Casa De Jaguar, Most Photographed Home on the Island

Like new house and voted 'Most Photographed Home on the Island'. Casa de Jaguar lies at the more private, south end of Isla Mujeres. This Mexican-style hacienda overlooks the Caribbean Sea from all it’s lovely verandas, porches, and the large Infinity pool. Up to 9 guests can enjoy this home.
We are doing our part of 'Going Green', saving island resources. Installed our own transformer, adding new solar hot water system and solar pool heater. Also, whole house water softening system. More to come.
Enjoy your morning coffee, watching the sunrise from your veranda or venture upstairs to 2nd floor to enjoy 360 degree views of Isla and over to Cancun. This incredible house will meet all your needs, from a gourmet kitchen, entertainment center, home office, WIFI Internet throughout, washer/dryer, barbecue, indoor and outdoor dining areas, all king-sized beds, and much more. Spend your days relaxing in the pool or take off to town to stroll through artisan shops or enjoy the outdoor cafés.
Isla Mujeres (Island of Women) is a quick ferry ride 8 miles across the bay from Cancun. This beautiful island, 5 miles long and half a mile wide is like taking a step back in time. Pristine beaches, snorkeling, diving, deep-sea fishing, a turtle farm, in season whale shark tours and dolphin swim are but of a few of the things to see and do here.
No need for a car, hail an island taxi or rent a bike, moped or golf cart and set off on your own tour. Browse through the local crafts in the downtown area, and dine at any number of restaurants serving all types of cuisine. If you’re up for it, venture out to the colonia's for a truly authentic Mexican dinner.
There’s plenty of night life, from street entertainers to night clubs. Isla Mujeres offers it all in a smaller, more quaint atmosphere, free of the stress and hustle-bustle of the large resort areas. Once you've come to Isla, you’ll come again and again, or perhaps do as some have done and come to stay.

We have been to Isla 7 times and have stayed at Casa de Jaguar three of those visits. We have had as few as 4 and as many 9 (8 adults and a 2 year old). We never felt crowded, even with the nine of us in the house and in the pool. All three stays were spectacular. This house is amazing!! Richard and Susan go above and beyond in taking care of their guests. As other reviewers have stated, the pictures do not justice to the house or the views. The house itself is stunning inside and out with a beautiful pool and veranda. The house is situated within easy walking distance of the most beautiful (in my opinion) part of the island - the South Point and its walking trails. Also easy walking to the national park at Garafon and the snorkeling at Garafon de Castilla. Across the road is a walking path that runs along the east coast of the island. On our most recent visit, we saw dozens of sea turtles swimming just off the shore line. We would spend hours and hours in the pool and on the veranda just relaxing and recharging our mental/spiritual batteries. There is no place I can think of where we have vacationed that is more relaxing than sitting on the veranda or floating in the pool at Casa de Jaguar. The breezes coming off the water during our last stay were so pleasant that we never ran the A/C in the house during the day. The house is so well built and designed that the ocean breezes kept the interior very comfortable even during our stay in early June. The island itself offers as much or as little as you would want to do. From snorkeling, scuba diving, the whale sharks (in season), deep sea fishing, the turtle farm, live music, great dining, to soaking up the sun by the pool or at the beach. If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing, enjoyable place to stay while on Isla, this is the place for you. I know we will be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Scott, Richard & I thank you so much for the rave review. Your sincerity humbles us. We are very proud of our home and the island. Your continued loyalty to Casa de Jaguar and all your kind comments mean more than we can say. Please know that you are always welcome in our home. It's wonderful when we have guests that feel at home and treat our home with love, respect and just enjoy it the way you all have these past years. We hope to have you there again soon.

First of all, the owners Susan and Richard were most helpful in supplying additional information about the house and the island. Everything that we were told about the property, if anything, was understated! The house, property, view, location, etc was perfect. The pictures don't do it justice. The property was very clean and well maintained and the onsite managers, Sue and Miguel, were extremely helpful and so easy with which to work. One of the most amazing things to us was the fact that we had 8 people in the house taking showers at the same time and we never ran out of hot water!! There is no doubt that their claim of being "the most photographed home on the island" is very true. People were always taking pictures and waving! Bottomline, we fell in love with the property and would recommend this property to anyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We stayed at Casa de Jaguar for two weeks in July 2012. We are freguent visitors to isla and this is by far the best home we have ever stayed in! The owners have thought of everything! The location is on the southern end of the island, so you will need a golf cart, but for us, thats part of the fun of being on isla. The bottled water pump that feeds the refrigerator and icemaker is such a convenience. The kitchen is wonderful for preparing meals and has everything you need. The pool is great - we spent many days just relaxing on the patio and pool, overlooking the caribbean and waving to the golf carts as they went by. The house managers, Sue and Miguel, are wonderful. Susan and Richard, thank you for sharing your lovely home with us - we absolutely loved it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We rented Casa Del Jaguar for five weeks in 2010 and for two in 2011. Because of its ideal location at the south end of Isla Mujeres, it has been by far the best vacation house we have ever had. The Casa has large spacious rooms, is very kid friendly and we felt very secure. With the 10 of us (3 children) we had plenty of privacy throughout. With all the amenities and incredible views, we had a difficult time deciding if we wanted to go to the beach or just hang out around the pool and cook out. The Wrights are a very gracious couple and we felt very fortunate to have had the opportunity to bring home great memories of our vacation. Our grand-daughters tell us often that our Mexico vacation was "way better than Disney World"Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Case DeJaguar is an absolutely stunning home with all of the amenties imaginable. You know whenever you rent online, there is always a chance that the property won't measure up to the photos or to your expectations. Happily, that is not the case with Casa DeJaguar. It was the perfect house for our group in every way. In fact, it was hard to get our group out of the house to do much of anything else on the Island. Personally, I was pretty much parked on a lounger by a gorgeous infinity pool that affords the most amazing Ocean view ever. Enjoying the Ocean without the bother of sand is the greatest in my humble opinion. We thought we would go to town for entertainment and meals, but ended up buying groceries and cooking in the gourmet kitchen instead. And when we didn't cook, we brought home yummy local fare and enjoyed it out on the back porch while enjoying the lovely ocean breeze. We got pretty adventurous in the local food department and no one in our got sick. And if local doesn't sound good - you can order surprisingly good pizza and they deliver! When you arrive on the Isla ferry dock you will probably take a taxi to the property. If you aren't going to rent a golfcart, be sure you get the name and cell phone number from your driver. Then you can call the same driver every time you need a ride somewhere. If you have a bigger group, you just ask them to bring extra cabs. Our group of 6 easily got anywhere we needed to go either walking or calling cabs. And if we asked the driver(s) to be at the house at a certain time - they were always there on time. Casa DeJaguar is within walking distance to Garafon national reef park, Punta Sur overlook and several restaurants including El Pueblito where you can get 4 beers and quacamole for 100 pesos - what a deal! We usually go the all-inclusive vacation route and decided to try something different this time. I can honestly say that this is the first 7 day vacation I have taken where I wasn't ready to go home by day 4. In fact, I think I could have stayed the rest of the summer with no problem. The owners were super responsible and extremely easy to work with and the house managers Miguel and Sue were always on the ready to help answer any questions we had. Finally, the pace of Isla is very laid back and the people are friendly, helpful and gracious. I am looking forward to my next trip to Isla and Casa DeJaguar. Thanks!!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Laura, thank you so much for your very gracious review of Casa de Jaguar. Richard and I take great pride in our home and work very hard to make sure our guests are happy and well taken care of. It's funny that you mentioned eating in. When we are here, we hardly leave the property either. Richard is a great cook and we enjoy both the gourmet kitchen and the grilling area as well. Much more relaxing to eat in and watch the Caribbean from the veranda. Thanks again and come back anytime. Susan Wright

The infinity pool was luxurious and peaceful, overlooking the Caribean...very peaceful. The rooms were large, decorated with vibrant Mexican colors and the beds slept great! A large kitchen and grill area on the lanai made eating as simple or elegant as the day dictated. It was a peaceful golf cart drive in to town for shopping and dining. Swimming with the dophins was one of the highlights of the trip. This was a great place to escape!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Many thanks to you Debbie and Hank for your kind review of our home. I remember your group included your children and grandkids. I am pleased to know that all went well and that you enjoyed the pool, the house and our island with all it has to offer. Please come and see us again at Casa de Jaguar.

Amazing. We arrived at the Cancun Airport caught a taxi to the ferry to Isla Mujeres, stepped off the ferry and that is when our paradise vacation began. We arrived at Casa De Jaguar not knowing what to expect and was amazed and felt pretty lucky to have found this home on line. The view of the caribbean from the back porch was amazing. My husband and I actually felt as we had slowed down and were in "island time" (which is hard for us to do). The whole house felt comfortable, it was spotless. I thought we would go out in the evenings more then we did but decided to go to the little grocery store and cooked in the very nice gourmet kitchen. Every morning we got up and took a walk around the island. We saw the turtles, the dolphins, the locals and The caribbean breezed flowed and we fell in love all over again. I also thought we would go over to Cancun everyday. We never left Isla Mujeres, it had everything we needed and at the right pace. One of our favorite places to go was Bally Hoo's (sp) it is on a pier and tucked away from the main drag...yummy fish taco's. Are only complaint is that we had to leave! We have already booked for a return trip. About the owner: Have you ever had a Dream? Displayed in our home is a placque that was given to us as a gift. It says DREAM BIG. Our dream was to have a home somewhere in the Caribbean. We had vacationed on so many of the islands. So, every night after work we would take our laptop out on the porch and start to google, realestateSaintSomewhere. Then we’d go there and ask a realtor to show us around. We’d never thought about Mexico until a friend of ours moved there. She asked some of her friends where we should look and they all said “Isla Mujeres.” We said, “where is that?” To make this long story short, we came here, we fell in love with the island and all she has to offer; most especially, her warm and caring people. They are truly amazing. We found the lot, then our wonderful builder. Richard drew the plans. Patricio built the house and I picked all the colors and décor. So, please let us welcome you to Case de Jaguar, Richard & Susan Wright
