuku Falls. The one trail head takes you through the magical bamboo forest and if the wind is blowing it sounds like a symphony of wind chimes, and there are also places to stop for a cool refreshing dip in a mountain pool. If your preference is to experience this on horseback, there is a stable nearby that will take you up to the falls and offer a wonderful cultural experience along the way. There is also a trail from your Cottage into the quaint Hana town which is off the main Hana Highway along a bluff with panoramic views of the ocean and this trail was once used as a train track to carry sugar cane down to Hamoa Beach. If relaxing is your ideal of a vacation then the sound of the surf will lull you to sleep every night or book a massage with some of the finest massage therapists on the islands. If you love experiencing the flavors of the islands then stop at any of the numerous Farmer stands along the way and try exotic fruits, vegetables, numerous varieties of banana or mac nut breads. Hana is a place to savor and explore and staying at least three nights will get you right into the mellow laid back way of life that this magical place has to offer! “E Komo Mai” you will feel so welcome in Hana and at Hana Oceanfront Cottages!

There should be no question that this is the real Hawai'i, the paradise so often spoken of. It is a place for those who want privacy, beauty, reverence, nature, and realness. You are surrounded by hard working Hawai'ians managing their farms, selling their produce, keeping up their shops, raising their families, fishing for their livlihood. Hana Oceanfront Cottages is exactly that. It is a beautifully decorated compact cottage - everything you need, tastefully appointed, and very personal. You will feel that you are in a plantation home. The beach is just off the front porch and across the lane. There were hours where we were the only ones on the beaches in this area. Walks will take you to secluded waterfall pools where you swim next to the ocean. Or you may walk through the coconut groves or banana fields, or into town. You will have your soul restored. Extraordinary.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

The Cottage at Hana by the Sea is a dream come true. The location, the atmosphere, and the hosts, Sandi and Dan are exquisite. The rooms are beautifully appointed and immaculate. There is a well-equipped kitchen, so we brought our own groceries and cooked almost all of our meals which we enjoyed on the spacious deck, looking out at the ocean. Hamoa Beach is not even a 2-minute walk from the cottage. Beach gear and beach towels are provided, and there is an outdoor shower as well. Sandi and Dan are wonderful hosts. They gave us great advice about lovely places in the area to visit, local restaurants, and different activities to do. One afternoon, Sandi handed us a warm loaf of home made bread! Another time, Dan appeared with a bunch of fresh bananas grown right there in the garden. Ours was an unforgettable experience, the best way to visit Maui. We can't recommend it highly enough.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We just returned from our third stay at the "Cottage". Our hosts, Dan and Sandi, are friendly and welcoming making sure that the place is in tip top condition inside and out. The first time we went we stayed for 3 nights thinking we might run out of things to do in Hana. Our second and third stays have been for a week. We just go grocery shopping before we head to Hana and then pick up a few things at the roadside stands or the general store (an experience in itself). The cottage is perfectly clean and beautifully decorated, the gardens are gorgeous, and of course the views out the windows and from the front porch are to die for. We did some hiking, some boogie boarding, some beach time, and lots of just relaxing. Hana gets some rain, some times a lot of rain, so some relaxing should be on the list of things to do. We have explored quite a bit of the area around Hana and our opinion is that Hana Oceanfront Cottages has no equal. We are grateful that Dan and Sandi graciously share their bit of paradiseRecommended for: Romantic getaway.

I don't even know where to begin! I've been to Hana twice now and it is just an incredible place. So amazing and just truly paradise. When i was in the process of looking for a place to stay, i was very picky and wanted somewhere incredibly romantic to my wife as it was our honeymoon and i wasn't really in the mindset of just settling on any location. I was looking a little late in the game for a great place to stay on our visit and a lot of the other places i looked had filled up but then i stumbled onto Dan and Sandi's property through an agent who had recommended them and i've got to tell you, i could NOT be any happier that we found them. We stayed in the Beach Cottage right off the road and it was the best decision i think we could have made for our visit. You can look right out the front window and see the highly rated Hamoa Beach waves crashing on the shore. There is a gorgeous mountain range in the same line of sight as well and if you're a fan of incredible sunsets, this is your place. Not only was the view incredible, but Dan and Sandi are very thorough in their cleaning of the cottage. We arrived early in the day and they were cleaning from a previous guest and they let us drop our bags and continue exploring, which we thought was really cool of them to do because we didn't want to leave all of our valuables in the car and hike, etc, so that was an awesome gesture. We came back 3 hours later and they were still cleaning! The place was incredible. I would have eaten off of the floor :) The price initially threw me off because i felt it was a little on the high side but im telling you if you want a little piece of paradise in an immaculate cottage, it won't even phase you once you're in there. If you don't know, bring your own food when you come to Hana. There really isn't a good selection but Dan and Sandi have just about every amenity i could have asked for so bring food to cook and have a blast at this amazing cottage! Best property in Hana, hands down!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

What a beautiful piece of true Paradise! I wasn't expecting such a gem when I arrived at Hana Oceanfront Cottages. The suite was beautifully appointed, spacious & what a view! The property is immaculate & full of photo opportunities if you are a shutter bug like me. Dan made sure to show me where to find all of the extras for beach & outdoor plans although I was content just grabbing my towel & camera for a very short walk across the street & down the stairs to the most beautiful beach. Everything you would need was at your fingertips. Sitting on the lanai watching the sun go down was so peacefull. I only wish I had spent more time enjoying the treasure I discovered here. While this was my second trip to Hana, it was my first time at Hana Oceanfront Cottages but will NOT be my last. I look forward to my next visit & will make sure it is longer so I can enjoy it fully. Mahalo Sandi & Dan for sharing your hidden treasure! Deb R Anchorage, AKRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Aloha Deb, Thank you for joining us and sharing all your fantastic photos with me. I would love to have you return to our bit of paradise in the not too distant future. Aloha, Sandi and Dan

Never having been to Maui, I was really nervous making the drive on the long and windy Hana Highway past other "vacation rental" signs. Little did we know, this drive would be our biggest blessing. Once we arrived at te Hamoa Oceanfront Cottages and met Dan and Sandi we didn't want to leave. Hana is the perfect place to spend time away from the fast-paced modern world. Yes, there is high speed Internet and cable TV, but we opted out and tried to meet as many locals as we could. It didn't take long. We ran into the same people throughout our time there and everyone was very friendly. Try the clay wood-fired pizza while watching a retro movie projected on a bed sheet at Hana Farms and take your leftovers home wrapped in a banana leaf. Paddle board or just laze around at beautiful Hamoa Beach. At times we had it all to ourselves! We spent every morning on the lanai with coffee and every eveningi with a glass of wine admiring Dan's meticulous tropical landscaping. The grounds and suite are immaculate. Sandi's great tour guide binders tell you all about great hikes closeby, including the red and black sand beaches. Dont expect a McDonalds or a Starbucks here--the Hasegawa General Store has everything you need. The Hamoa Beach Cotages are THE BEST place to stay on Maui for a relaxing and romantic getaway. P.S. - We got engaged on the most beautiful secret beach in the world!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We stayed in the cottage for 3 night and felt like we were in paradise! Probably the best place to stay in Hana. The porch is perfect for watching the surfers and hearing the sweet sounds of the ocean. The cottage is well stocked with all sorts of kitchen appliances and such. It truely does feel like a home away from home. We highly recommend staying a few nights in Hana and to stay in the cottage!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We just spent a wonderful week in Hana. The cottage and property were even better than advertised. The entire place was beautifully maintained. Hamoa beach was gorgeous. The short walk to the beach was lovely. I can't decide if I preferred the empty beach at sunrise or the beach with paddle boarding locals at sunset. The cottage had everything you could wish for. Dan and Sandi were so helpful with advice about local attractions and hikes. Sandi will warn you that there is limited access to fresh fish, chicken, meat, fruit and vegetables in Hana. Remember to bring provisions with you. The cottage has all the cooking implements you could dream of and the outdoor gas barbecue under the tiki torches was wonderful. There are plenty of activities during the day in Hana. Hiking, snorkeling and kayaking were great. There is no night life to speak of so plan to bring plenty of books and relax in your lovely cottage getaway. This is definitely the best place to stay in Hana. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to return soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Seriously, believe all the 5 star reviews. Hana Oceanfront Cottages is a great spot. We stayed in the cottage for our honeymoon, and it was perfect. It's quite, peaceful, and rural. So, don't expect malls and tons of tourists. Hamoa Beach is fabulous and just a few steps away. Beach chairs, boogie boards, and other items are all ready to having you enjoying the surf and sand as soon as you arrive. Really top notch place to stay in Hana.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: For Dan and Sandi Simoni dreams really can and do come true. We feel we are proof of that as we are living our dream! Dan and I first visited Maui in 1982 and the moment we landed on this tropical paradise we knew that one day this island would be our permanent home. Our first drive to Hana was the typical day trip, and when we arrived in Hana after driving over three hours from the West side of the island where we were staying, I remember saying to Dan “Wow, this is beautiful but who could ever live here!” Little did we know what the good Lord had in store for us. Moving to Maui was not in our plans at that time but we felt that destiny would bring us there. In October 1997, we stayed in Hana for a week and decided to call the local realtor in town and ask if he had time to show us some property. We weren’t prepared to purchase or move right away, but wanted to get a feel for the real estate market. After spending one hour with him, he drove us by a vacant lot that had just come up for sale, which was totally overgrown with weeds. As we stood on the middle of the lot, barely able to look over the thick vegetation, our hearts pounded as we gazed at the blue green Pacific Ocean looking out at Hamoa Beach. When we returned home we prayed about it and made the decision to sell everything in California, give up our two lucrative careers, move to Hana, and go into business as Inn Keepers. Construction of our facility began in January 1999 and on December 19th of that year we moved in and opened our business in March 2000. We hope that one day you will be able to experience the beauty of Hana with us and to know that dreams definitely do come true!
Why the Owner Chose Hana:
Dan and I always wanted to move to Hawaii and fell in love with Hana in the 1980's. It wasn't until 1997 that we happened on this special property that had never been for sale in the history of Hawaii and had been in litigation for close to 40 years. Timing is everything and when we step foot on this special 'Aina' (means land in Hawaiian) we knew this was our destiny. There were very few vacation rentals in Hana and only one small hotel in town. As a frequent traveler to Hana we were not in a financial position to stay at the Hotel and many of the vacation rentals were weathered. We decided that we could create a nitch market by offering incredible vacation accommodations at one of the best locations in all of Hawaii, Hamoa Beach, and as it is said 'The Rest is History'!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
If you are looking for a romantic get-a-way, or just a way to escaped the reality of the world, then Hana is the place to be. Offering breathtaking scenery and views of the Pacific Ocean, some of the best hikes and eco-adventures anywhere, then this is a must place to visit. You can go out and explore all of the vast Hana area or you can stay close to your home away from home and do nothing but gaze out at the surf or go down and take a dip at Hamoa Beach. Each day is a bit of Paradise to savor and enjoy all that this pristine area has to offer.
