For discerning guests, the recently renovated 19th century birth place and home of Puccini's librettist Luigi Illica. "Casa Illica" has been classified as an historical landmark by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities as it is the place were Luigi Illica wrote the lyrics for such Puccini opera classics as Madame Butterfly, La Boheme, and other less known as Iris. It will be interesting note for the opera connoisseurs to know that "the roofs of Paris" which are talked about in La Boheme, are actually those which the guests can see from the house!
Casa Illica is located in the medieval village of Castell'arquato, which was named "a village of art of rare beauty" by the club of the "most beautiful villages in Italy"
After one year of elaborate refurbishment, Casa Illica has been brought to the best standards of quality. Hand chosen antiques and Italian contemporary designed furniture provide a modern and yet classic look. Throughout the house, works of local and emerging artists are on show and available for acquisition to the guests who wish to do so.
Casa Illica can host up to 11 people, but can be easily divided so a party of only 5 people can be accommodated.
€7800/week for up to 11 persons..4200/week for smaller parties.
