Year Purchased: 2008
We built this cabin in 2008 just after returning from a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois. We had sold our previous home. We have served 2 more missions since then and chose to put our home on the nightly rental market while we were away. We have been pleasantly surprised at how well that went. It has been very rewarding to provide a place for families to gather from all over the world and build memories that strengthen family ties.
Ellen is a general contractor and Mel is a retired mason contractor. We have built and sold numerous homes in the Bear Lake Valley. We have just completed another cabin that is new on the rental market. You can see it on this VRBO site also. Look for listing #333745.

We have lived in the Bear Lake Valley for 15 years. We like the beauty of nature that surrounds us. It is affordable to have horse property. We like the people in our community. It is very quiet in our little town 46 weeks of the year.

We have had so much fun this weekend for our family reunion at "The Gathering Place"! The home is beautiful and we had plenty of beds and space to spread out. We enjoyed 2 days at the beach as well as the show at Pickleville Playhouse! Thanks for such a great place to stay for our group of 32. Everything was wonderful. We loved it!

Our family reunion was a HUGE success! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely mountain home. All 42 of us from the grandparents to the youngest grandchild have had a marvelous time. Your home has a wonderful friendly atmosphere, we all felt very comfortable. Thanks for sharing your lovely, spacious home as "The Gathering Place" For our family reunion. Amazingly, it was big enough for privacy & cozy enough for intimacy amongst 40 + people. How did you ever build that concept into your house plans? There was plenty to keep family of all ages happily engaged in worthwhile, relationship building activities.
