  I attended my niece's wedding at Ohana Retreat. The entire wedding party & most guests stayed there a week and we had plenty of room to mingle or to escape to our private quarters w/ private lanai if quiet time was desired. The two houses were perfect for group meals and allowed separation of youngsters’ vs older folks. And although everyone got along great, it also lessened the potential awkwardness of divorced parents under one roof. The pool area and pavilion also added more gathering (or escape) areas. And the grounds are quintessential Hawaiian with flowers, palm trees, green grass, waterfall… not to mention the wonderful garden and orchard area in which we were allowed to harvest fresh goods. The pictures posted are beautiful, but no pictures could do this place justice. It was THE perfect place for this type of gathering. It is also walking distance to the beach/ocean and town is a short distance away (you could walk or certainly bike). The Retreat also provides many extras for activities (bikes, kayaks, ping pong, shuffle board, boogie boards…) so many we didn’t get to use them all. Lisa & Matt were very helpful too. Thanks! I hope to be back one day.

  We recently stayed at Ohana Retreat for a wedding. Randall the property manager is awesome - was there for everything we needed and was instrumental in making this an amazing and memorable time for everyone! The place is beautiful - the rooms are spacious and even without a/c we were very comfortable. Loved the community kitchen and gathering areas and the pool was great -- never felt crowded even with 40+ people there! If you're looking for a place for a wedding, reunion or vacation this is the place to check out! Very close to Kona, Magic Sands (great beach and body surfing!) and just off of Alii drive so it is easy to get everywhere. They have bikes and several guests would bike into Kona in the the morning for coffee. And to top it off -- the chocolate is heavenly! The Pavillon is beautiful and my daughter had a wonderful, intimate wedding.

  We came across this property while planning for our father's retirement celebration. We stayed for 10 days in late June of 2010. I consider myself well-traveled and I'm a frequent patron of VRBO.com properties. I feel very fortunate to say that our experience at this property has surpassed every aspect of our expectations. From a tour by owner, Carolyn, upon our arrival to the last handshake with manager, Randel, our experience has been filled with wonderful discoveries, soothing relaxation, and meticulously-provided convenience. Everyone enjoyed strolling through your orchards in the morning and harvesting some coconuts, mangos, etc. Swimming pool was blissfully relaxing after boogie-boarding in Magic Sand Beach. Barbecues and candle-lit dinners at huge lanai were a joy. I especially loved the hammock in the backyard. I look forward to another privilege of staying at Ohana Retreat. And I thank Carolyn, Randel, and other staff member in making my father's retirement celebration a huge success. Thank you! Joon

  I can't say ANYTHING bad about the Ohana Retreat! Every little detail was amazing. I was lucky enough to have my wedding there and the experience was incredible. I will never be able to imagine anything better than what I received! The pictures actually don't do the place much justice. It is so beautiful there and the beach is only a minute walk away. I took a chance on this place as I had a really good feeling from Carolyn (the owner) as I couldn't find any reviews on the plantation. Was I ever relieved when we arrived that day! Way better than I ever expected. Randell (the grounds keeper) is great, if you need anything he gets it! Also has an abundance of great info on where to go and where to not "waste" your money. Anyway, I could go on and on about the house and location, but, I will say that I HIGHLY recommend this place and I will be sure to return in the very near future! Hopefully for our 1st anniversary!
