  12 of us went up to Fairplay for a retreat. We all work for the same non-profit, and enjoyed relaxing together. The house was great: large and open, with plenty of everything. We cooked all our meals in the house, and the kitchen was well set up. We watched the stars from the hot tub. We went hiking. We played lots of games in the great room. We used the grill, and the deck. And we watched several movies. The best feature was the view. You could see the mountains from almost every room. The only thing we wished we'd had was a bigger dining table. Theirs seats 8 (I think), and we had 12 people. Alex was very helpful and responsive to our questions. Overall it was a great weekend.

  Beautiful cabin, beautiful location. Had a wonderful time. Have two teenagers who absolutely loved the lower level with pool table, tv, weight room, etc. Mom and Dad enjoyed the bar area! The views are spectacular. We would recommend this cabin to anyone, whether it be a family or group of adults. We were expecting the kitchen to be smaller due to previous reviews. It is not a huge kitchen, but certainly spacious enough for cooking, etc. and is fully stocked with necessities such as coffee pot, toaster, dishwasher, pots, pans, all kinds of dishes, and so on. All around great cabin and great getaway! On a side note, after reading previous reviews, and having raised 3 kids, we would not be afraid to bring little ones or toddlers to this cabin.

  We very much enjoyed our weekend Everything was fine. Bring your own food since restaurants are not real close. Relaxing place. Just a little scary for young kids since the wood rails are way too wide and we were constantly worried about our 2 year old. But other than that it was great. I recommend that the owners fix the railing before a tragedy happens. Or perhaps they could install a child gate at the bottom of the stairs so kids can not crawl up and fall.

The house passed all inspections and the rails also passed inspection. There are a number of restaurants in Fairplay, less than 10 minutes away, my favorite is Millonzi's.   This house is gorgeous. Beautifully decorated. Sitting on the patio with wonderful views of the mountains. The best time to be there is in the sumer you can be outside on the deck and not freeze. If you love quiet peaceful setting lots this is the house. Lots of outdoor stuff to do. The price is great for 4 bedroom, 4 bath.

  My family and I spent four days in absolute luxury with all the amenities you could wish for. As mentioned in previous posts the Kitchen is small but I would add efficient, well appointed, and functional. The great room with its 3 story windows, comfy sofas and chairs, and unique fireplace that acts as the focal point of the room, does not disappoint. Everything in the house is theme related to the rustic outdoors and the history of the area including aboriginal artifacts. The house itself is far enough away from Fairplay to give you a sense of remoteness and solitude yet close enough to be convenient for shopping and such. The best feature of this house are the multiple decks which provide amazing vistas of the mountains and surrounding area which you never tire from viewing except maybe when the stars come out! The Celestial heavens are Stellar! If you have binoculars or a Telescope don't leave home with it. My only remorse is that we should have stayed longer. Incidently there's no WiFi so you may have to communicate with each other rather than a device.

  For the first time ever, we had a family vacation of all three of our children, their spouses and our grandchildren. 15 in total (2 babies, 1 that is 2 years old and one six months). Everything that was depicted in the listing was accurate. The home is a very comfortable 4 BR, 4 BA home with breathtaking views. The kids loved the downstairs area with it's pool table, ping pong and big screen TV. With this many people, we were anticipating that quiet would not be a part of the vacation but it was. It is big enough that you can have your space or be together as a family. One thing that I really liked about the main living area was no TV, no WIFI. Everyone actually sat around and talked. The only negative on that living level was the bathroom was in the main level bedroom. Minor detail tho. We had a problem with the heating in the main level. I sent the owner an email and was contacted soon thereafter the the problem was corrected. The ambient temperature range was unbelieveable, high 40's at night, mid to high 60's daytime. One of the kids had an altitude app on her phone. It registered 11,241 at the house and I believe it. It rained several of the days but as indicated the county does a good job in maintaining the roads and that was not an issue. The town of Fairplay itself does not offer much, but Breckenridge is only about 30 minutes away. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I being the payor felt that it was a good value for the investment. We would recommend this home without reservation and may make this an annual or every other year event.

  We enjoyed staying at this home between Christmas & New Years. We had 7 adults and 8 children (between 1 and 11). The home is very spacious (5600 square feet) and very clean and well-maintained. A hot tub was a critical feature for our group and we were disappointed to find it not working when we arrived. The owners fixed it half way through our trip, though, which we appreciated. The other issue is that it was a tiny hot tub... probably 24 inches deep max, I would guess. Good for the baby (safe) but it was hard to get warm and stay covered with water. 4 adults would be tight. Below are some detailed pros and cons. Pros: - Size of home (you don't feel cramped) - Full-size pool table (we really enjoyed this) - Quality of furnishings and décor - Bathrooms for each bedroom (each is like a master) - Workout room with ping pong table - Plenty of parking for cars Cons: - Hot tub issue (see above) - The slats on the railings inside are not to code, i.e. they are too far apart. There is a suspended bridge that is above the family room which leads to the bedrooms. Our 2-year old walked through the slats and out onto an art landing about 12 feet above the tile floor and we about had a heart attack but were able to talk her back. She was old enough to learn from this and didn't do it again. My sister's 1-year old was kept safe by using a baby gate on main floor. So just be smart. - The kitchen is a bit small for such a large home. The dining area in particular is very small -- can seat only 7 adults at the round table -- would be ideal to have seating for 12 or so. I am guessing that many people use the cabin in the summer and take advantage of the seating on the deck. - Beware that this area is extremely windy!!! Can make for a chilly outing, e.g. cross-country skiing etc. It's not as protected as other areas like Blue River outside Breck, or Vail Valley, etc. But then again it is a lot more affordable too. - Couldn't use INPUT-3 on basement TV for video games / external player - Kitchen could use some better equipment (higher quality pots/pans, stovetop that doesn't burn food -- was really hard to work with, more durable dishes esp. glasses) - No bathroom on main floor except in bedroom, which is a little odd - No true mudroom or place to hang wet clothes/jackets and put shoes (the laundry room was overflowing with stuff when kids came in from sledding); seems like place is mostly used during the summer, from what I can tell

Three days ago, we received in the mail the five items your party accidentally took from the house and we will not charge you for braking the stone elephant and braking the bedrooms ceramic bear, and glasses. The house was build to code as it passed each building inspection, and we would suggest and strongly recommend to any and all parents not to let their two-year old child, or any minor child, walk up and down any stairs unsupervised. The kitchen has All-Clad Cookware, All Clad being some of the best cookware in the market and Mi Casa dishes, and other quality kitchen items. Our glass stovetop has always work well, please note that cooking at high altitude is different than cooking at sea level. During previous Christmases and Thanksgivings, we have had our group of ten people comfortably sit at the dining table, all average size adults. We are glad you found the house well decorated and each bedroom comfortable. Our house is surrounded by mature Pine trees and Aspens trees, which shelter our property from the elements. Breck and Vail get more storms and are more exposed than our area, that's why the sky resorts are located in Vail and Breck. Colorado Mountain weather is unpredictable as any other weather, some times sunny, windy, cloud, rainy. I wanted to have the right information about the hot tub and just spoke the hot tub manufacturer. Their specifications are that the tub has “Jetted seats for 4 people, 5-6 people could fit but it would be tight, the hot tub is not shallower that other hot tubs”. I looked at my email records and I did email you seventeen days before your arrival regarding the hot tub not working, and it was fixed by December 28th as per our agreement. The laundry room has always served as a great mud room for our multiple annual ski trips and for any other guests. Take care and thank you for returning the house items.

  My family spent Thanksgiving at the cabin, and had a great time. There were three families, with 2 kids each, and we had plenty of room. The cabin is well appointed and the area has plenty of outdoor activities- we especially enjoyed the basement TV/Pool Table area. A hot tub would have been nice, but it looks like it's out of commission...

  The parents 50th was on the horizon. We grew up in Colorado-let's go there. Alex and Carlos, your cabin is magnificent. i think the pictures give the renter a good idea of what the home looks like, but it is so much more. The interior is tastefully done in mountain decor. The directions were easy and it is ok to drive the speed limit over those gravel roads. We had a great time: relaxing, visiting, cooking, hiking, visiting SP museum, driving over to Breckenridge...I honestly don't know that we could have had a more perfect experience. Thank you for allowing our large party to use your vacation home. Do you have a beach house? ;)

  Our group had an excellent experience at this cabin. The place was clean, the beds and furniture were comfortable, the decks were huge, and the views were incredible. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans/plates/utensils. The owners were very quick to answer any questions we had. The house was so nice we barely left it to see the sights. We had an all-around great trip. Thanks!

  We had a great time with our family in this beautiful home. It is incredible with its custom construction. The location is very convenient. Far enough out to be a little remote, but close to highway to get into Fairplay area or over to Breckenridge. Everything was great and worked perfectly. We all agreed that we want to come back next year.

  We stayed here over the 4th of July and loved the house. It was tastefully decorated and had all the amenities. The view is awesome from every window in the house. The owners were very friendly. I would definately recommend this home to anyone, especially if you have a large group.

  This is a beautiful property that is great for large groups. However, know beforehand what you will have to pay in cleaning fees for your group. My group was charged what seemed like a very excessive and outlandish cleaning fee 9 days after we left, and we had made sure we left the property in great condition and followed all the owner's instructions. Also, the hot tub was not working during our stay. Very unfortunate end to a great trip.

  Owner response: We do not like to keep any portion of a guest deposit because it signals some was done to our house. Regrettably, Trey and his party did not leave "the property in great condition" and they did not "followed all the owner's instructions". They left the house excessively messy, moved furniture around the house, rugs were left rolled up, table, chairs and other items were moved and left out of place. Farther, the gym was moved out of place to put the ping pong table there . Both the kitchen oven and grill were left very dirty, propane tank valve was left open. We receive weekly reports from the management company and once we received the report we contacted Trey. We called the cleaning company to confirm their report and extra fees. I told Trey about the hot tub not working and it was not an issue until we email him about the extra costs. We did not make any money from Trey's deposit. We charged Trey our cost to bring the property to the same conditions it was before Trey's party stayed there. Please read our other reviews, all of them 5/5 stars, and you will see Trey's review is out of context based on our service level towards all our guest. I pride myself in being honest and objective both in my personal and professional. Trey's review is very disappointing to me.

  First of all, the pictures do not do this home justice. The home is huge, the bedrooms are large, well-decorated, and each bathroom is very large. So much room to spread out and there isn't a bad view in the place. THe locale is secluded and serene and very easy to get to, despite it being in the mountains. The game & exercise room are great and, let me just say, the floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining room make meals a treat, whether night or day. I will agree with other posters that altitude sickness may be a concern, at least for the first day. I live in CO at an elevation of 6500 ft, but I wasn't prepared for 11,000 feet. Eat, drink plenty of water, and rest the first day and you'll be fine! Alex & Carlos were great, processed everything (including the refund of the deposit) quickly and were very pleasant to deal with. A must stay and we do hope to stay there in the summer at some point. Don't pass up this property!

  My family & friends stayed here during a snowy weekend and loved it. We are already planning to come back during warmer weather. Layout is great with 3 levels. Plenty of space. We had a blast playing pool, checkers, ping pong, etc. Hope to be back this Summer!

  Words cannot do justice to this beautiful cabin with it's breathtaking views. Everything you need to have a memorable stay is provided, just bring your family and food. Alex is a pleasure to work with, and will do just about anything to make your stay unforgetable. The cabin is much bigger than it looks in the pictures, and can easily accommodate even the biggest family. We had 12 in our party and still had plenty of room available. Location is great, pretty close to Breckenridge, but still isolated enough for a feeling of privacy. We all look forward to visiting again.

  We had a group of 10 (8 adults and 2 kids) and this house worked perfectly. The house has everything you need in the way of supplies and is well laid out. It was large enough for everyone to have their own space but still had great rooms for spending time together. The downstairs game room was a huge hit with the kids (and some adults) and the views from the deck were gorgeous. We had several visits from a moose with her two calfs - they came all the way up to the lower porch to eat so you could really see them close up. We also saw a fox, deer and plenty of birds. My only warning would be the altitude - the house is at about 11,000 feet and while this makes for great views, it also meant several of us dealt with altitude sickness the first day or so. Just something we weren't used to. Overall it made for a great getaway and we would definitely go back!

  The house was big enough for our family gathering. We were all able to get away from each other for some private time. Kitchen stocked with all the pots and pans you will need, and even spices. Plenty of blankets for all. The house does have everything you will need, just bring your clothes, washer and dryer avaialbe too. And beautiful flowers all around the grounds. Front deck great for getting out of the sun, and back deck large, relaxing, beautiful view; and best of all, we held a wedding ceremony on the deck and it was so special! Thank you for the fast communications and transactions with the owners! The altitude did affect some of our family members, and this we did not anticipate. The folks of Fairplay are so nice and helpful. We do recommend this affordable rental; but you will find that it's hard to leave the comfort, view and beauty of this home!

  I almost don't want to write this so the competition doesn't increase, but this house was beyond my expectation. They are spot on about each of the bedrooms. All are very nice, have their own bath and deck, and are decorated in western and American Indian theme. The views from the decks are incredible. This is the heart of Colorado. Trips to Breckenridge do not take very long, and Fairplay, at least in the summer, has any necessities you may need. For the size of the house, and price, this has to be one of the best deals on VRBO, and I plan a stay at least once a year. I’ve stayed in northern New Mexico before, and it gets a little expensive, so you feel like you are not getting a good deal, but with this home, you feel you came out ahead.

  We had a wonderful time and the home was large enough for all our family to enjoy. The children loved the space to run around and we didn't feel like there was a lot that they could hurt which was nice. We didn't see a ping pong table which we were a little disappointed about but the pool table was nice. We have already talked to our friends about doing this with their families. The owners were so helpful to us as first time users to the site. They were very quick to answer e-mails and quick to return the deposit afterwards. Tammy

  Great house with beautiful mountain views. House is very big and has everything - pool table, big screen TV, great deck, plenty of space for two or three families. Nice to be able to bring our dogs. Easy drive from Denver. Owner was very responsive via e:mail. Would definitely rent the house again.

  We spent an extended weekend in this roomy, comfortable cabin with two families celebrating our grandson's first birthday. The indoor space was very expansive, accommodating a large number of people, and giving everyone a place to hang out, play pool, or soak up the springtime sun on the large deck facing incredible views! The bedrooms, not pictured on the website, are nicely decorated, with thier own balconies, three of which also have gorgeous views, and one over the parking area. The beds are comfortable and the quilts give each room a warm and inviting feel. This property is a great value and we are talking about our next trip there already!

  my wife and i rent homes aboout three times a year and this has been one of the nicest. the house is well maintained and has a variety of activities in and close by. you can fill the house with music with the multiple bose systems while preparing your favorite meal in the well stocked kitchen, play pool, relax on the deck or keep up with your workout routine. alex was very accomodating to our needs and made sure our stay was flawless. thanks alex

  My family and I all went up for a little getaway this past weekend. My Mom is in a wheelchair so it was important to find a place where she could get around. She had a little trouble in the bathroom (no hand rails) but overall it was great for her! We really enjoyed our stay! The house was great! It was even better than we expected! So big and cozy! The view was beautiful! We loved just sitting on the deck and soaking it in! Carlos & Alex were so helpful and nice! We had a wonderful time!!! Hoping to come back next year!!! THANK YOU!:)

  We recently had our wedding in Fairplay and used this gorgeous house as our home base. Everything, from the clean, well-furnished and stocked house, plentiful entertainment and hang-out spaces, magnificent views and mountain peacefulness, to doing business with the owners, was 5-star. We would definitely recommend this delightful retreat spot and hope to visit again in the future.

  This is an awesome place to unwind for a few days. We had a large group and we had plenty of room to be together or to have our own space. The views were great, we loved the pool table and the unique decor and furnishings. We all wished we could have stayed longer.

  What a beautiful house and spectacular vistas! The home is not only large but very comfortable with more than enough room for our family of eight. We stayed for almost three week but with the very spacious decks, a large living room, good sized bedrooms, numerous bathrooms and a nice recreational room, we all felt comfortable and at home. In addition, the pricing was excellent. We are already thinking about next year.

  I searched long and hard for a home to accommodate our large group for the right price and this was it! Both the home and location are beautiful. Between the pool table, hot tub and the natural surrounding we could have stayed at the cabin our entire trip with no complaints. This has everything you could ever need away from home and probably more! The house alone was amazing but the decor makes it that much better - very, very impressive. Aside from the home, the owners were very helpful from setting up the reservations to the beginning of our stay. I called with questions a few times and they answered each call - I never had to wait for a call back. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for an unforgettable getaway.

  This house was beyond nice and was a great relaxing stay with PLENTY of room and furnished very nice. Breathe taking views, Hot tub, and even a basement with entertainment for everyone! I will be staying here again as we have stayed all around Summit County and this has been our best home for sure! Thanks again Alex as we had a great time. Kent
