Great place. The upstairs w/ 1 bdrm 1 bath is very nice, lovingly cared for, well appointed and nicely decorated with lots of reclaimed and re-purposed wood used. The lower level is completely separated from the upper level. Also very nice, but quite rustic compared to the posh top floor, not a bad thing but an amusing contrast. Seemed like a well built home with a thoughtful design. The 2nd floor is curiously high, perhaps so the view will always be above the treetops or the owners intended to park their RV on the first floor? I don't know. Regardless, everywhere you look, care was put into it; walls, floors, appliances, windows, furniture, garden, even the fence. I liked the 'mud room' upstairs with the cushioned bench to sit on while taking off your sandy shoes. We felt pampered. Great location. We could hear the ocean and when the winds were gale-force on our last morning it was peaceful inside. We ate down the street at Paula; gourmet and delicious and at the Hard Rain cafe; Fantastic pizza! We'd rent here again; bring the in-laws and let them bunk in the lower level. Plenty of room to eat together on the balcony, breakfast nook, kitchen bar or even the big table downstairs. Other notes: maybe not for toddlers. We have a well behaved 2 yr old but if yours is curious with the fingers then think twice. This is not a big deal but, I've gotten used to baby proofing and was surprised to see cleansers under the sink cabinet and exposed sockets (oh right; that's normal if you don't have a kid!). There's also one wall heater with a retro cover that left the heating element and fan exposed. The cute kitschy lamps and antique furniture plus the re-purposed wood paneling = lots of possible lead exposure if your child likes to put those types of things in their mouth. Ours doesn't, thankfully (we still kept our eyes on her!). The bed upstairs is a lovely pillow-top + box-spring = 3+ft off the ground and a potential fall injury for a little one. The downstairs loft looks like a great place to sleep with a view out to sea, but really quite high up (15+ft?) and accessible by narrow open slot stairs w/o a guardrail. The railing across the top of the loft is low and sparse. This would be fine for teenagers and adults but a little one could plummet to the textured concrete floor below (well covered with nice rugs, mind you) from every turn. Oh, and there's a deer head hanging up down there so if you aren't ready to have that conversation you might stay upstairs.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
