We had a wonderful weekend at the Southport Suites. The place is lovely and well-kept, and in an excellent location -- close to Southport Brown Line, walk-able to Wrigley Field. In addition, it was the perfect place to stay with a child. We appreciated the extra accommodations for children: pack and play, high chair, even a stroller. It was nice to be able to put our son to bed early and be able to relax in the living room or on the backyard patio. We will recommend to friends, and certainly stay again if the opportunity arises.

We booked this location in order to be in a new area of Chicago for us, in order to attend our son's graduation from Loyola University. While this was not extremely close to Loyola, it was close with the use of the easily accessed EL Brown line, which can also get you to the Loop in a very reasonable amount of time. If there had been a home game for the Cubs, we may not have had this great opportunity. We loved the location, easily walking distance to everything we wanted to do (and even to Wrigleyville). Grocery store for the occasions to eat in - 2 blocks. Coffee - less than a block. Shopping for Mother's day -- less than a block! The owners have made this a completely accommodated flat, everything we needed was there -- including furnishings for a baby. The unit was quiet, very comfortable, and appointed with anything we needed to serve our needs for our extended family of 5 plus infant. The young relatives who live in Chicago wanted to know how they could find such a nice place to rent on a continual basis. We will definitely use this location again, if it is available. Very well done!!

I stayed at the condo for four days, and, honestly, couldn't have higher praise. Everything was neat and tidy when we arrived and the instructions to check in were perfect. The condo had everything we needed and then some, even our own coffee supplies. It's just a short walk to the train, which will take you anywhere, yet I never once heard any noise from it. It's safe, secure and the perfect spot for a group or two couples. Upon arrival I couldn't believe the price, I would've paid much more for it. I highly recommend the place!

There is an advertisment on UK television for wood stain who'se slogan states "Does exactly what it says on the tin" Well Jim's apartment follows that slogan to the letter, it has to be one of the best places we have rented not only in Chicago but elsewhere, and we have travelled extensively. Everything Jim and other reviewers have stated about the apartment is true, location, facilities etc, and I would heartily endorse this great apartment in a superb area of Chicago to anyone, as we have already done to friends and relatives. We will be back next year for sure.

A Perfect " Home Away from Home!"

I moved my daughter to Chicago recently, and we stayed at The Southport Suites for Four nights. It was perfect in every way! Impeccably clean, comfortable beds with down comforters and high end bedding-a lovely kitchen for breakfasts and snacks. A beautifully decorated house with all the comforts of home, plus a garage space for the car!! I did not have one complaint, and the icing on the cake was how efficiently all my arrangements were made via email with Jim from the road!! I will definitely be back when I visit my daughter! Oh, did I mention Starbucks only 1/2 block away, right next to the train?? So accessible to get downtown to see the Chicago sights!!

The condo was wonderful in every way. Don't know where to begin--the location is great--the place is awsome. You could not ask for more. This is a great place in the city. We used it over the Christmas break for extra room for the extended family. It was extremely clean and well maintened. We will definatley use it in the future. It is perfert for a family visitng Chicago, getaway weekend for a group or two people. It is steps from restaurants and the "L" that gets you downtown in no time. The booking, check-in and check-out process is perfect and it comes with a garaged parking spot.

We have 3 small children and this was the PERFECT place for us to stay. Not only did it have all the comforts of a high-end home {ie, beds, linens, kitchen}, the location is quite wonderful. My husband had to go downtown several times, and he just rode the Metro {literally a block from the front steps}, downtown. For those who have kids, it is just a block from a park, and a local indoor coffee shop/play place for kids {perfect for those unexpected rainy days}. The restaurant choices are also great! If you are not from the city, this is a PERFECT city experience with all the comforts of home! We will stay here again!

We loved everything about our weekend stay! We were in Chicago for the Marathon and loved being close enough to downtown but out far enough to enjoy some breathing room! The train was steps away which made transportation extremely convenient. The neighborhood was lovely with a family friendly atmosphere, delicious eating, and enjoyable nightlife. The inside of the suite offered it all! Comfort and elegance. I have been telling my friends and family that Southport Suites is the place to stay when visiting Chicago. I can't wait to go back!

Highly recommend a family to stay at this location. We have a 3 and 1 year year old and the apartment was very accomadating. Neighborhood was friendly. The "El" was close by about 1/2 a block and grocery store within 2 blocks. I would most definitely stay again if we plan to visit in the future.

You couldn't ask for a better location, just steps from shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. While the area stays busy late, it was never too loud for us. We stayed here with our two young children and found the neighborhood and its residents to be very kid-friendly, with nearby playgrounds and even an ice cream shop a few doors down. The home is nicely designed and comes with everything one would need--and it's wonderful to have both outdoor space and a garage. There is excellent access to the El, making getting downtown or anywhre else quick and easy. The suite management was great throughout the process, very communicative and responsive. Overall a great choice when visiting Chicago.

This property was wonderful! Location was great, lots of great restaurants and coffee shops close by. Walking distance to Wrigley Field. It was extremely clean and quiet despite being on a busy street! The beds were so comfy and I wanted to take one of the pillows home with me! Mass transit was super close and convenient. We even found a grocery store that was fairly close. All in all this property was fabulous and we would definetly stay here again. Also the manager was so accomodating and helpful, really a 5 star stay! Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very clean apartment (which included the free supply of various toiletries), the location cannot be beaten, as previous reviewers have mentioned. It is extremely close to transport, shops, bars and restaurants. The flat was lovely and cool after a days sightseeing and we enjoyed a cool drink or two on the back deck. We also agree with the comment about the squeaky floorboards and the noisy footsteps from the upstairs neighbours, which cannot be helped due to the historic construction of the property. All in all we had a great time and would not hesitate in recommending this rental.

Upon our arrival, we were very pleased to find that the suite was just as pictured. Likewise, it was a convenient walk to Wrigley and there were numerous restaurants, bars, and cute boutiques nearby. There is also a CVS and Jewel Osco just down the street (to the left) and the brown line train station (to the right). If you plan on visiting the downtown area (Millenium park, Navy pier, Aquarium, Magnificent Mile..) you will often have to change trains and/or take a bus to some of popular locations- unless of course, you choose to take a taxi which can get pretty expensive if you are a single family and not sharing the cost. Likewise, if you do use the trains, you need to plan on at least a 30 min.(or more) commute to these areas. So, if you don't mind the extra time and are comfortable using public transportation, then this should be fine. However, if you are less concerned with neighborhood charm, and want to be directly in the middle of some of the "touristy" locations, you should consider staying downtown. We loved the area and were willing to use the trains. My only complaint with regard to our stay was the squeaky floors. Because it is a renovated space, the original floors are extremely noisy. Most of the time, it was fine, but at night and in the morning it was annoying to be awoken by someone just walking to the restroom. Also, because there is another suite located directly above, we could hear them walking around on their squeaky floors (and their running toddler....which was really unavoidable and just our bad luck for that stay). All in all, we did enjoy our stay...minus some really loud flooring.

Owner response:This is the 1st guest that has mentioned the floors??? In multi-unit bldgs with wood floors it is very common to hear walking above. I encourage my guests to please notify me if they have any problems. I will address them immediately.

We loved staying at Southport Suites. It was the perfect size for myself, my husband, my in-laws and our 5 month old son. Amenities such as a stroller, pack n play, high chair, laundry and driveway made the stay so easy for us. Not to mention that the apartment has a fantastic dining room for eating and kitchen and deck perfect for cooking and grilling. The neighborhood is lovely with shops, and great eateries such as Cooba and Julius Meinel cafe. I recommend this for any one looking for a home away from home in Chicago.

We had a wonderful stay at Chicago Southport Suites. The Suite was quite comfortable and appears in person as least as good as it does in the very attractive pictures online. It clean and very well equipped. We made two dinners at home. The neighborhood is a great place to "hangout" with all sorts of shops, restaurants and bars and if you're lucky enough to have the Cubs in town, its just a short walk to Wrigley field. The Brown line subway is a block away and it makes for quite convenient access to downtown. No doubt when we return to Chicago, we would hope to stay here again.

We had a wonderful family reunion in Wrigleyville! We came from CA, CO, and IN to see our SF Giants play the Cubs. Even though one game was rained out in an unusual spring storm, we had a ball! The condo was so comfortable, and most welcome to come back to after getting soaked at the ballpark. The neighborhood had a great selection of restaurants and everything was within easy walking distance. All of the nice touches of decor and amenities were really appreciated. Our stay at Southport Suites was wonderful. The unit is elegantly decorated and supported six adults very comfortably. Restaurants/Bars, grocery stores, shopping and the Brown line are all within walking distance. We were able to park our vehicles upon arrival (for no extra charge), and never had to move them until we had to leave for home. This apartment exceeded our expectations. It was close to get to the El, which we used to get downtown and to the Museum Campus. The neighborhood was great. There were many good restaurants and stores, all within walking distance. The apartment had all the conveniences of home. It was set up with games and movies. Our young family was very comfortable there. We also appreciated the superb communication and attention to detail shown by the owner. Chicago was more than we ever dreamed. He left us everything we needed to get around town, even a parking pass. The Suite was beautiful, clean, and so cozy. We went to Chicago for a Cubs game and never stopped moving for four days. There is so much to do in the area from restaurants to taverns, all within walking distance. Plus we could see the train from our front step so if we wanted to get farther we could, which we did. I really enjoyed the Field Museum and the Science and Industry Museum. I recommend place to anyone who enjoys life.

This was a fantastic condo! We were in the heart of Southport Ave, which is an excellent mix of families, parks, restaurants, boutiques, and only 2 blocks from the red line. The free garage parking spot is one of the best perks, as this will cost easily $50/day at a hotel- plus there are no worries about parking tickets. The condo itself is perfect for families. The kitchen is well stocked, cable and wi-fi are included, and the in-condo laundry make our stay a bit easier. With or without kids, this place is perfect. With kids (we have two age 3 and under), its even better!

Very quaint, clean and well-maintained property. Close to public transportation and excellent restaurants. Too bad the Cubs don't play in February, because it certainly was a short walk to Wrigley Field. Jim was very helpful and responded quickly to questions we had prior to arrival. Southport Suites exceeded our expectations. We were there for the blizzard of '11, 20 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 70 mph. We were snug and cozy inside. Walks and steps were cleared by the time the snow stopped. Really appreciated having the garage with door opener. The apartment was lovely, nicely decorated and filled with many extras. Sampled several local eateries. Shopped at the new Jewel and CVS a block and a half away. Very convenient area We would like to stay again.

My family and I were lucky enough to spend this thanksgiving with family in chicago and by staying at this apartment on North Southport we were able to have time away from family also and enjoy quality quiet time. The facilities and amenities were appreciated greatly by myself and my family. This apartment was a short drive to my sister's and she lent us her car. We enjoyed the Lakeview neighborhood -- the coffee shops, and restaurants-- the Whole Foods and the YMCA, all in walking distance.

Loved the cozy decor. Super close to Southport brown CTA line. Awesome restaurants and shops in the heart of Lakeview. Appreciated pack n play, high chair, stroller etc for our 15 month old son = less packing for us! The owner, Jim, provided great customer service. Easy to make this place our home away from home!

Chicago southport suites was a great place to stay. Everyone in our party was happy we stayed just outside of the city in such a charming neighborhood. There were plenty of bars, restaurants, spas, in walking distance. The condo was quiet and very well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our three year old loved the L train that would come by regularly when we were out walking. The playground across the street was ideal for his age group. So much to do in Chicago; navy pier, walking by the lake, free kids zoo, aquarium, river taxi.

My sister's and I rented this property for a long girls weekend to celebrate my mothers birthday. The place is beautiful and extremely comfortable. We had a couple minor issues (trying to figure out the thermostat and I-pod docking station), and both owners came immediately to help us out. They even sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to wish my mom a happy birthday and apologize for the minor issues. The location is great! There are some great places to eat and shop within 2 blocks. The train station is 1 block away, so we could easily go downtown. We can't wait to come back! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a home away from home!

My sisters and I took my Mom to Chicago to celebrate her 60th birthday and we surprised her with a stay at the Southport Suites. She was literally in tears when we walked through the doors as it was beyond her expectations as well as mine. The decor was beautiful and comfortable. It was also very clean. And it was a perfect size for the 4 of us. Right out the door you have shops, restaurants, spas. You are 2 blocks from the brand new Jewel grocery store and better yet, 1 block from the "L". We will definitely be staying at the Southport Suites again, and will recommend all of those travelling to Chicago to stay.

Love this place! Close to the L. Great nearby bars! Walking distance to Wrigley park! Recommend Schubas for weekend brunch! Will rent again if I head back to Chicago!

Great flat, well furnished, quiet except for the pitter patter of the twin infants upstairs, comfortable and convenient.

Our stay at your Southporte condo was great. The location was very convenient for us ---retail, restaurants, Wrigley Field, the el ---all at our fingertips. The condo itself is very accomodating, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Anything one might want / need while away from home was provided for us. If all properties are similar to this property, we would most definitely consider another rental.

This rental is everything and more! Literally upon entry into the condo each person in my family gasped and either said "oh wow!" or "this is absolutly perfect." Whatever your needs are this place has it - comfy livingroom, spacious kitchen, cozy bedrooms, beautiful lighting, and amazing location. The neighborhood is awesome day and night and as mentioned, Wrigley Field is blocks away --- the train is even closer. You seriously can't go wrong with this rental. We will definitely stay here again on another visit. Thanks Jim!

Southport Suites is a great spot! The neighborhood is one of the best features.....right near an Einstein Bagel, Starbucks, L stop, Southport cafe and grocery for a fabulous breakfast or lunch or chocolate pretzel cookies (yum!) plus walking distance to Wrigley Field. Dogs and kids were everywhere in this very strollable neighborhood including a small and new playground right across the street. We visited for 4 nights with our 2 small children. It had wonderful accomodations for small kids such a pack n' play and high chair which made us feel welcome with the kids. We were able to spread out over the 2 bedrooms, dining room, nicely sized kitchen and living room and not feel cramped. The luxurious beds, bathroom as well as bathrobes made it feel like we had a touch of a fancy hotel. A lovely kitchen with all the amenities and a parking spot to boot which made it all easier. and some nice architectural details to make the place more personable. Great spot!

As past residents of Chicago we knew this location was perfect. Great neighbohood-true Chicago feel. Great shops, restaurants, etc. The L is right across the street. We were able to use it easily to go to other places downtown. The apartment is very clean, and well take care of. Great outdoor space as well.

we stayed at this lovely unit for 5 nights with our 2 young sons and had a great time...walking distance to wrigley field, train to downtown, plenty of unique neighborhood stores and food. the unit itself was decorated very nicely, master bed was super comfortable and 2nd bedroom for the kids was in the rear, so no worry about noise from the street. the landlord was easy to deal with and responds timely via email...would def. stay there again

Staying at Southport Suites was like staying at a bed and breakfast. We were impressed with the attention to detail that helped make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location couldn't be better -- loads of restaurants in the area, cool shops, Wrigley Field and the El is just a block away. We loved having a garage to park in. The unit itself is gorgeous, with original woodwork and wood floors. The flat screen t.v. and Ipod docking station were a big hit with our 16 year old. In addition, Jim was there to help, making great restaurant suggestions. We would stay at Southport Suites again -- wish we were there right now!
