In March my husband and I spent one month at this cottage. We were extremely pleased and plan to return next year. The cottage is in a very quiet neighborhood within walking distance of several restaurants and a small town beach. We found the house extremely clean and comfortable. Outside is a small yard and a huge deck on the canal where we spent many hours relaxing and watching the beautiful birds and fish. There were also kayaks, a paddle boat, and bicycles which we enjoyed using. It was the perfect place for us to spend a relaxing month. Kong and Linda, the owners, were friendly and very willing to do whatever they could to make our stay pleasant.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A delightful cottage on the canal and near a small beach. Restaurants within walking distance and you can find anything you want on the main highway leading to Hudson. The home was well stocked with linens, towels, cooking utensils, had a decent Wi-fi connection. We truly enjoyed the large deck overlooking the canal, a great place for morning coffee, dinner by starlight or to just sit and watch the many birds that came to visit. Would recommend this property, the description and photos were quite accurate- hope to return year!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

A paradise for boaters, fishermen, and vacationers lielvarde (Gainesville, Florida) Review submitted: August 11, 2010 Date of arrival: July 19, 2010 We had a wonderful time at Kong and Linda's rental. I took my boat on this trip to do lots of fishing. It was so convenient being able to dock the boat out back. The public ramp is only a quarter of a mile away and is free to use. Fishing was terrific! I landed my first cobia and we caught lots of 3 and 4 foot sharks. The house is conveniently located close to several very good restaurants, a few bait stores (live shrimp was always available at Cooper's), and a convenient store. We walked to the beach and restaurants on several occasions. The beach is quite small. It's sort of like the size of a nice sized back yard. There are better beaches around 7 miles south of the home, but this small beach was perfect for the kids (2 and 4 years old). I had car problems from day one and the car was in the shop for a few days during our trip. It made no difference, since everything was in walking distance (or biking distance, which there are plenty to use). The house is kept super clean. No dust, no weird smells. It was just fantastic. Even in the Florida heat of July, we were able to sit out on the deck in the evening. We fished off the deck and caught some pinfish, catfish, and a few others. Overall, this was an amazing experience and we loved every day we stayed in Hudson at Kong and Linda's rental. I would recommend this to everyone! This was a very great find. We spent lots of time on the wonderful deck. It was very peaceful setting out there. It was well appointed and convenient to our needs for daily drives to check the area out. The Inn on the Gulf is a great restaruant. I would recommend to anyone going to the area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was one of the most relaxing of our trips to Florida. The cottage was spotless and stocked with everything you might possibly need. We enjoyed cooking out and relaxing on the deck. If you choose to go out, there are local eateries within a five minute walk. If you prefer the well known chains, they are within ten minutes drive time. The corner ice cream shop is a great place for evening treats. We found bike trails close by so we could work off the ice cream. The big beaches are also a short drive if the local beach is not to your liking. The sunsets are gorgeous. The owners met us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the house. We took their advice to heart when they said to relax and enjoy. It is a perfect location. It is out of the city, but close enough to go if you want too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

"Unforgettable" is the word. - What a lovely comfortable cottage, with everything one would need. Bicycles for adults and children - even an adult "three-wheeler". A paddle boat with a small motor to "chug" along the canal. Fishing rods for fishing off the deck that overlooks the water. Wait until the dark when you can turn on the lovely lights on the deck We had a lovely experience staying in the cottage, even when the weather wasn't as nice as we would have liked.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you and its alway good to know our guest had an "Unforgetable" stay.

Wow! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful cottage for our honeymoon. We really lucked up finding homeowners who provide a lovely, clean, and beautiful rental. The home was spotless and we spent countless hours on the deck overlooking the canal. The paddle boat was a ton of fun too. Peaceful serene setting in the REAL Florida. Just wonderful! We look forward to many visits in the future. The furnishings and decor made us feel as if we were at a B&B but with privacy. Thanks for all the TLC. We are eagerly anticipating our next visit.Owner response: It was a pleasure meeting both of you and we are very happy to know you had a great honeymoon. Thank you - Kong & Linda

Larry and I spent a wonderful week there, while visiting his family in the area. Larry's uncle spent a couple of days with us at the house. Everyone agreed -- the place is delightful, well equipped and very clean. I especially like the big shower. The deck of course is the main attraction, along with the wildlife along the canal. We had a beautiful Night Heron visiting daily. We have plans to return in the near future!Owner response: Thank you for your kind comment and we are glad your uncle was able to enjoyed the cottage.

Hello Linda & Kong ! We have been visiting relatives in your area for 25 years. We've always stayed in hotels. This time my daughter and grandson came out from Denver also. My daughter had the bright idea to check out Home Away Connect and found your great vacation home. It worked out perfectly!! Super clean, very nicely remodeled and location was closer than hotels. Thanks for keeping it so reasonably priced. We will return !Owner response: Hello Bob & Linda, Thank you for the kind words. Kong & Linda

We truly enjoyed our weeklong stay at Kong and Linda's cottage and it was indeed, "unforgettable". We relaxed on the great deck under the tiki hut in the back yard, took our boat out exploring the waters and fishing and did lots of shopping at the nearby stores. It really was a fun time and the weather could not have been better! The home is decorated very nicely, kept spotless and all the amenities are up to date. A great retreat! Thanks! I had originally booked this lovely little cottage for a week and fell in love upon arrival. I was lucky enough to be able to extend my stay for a second week. The owners of this property have thought of everything that make staying here cozy and comfortable. The place is spotless and very tastefully decorated in "beach cottage" style. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with every cooking utensil and gadget you could possibly need. There is a huge tiki hut in the back yard that sits over the water. There are several restaurants and an ice-cream shop within easy walking distance. Hudson Beach, an easy walk from the cottage, is a small realistic slice of real Florida. This was a working visit for me and I spent many an hour using my laptop out on the deck. The wireless access included in the rental was a real bonus for me. I would happily recommend this rental to anyone who wants a quiet Florida retreat setting. Shopping & theaters are a simple 5 minute drive. Beautiful place! This property was perfect for 6 women on a long weekend getaway! We had plenty of room to cook some great meals, enjoy drinks on the deck on the canal, and for all of us to sleep rather comfortably. The property was very clean and the management very hospitable and welcoming. The beach in Hudson is not ideal for us seasoned beachcombers, but the house made up for the shortcomings in the local beach. Also, Sam's, the local hangout was fun for a night of good priced drinks and dancing! Great vacation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent a week at the end of May in this beautiful cottage and absolutely loved it. It had such homey touches and furnishings and everything we needed was provided. We spent all of our early mornings and evenings out on the deck in the Tiki Hut. Haven't been that relaxed in ages. The location was perfect, too, as you could walk down to the Gulf and get a bite to eat and have some "boat" drinks or head up to Rt. 19 and travel wherever you wanted. Under an hour away is Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, a great place to see manatees! Thanks, Kong and Linda, for providing such a great "home away from home"! This cozy cottage is fantastic! Lovely, new interior with your own little paradise out back - from the patio and beautiful foliage to the large deck complete with tiki hut subtly outlined in colorful lights & music! Great location - not too far from town and yet somehow you feel secluded here - and totally relaxed. The owners thought of everything you'd need (or forgot)! We enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you Kong & Linda!Owner response: Thank you and we are glad you enjoyed our cottage and it is always our pleasure. Kong & Linda

Had a wonderful time! Linda & Kong were there to personally greet us when we arrived and made us feel welcome in their home right from the start. As beautiful and tastefully decorated the house was we spent the majority of our time enjoying the lanai. Comfortable beds and everything you need for your stay is there. Close to a grocery store and Super WalMart for grocery purchases. Walking distance to the gulf to enjoy beautiful sunsets or take a stroll to the wonderful ice cream stand just down the street. We made use of both the charcoal & gas grill for at least 3 of our meals with wonderfull results. We cannot express how pleased we were with both Kong & Linda and their wonderful property. We will return. The BainsOwner response: Thank you, we are happy to know that you'll enjoyed and had a wonderful time here. Looking forward to see you guys again. Kong & Linda By the way, thank you very much for the beautiful pictures especially the sunset.

Dear Kong and Linda, We could not be more pleased with your bungalow vacation home. Your thoughtful appointment of amenities went far above what was expected. Our every desire was answered with style, comfort and a festive Florida flare. The location was very convenient for experiencing Florida's best west coast beaches. We enjoyed Honeymoon, St. Pete's, Sunset and the fun beach at Caladesi Island where we learned to net conch shells in the surf. We ended perfect days by grilling steaks from the local meat market, and we enjoyed these meals on a romantic deck over the canal. To those who are considering this rental, you have our highest recommendation. Kong and Linda, you are a class act. Thanks for your innkeeper's heart of hospitality and for your prompt return of the deposit. Best Regards, George & Mary GibsonOwner response: Thank you for your kind comments, we are very glad you enjoyed your stay. Kong & Linda

Kong; First let me say that our stay was very good, and thanks for your promped return of the security deposit. As far as the acomodations thery were great.Need a vent fan in main B/R.Gutter over french doors, and a stop so itdoesn't go to far and strike the conctete blocks. All so we used the gas grill for some steaks and the grease pan leaked onto the gas bottle. The bolt that secures the pan isn't sealed. Thank you and would it be possible to rent for 2 days?Ray MintonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
