  We enjoyed our 3 week stay at the cottage. Appliances are new. The place was clean. A very short walk to the beach and a convenient location for restaurants, ice cream, groceries, etc. Alan, the owner, was very friendly and quick with the turn around of previous guests.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  A group of us stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and we had a really great time. The house is adorable and it's only a short walk to the beach. Alan (owner?) was very flexible and friendly and easy to coordinate with. He also had really great suggestions about where to go for food and entertainment. We ate at Theresa's next door one night and did not enjoy it at all. It's expensive mediocre food at best. But we cooked most of the time anyway on the grill outside which was a lot of fun. It would have been nice to have wifi (we're all addicted to our phones and some of us had to work) but all in all, we highly recommend this place and would definitely go back.

  Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car.

  Too many negatives to list but a few examples are: tenants still occupying the cottage upon our contracted date of arrival who were erroneously advised they had several more days to stay; owner arranged for handyman to paint laundryroom during our rental period however we politely asked him to return at a later date. It's obvious that a cleaning service is NOT hired between tenants as it was not very clean with trash still in bathroom from prior tenants who had to abruptly leave the cottage. Constant battle with flies inside and out due to the adjacent restaurant. No outside seating other than 2 splintery rockers. Dark walkway up to house from parking lot in the rear...bring a flashlight so as not to trip over bicycles used by staff at restaurant. Basic household necessities such as a coffeemaker (French Press is there), toilet bowl brush, and other supplies were not provided. Somewhat deceptive calling it brand new as it previously was a retail store but is now a rental property. Positive comments: Owner did apologize for tenant mix up and bought us dinner at the restaurant next door. The cottage's proximity to beach, park, shops, deli, bakery and dining and the fact that it is pet friendly.

  Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car.

  Owner response: Confused is correct! The ironic thing about this review is that at the end of their stay they asked to come back in 2011. Hmmmm? As with all reviews/suggestions we take these to heart. We did make a scheduling error that was quickly corrected (1 hour) and as a note of good faith bought this couple dinner at one of the nicest restaurants around. We strive to make out tenants stay a positive one. We value the experience and time with family and hope you will enjoy your stay in Bay Head as much as our other tenants have over the years.

  We enjoyed our stay and were particularly pleased with the very short walk to the beautiful beach. The smell from Theresa's South restaurant right next door wasn't great on a hot day (though it was never loud), but the proximity to Curtis' Central Market made up for it for me. The market was good, had great prices and the staff was very friendly. The house is small, but has everything you need and we appreciated the updated kitchen appliances. A few minor improvements would make the cottage perfect (the TV was ridiculously old and small and only the VCR worked... yes, VCR!) and I would have appreciated beach chairs. We left one we bought so I hope it will be of use for future renters).

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

  We loved this cute cottage--a perfect base for everything we wanted to see and do in Bay Head. So close to the ocean, and to the bay. The inside is clean and new. Our bed was very comfy, and we especially loved the shower.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
