We parked the car and didn't drive again for 4 full weeks at this lovely beach cottage. The location was perfect for us! Large church parking lot and tall hedgeline buffer this cutie house from La Jolla Blvd. Less than 2 blk walk to Windnsea Beach and many other beaches. Everyday, we walked to beaches, the town and every possible convenience incl. groceries, restaurants (so many fabulous places to eat) by the dozen, boutiques, museum, ice cream/yogurt, coffee houses, comedy store, bookstores, pharmacies, tailors, galleries, tennis courts, running track, Seal Beach (really called Children's Beach) etc. This and the surrounding streets teem with beautiful cottages and mansions. So much to see. In the house, the rooms are big and just as pictured. The main room is my favorite with its high beamed ceiling and comfy couches. The kitchen is fully stocked with every day-to-day flatware, cooking, and dish/cup/mug need. Every part of the house was spit-spot upon entry and topped with a beautiful vase of fresh cut sunflowers. Kitchen and full bath counters are vintage 50s-60s style and create a cool vibe. Modern gas stove worked great. Dishwasher worked great as well. The fridge was so clean, it looked like it had never been used. We managed just fine with the 1 full bath (generously stocked with fresh clean beach and bath towels). We usually had 5-6 guests and had no problem sharing the big bathroom for showers. Laundry closet and baths include the basic cleaning supplies and tools (or you can request/pay for maid service, though we opted to just clean after ourselves). The WiFi worked perfectly -- our college-aged teens were able to do online summer school classes without a single hiccup from any part of the house. So many places to dine and spread out. The bedroom mattresses were extremely comfortable, and bed linens were super clean, fresh and in great supply -- plenty of pillows and extra comforters. Lots of seating throughout house and 2 foldout couches. The kids were able to come and go at all hours safely and find plenty to do around town. When we first arrived, we found a remote for the TV didn't work. It was replaced within an hour! You can really dig in here and feel like you're at home. That's what we did. My husband had to drag me out of there, honestly.
Recommended for:Age 55+, pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
