Year Purchased: 2000
I am an Executive in my 40s who bought this Victorian treasure back in 2000 along with my mother (shown in photo). We fully restored the home using a neighborhood architect, who helped us maintain the Victorian charm while adding modern comforts. This is one of the few Victorians in San Francisco that is listed as a Historic Property. Many Victorians were "chopped-up" and the details and moldings removed over the years. This home was built in 1883, and withstood two earthquakes. We are certain you'll enjoy staying at "Octavia Rose!"
Why the Owner Chose Hayes Valley
We bought this property because we knew that Hayes Valley was quickly becoming one of the most chic neighborhoods in the City. The house sits on the world-famous, tree-lined Octavia Boulevard. Public transportation to all parts of the City is within a few minutes walk in all directions. We are close to major markets, as well as one of the best "Mom and Pop" corner grocers in the City. Hayes Valley has wonderful restaurants and unique shops.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
Although the home is in the heart of the City, the flat is quiet! The bedrooms are located in the back portion of the house, off a long hallway. The cherry mahogany soft-wood floors, tall ceilings, Victorian details make this a gem! Everyone who has stayed at "Octavia Rose" has told us it is the most beautiful of homes and a complete San Francisco treat!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this fantastic flat with our 1 year daughter. The word "flat" does not do justice to this amazing property. It truly is "super-luxury" in every sense of the word. Everything from the Victorian architecture to the gas fireplace and gourmet kitchen is truly exquisite! The amenities were fantastic including stereo, DVD player, wireless internet, outdoor grill, garage, and washer/dryer - to only name a few. The location of the property is ideal - it is only a short 5 min walk to the Hayes Valley center with a wonderful park, restaurants, cafes, etc, short drive to Golden Gate park and further on to the beach, and just off the freeway. We enjoyed our time immensely staying here and enthusiastically recommend this property for anyone staying in the city. The owners were amazingly helpful and responded immediately to all of our requests and questions. If you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed!

Our group of six recently stayed at this beautiful flat. It had an extremely elegant and luxurious feel, but what we most enjoyed was the historic feel of the flat and its authentic Victorian charm. It is in a great central location, close to mass transit and a short walk to the shops and restaurants of Hayes Valley. The owner Carrie was a pleasure to deal with and went out of her way to communicate with us and make our stay as pleasant as possible. We highly recommend this property, as it will add a great deal to your stay in the beautiful city of San Francisco.

This rental will NOT disappoint. It was pure luxury, close to everything and made my recent vacation there even better. The amenities were plentiful. The furnishings were elegant without being stuffy, it was completely comfortable and felt great to come home everyday. There is so much to do in San Francisco but it really was a great feeling to come back to the house after a long day of sightseeing. The location is near everything and there is also public transporation near by. Although we didn't plan on renting a car, the garage came in very handy. The owner takes the time to let you feel welcome and also includes locations of places to visit, tips on what to do and detailed instructions for all the workings of the home. I can't say enough about this place and would stay here again when I come back to San Francisco. This rental truly made this trip one of the best vacations I've ever had.

This is a great place. Very comfy and in a perfect location to walk to anything you might need. There are lots of great restaurants nearby, as well as shops and groceries. The owners are very easy to deal with. We would stay there again when we visit San Francisco for sure.

Just got back from a weeks stay in San Francisco. This townhouse is gorgeous! Wonderful period details and so comfortable and elegant. It is very centrally located and we walked to several great restaurants. Carrie is a delight to work with and has great ideas for having fun in the area.

Comment Text: We highly recommend this vacation rental!! It is elegantly furnished and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is awesome! And, has everything you could need for a pleasant stay. The flat is much more spacious than the photos suggest. It is a short walk to public transportation, little markets, a supermarket, and numerous restaurants, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!

This property is better then the description of "Super-Luxury" - it is absolutely purely fantastic. The location is perfect for getting all around San Francisco - nearby to great restaurants; public transportation; wonderful neighborhood park. The furnishings are exquisite - and if you like to cook you will want to take the kitchen home with you! Every little amenity that you would want is there - down to a washer/dryer; iron; blow dryer; etc. The owners are the best - friendly and very kind. Don't pass up this great property if you are looking for a wonderful San Francisco experience.

This is a wonderfully stylish flat, with everything you could possibly need, and it had plenty of room for the five of us. The location is great, with easy access to the freeway and and within a few blocks of good food, shopping and coffee. The owner, Carrie, left detailed information on the neighborhood that was very helpful, and she also went out of her way to help with a balky wireless Internet connection, which I desperately needed for some pre-wedding tasks. Parking in the neighborhood can be difficult since you need a permit (otherwise you have to move your car every two hours during the day), so the garage came in very handy. But you really don't need a car since the neighborhood is centrally located and has good access to public transit. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much!

This is one of the best vrbo rentals we have ever had. The house is superbly, completely, and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is to die for. And the location couldn't be better. We walked to the SF symphony and the Asian Art Museum. And it is an easy drive to Golden Gate park and the Golden Gate bridge. Hayes Valley itself is a delightful up and coming community, with good restaurants and coffee shops. The owners were very, very helpful. We'll be back often.
