My husband and I have stayed at VRBO properties for years and Jack's Place ranks at the top. Cozy, clean, and comfortable. Stylish with a touch of whimsy. We were only able to stay 3 days but would have liked to stay longer. Will stay again on any return trips. Highly recommend! Five stars!! Jack goes above and beyond to make you feel at home away from home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Dale and I want to thank you for all the kindness and hospitality you showed us during our recent trip to Washington, DC. Jack, you are an amazing host. You catered to our requests making us feel welcome,at home and appreciated. Your cottage is a wonderful place to stay and the best value we've found in temporary accomodations in the area. It's also located in a very quiet residental area which we appreciated. We have traveled the US extensively throughout our career and prefer vacation rentals to hotel accomodations. We've never experienced as warm, comfortable and well appointed space as your cottage. The Alexandria location was convenient for travel to DC and Maryland and down to Fairfax and Springfield for business meetings. Old Town Alexandria is a great place for shopping and entertainment. We encourage visitors to spend time on King and Washington Streets to really get a good feel for Alexandria. Also, be sure to visit the cool art shops at the Torpedo Factory.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. My family and I stayed for 2 weeks. It became our little home away from home. It is in a great location. Jack was very sweet and hospitable and always tended to our needs. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Wonderful place to stay, neat and clean, a safe convenient neighborhood, and best of all, a friendly owner who will be your personal concierge, helping with all your needs. The bedroom area is small, but very comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom are great.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My wife and I stayed in Jack's Cottage for one week (12/2 to 12/9/2008) and found the property clean as a pin and close to everything and Jack was a very gracious host. We will definately go back and recommend it to our friends, John and Colette Eversole, Palm City, FloridaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

What a gem of a cottage! Nestled in an up-scale neighborhood, a short distance from the metro, you will find a great place to come home to. Whether you are traveling on business or a whirl-wind vacation, one thing for sure, you will be treated like royalty. The gardens are beautifully landscaped providing you with a peaceful escape from the hussle and bussle of your day. The gourmet kitchen has been newly updated and is fully equiped. The beds are very comfortable as well. Jack goes out of his way to make you feel at home. He is very accomodating and redefines the term "Southern hospitality". This is a charming cottage and we look forward to our next vacation here.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Cottage is a wonderful place to stay when working in Alexandria or exploring DC and its surrounds. Jack is an excellent host - extremely welcoming and helpful. He goes above and beyond the required to make guests have a great stay. The Cottage has all the conveniences you'd want, and is very close to the Metro - great for getting into DC. I couldn't recommend The Cottage more highly.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Whether you are taking a relaxing vacation or intend to run all over Washington like we did this is the PERFECT location for you! The cottage is situated on the outskirts of Old Town Alexandria, where an entire day can be spent crawling all the wonderful shops, or just down the street from the King Street Metro Station which can take you to downtown Washington and the surrounding attractions. After a fun filled day of site-seeing it was wonderful to come back to the cozy cottage that offers all the amenities of home. Located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood, the owner has seen to every detail. The full working kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave and automatic ice maker offers an option to eating every meal out, but there are several restaurants that are a MUST on your trip. Whatever your needs the owner Jack will bend over backwards to accommodate you and make you feel like family during your visit. I would encourage anyone to step out of the normal mundane hotel stay and indulge themselves in this relaxing and cozy cottage.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This a great place to stay in Alexandria. The cottage has been recently renovated and is very nice and clean and the garden too is very pretty. If you like peace and quiet this is the place for you. And, as everyone has already mentioned the owner will go out of his way to accommodate you. It is small and cozy, which is probably not preferable if you're a large person, but for the price you definitely can't beat it. I loved it here.Did you find this review helpful? Our stay was all we had anticipated, and more! Jack greeted us and showed us around this charming cottage and we were so impressed with the amenities......from incidentals such as cotton balls and Q-tips in the bathroom to a well stocked pantry - right down to spices and hot chocolate! Jack had provided us with a pitcher of orange juice, yogurt, English muffins, and jelly for our first day’s breakfast, but it lasted us several days. There was even a container of half-&-half to go with our coffee! The yard is quiet, except for the song of birds, and we enjoyed relaxing there, enjoying the beautiful flowers and plants. The convenience of being able to prepare our own breakfast every morning, lunch a few times, and even dinner one night when were tired of restaurant food is priceless. The neighborhood is middle-class, immaculate and very safe. It was a peasant walk to the Metro, but next time, we’ll take the bus to the King Street station. It was great walking there in the morning, but after sightseeing all day long in the August heat, we opted to take a bus back to the corner stop. There is only 3 hour, on street parking within a half-mile of the Metro station. What more can we say.......if we go back to the DC area again, and we probably will, we’ll definitely stay at “Jack’s Cottage” !!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: ALL DAY Street parking is available off the main street, which leads to the Metro. Additionally, you can drive 12 minutes to Huntington Metro Station and park your car there ALL DAY for $4.95 (there over 3,100 parking spaces!)

This comment isn't about the cottage, its about the owner. We had to cancel because of a death in our family. From day one, Jack treated us as a relative staying in his home. Every "extra" suggestion from us to make our stay better and more comfortable, he bent over backwards to accommodate our wishes. HIS MAIN CONCERN IS TO SINCERELY MAKE YOUR STAY THE BEST EVER!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
