I just returned from spending a week in Jamaica at Sea Mist in Duncans. Duncans is a sleepy community far from the crowds of Montego Bay. It's quiet with a beautiful beach, dark enough at night to see so many stars!! The beach was never crowded and is a minute walk from Sea Mist. Beverly took great care of us, making dinner when we asked and even chopping veggies for an Italian dinner. Ashley was so helpful, serving us coconut water everyday and accompanying us on excursions. If you want a vacation in the REAL Jamaica, a restful experience - choose Duncans. It is beautiful.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

We just returned from our 10 day holiday in Jamaica (it was too short). When we arrived at the villa, we were greeted by Ashley and Beverly. They were there throughout our stay and provided us with all the help we needed, and if we didn’t need it they would “disappear” too. Ashley was our guide and friend the whole time we were there. If we wanted to go somewhere, he’d arrange it and accompany us too, if we wanted. He also cooked some jerk chicken & fish for us on the grill. Ask him for suggestions of what to see or do. Beverly kept the place clean, even when we brought in half the beach sand. She cooked awesome meals, took us shopping for food to the local grocery, and the Market in Falmouth. She made local dishes, including banana flitters, chicken and fish with brown sauce/gravy (which our son loved), curry chicken. The Duncan’s Bay area is a small community right on the beach, it’s a beautiful and peaceful area. The villa is within close walking distance to the beach, we could see it from our villam. hear the ocean and feel the breeze through the screened windows. There is local fish to buy reasonably, when the ocean allows fishing. A fruit and vegetable truck comes Mon Wed Fri Sat, or you can go to the town grocery store. The beach has a beautiful powdery white sand, there are very few people on the beach at any given time. Sunday is the busiest, when the locals come, but still lots of space. When it’s not too windy you can snorkel from the beach. We were not constantly harassed to buy things. On occasion we were asked, but a simple no thanks or not today, was sufficient. We saw several different kinds of fish, and one day there were many small stingrays. A short distance down the beach, are tide pools to explore. A short distance the other way is the fisherman’s “wharf”, Leroy’s Bar, Jullette’s restaurant, and a few local craft shops. For us, our holiday would not have been as great without the local people in the area, and especially the staff at Sea Mist – they made us feel safe and at home. We cried when we left, and hope to see them again in the near future. We didn’t do many excursions, we just wanted to enjoy the beach and relax. We did go to the luminous lagoon (we recommend). If you go there for dinner, you get half off your boat ride (you can swim too). We recommend this to anyone that wants to experience the real Jamaica, and we would definitely go backm just don’t know when, as we still want to travel.other places.
