Fun, Nice Spot for People on a Budget!

Guest: Alison (Los Angeles, CA)
Date of Stay: 10/02/10 Review Submitted: 10/15/10

My boyfriend rented this apartment for us for three nights while we were visiting NYC for a week. It was pretty perfect! It was very spacious for just two people, and the photos on the website were very accurate. The bathroom is a little cozy, and does not have any towel bars, but was clean and the towels were comfy! We had a small issue with the hot water; it got cold after about 10 minutes, but then warmed up again and was okay. We both took quick showers because we were afraid of losing hot water. Other than that, it was everything I had wanted. It is not four blocks from Central Park, it is four avenues from Central Park; which is still very close and an excellent walk! The apartment was very clean and had nice dishes that were spotlessly clean. The owner was very kind and helpful, and I would absolutely rent from them again and recommend the apartment. My friend from the Bronx spent an evening with us there, and she really liked it too. Excellent location for two twenty-somethings who want to experience NYC life! Nice walk to the subway and lots of fun stuff right outside! Beautiful, quick walk to the East River and a park there. I sipped a Starbucks and walked the area one morning and just loved it. There's a health food store a block north, Starbucks a couple blocks south, and a vegetarian-indian restaurant right beside the apartment building. A 24-hour Duane Reade (drugstore) is across the street, and the subway is about a 10 minute walk. Lots of food and shopping and fun!

Lovely accommodation in a great neighborhood

At first, I was a little weary of visiting NYC as it was my first time in the big city. I must say that the location of the apartment was ideal as it was near Central Park and the east river. There was a plethora of cultural venues and ethnic dining selections. As for the apartment, it was located right on 1st avenue! The apartment was huge for my partner and I with a very welcoming and helpful property manager and owner. The kitchen was also a dream as it was large and everything was new. They offered not only help with what was needed of the apartment but also offered ideas and suggestions as to what to do in NYC. An absolute dream, thank you Sergio and Sarah!

Great Location for Family and small children

Guest: Family trip to the city (Bowling Green, KY)
Date of Stay: 07/15/10 Review Submitted: 07/21/10

My family and I spent a long weekend in the city, and found this apartment to be a great and comfortable location. The area is very family friendly, having Central Park (Met Museum of Art)approximately four blocks to the west and Shurz Park and East River just a couple blocks East. As a note, Shurz park was very nice and perfect for small children as well. Thursday night we took advantage of a free outdoor concert that was a perfect night. The apartment was in very good shape, clean and included new furnishings, kitchen, etc. The bathroom is small but adequate. The apartment is on the second floor, and access is only by stairs, which are relatively narrow. All in all, we were very pleased with our stay. Sergio, the manager of the unit was very helpful and more than accomodating. He supplied and delivered a portable crib for our child to the unit and was available during the stay if issues arose. He also had a referral for a Sedan driver who we found to be extremely reliable also. WOuld recommend this unit for anyone looking for an adventure in the city, particularly with small children.

Family Vacation

Guest: Family of 4 (Angola, IN)
Date of Stay: 07/11/10 Review Submitted: 07/19/10

This was our first NYC trip as a family. The location was great grocery store and health food store near by. Close to express subways, the apartment was very clean the pictures were very accurate. I could even bake a cake in the oven! Sergio was very helpful prior to our visit with all the information materials. Also very quick to respond to any questions I had before and during our stay. I would gladly recommend this rental to someone else and stay there again as well.

Is it NYC ???

Guest: U-jack (Montreal Canada)
Date of Stay: 05/21/10 Review Submitted: 05/27/10

Extremly noisy appartment, dark and poorly furnished but very clean. The sofa bed is so bad that it cannot be used even by kids. A bit of re-furnishing and decoration, a better honesty in their web description telling that the bath room is10sq and that you have to cross all bed rooms to go from the master bed room to the bath room, will improve the quality of the rental. Limited hot water. The only good think in this appartment is that owners are very nice and communicate easily. This has been my worse rental on VRBO.

Owner response:Dear Jack, We are sorry you had such a bad stay and apparently uttlerly hated the apartment. I must admit the review so vastly different from the other guests response that we were certainly surprised. In New York as the ad states "railroad" means that bedrooms are side by side and that you have to walk through the rooms. Regarding the size of the bath... this is New York City. Apartments can be very small here. However the bath is small but it is NOT 10 square feet and this comment is very misleading and inaccurrate. A full sized bathtub could not fit in a 10 sf foot room and code requires certain distances between the tub and the toilet. The apartment is NOT dark as there are two HUGE windows in the back and another large window in the front. Re the furniture: Not everyone likes Crate and Barral style. As the furniture was as pictured I have no other comment. The one accurate comment I think you had was the sofa bed. We have changed it because another guest mentioned it DURING there stay and we changed it immediatly. It was broken and therefore didn't work properly. We would have been happy to have moved you to another apt. if we'd known you were so miserable. And while you were generous in your description of the owners I'm sorry to say that this just the sort of misleading comment that is exactly the "worst" kind for us. It is mostly inaccurate and unfair. You did not give us a chance to remedy or rectify ANY of your complaints. Happlily we have had mostly wonderful guests from VRBO. Most of them are home or condo owners themselves who understand the value of an honest comment and the detrimental nature of a misleading one. We hope for your sake your guests are more considerate. Best Wishes Sergio Kiel

Enjoyed the apartment - excellent location. Very roomy. Two concerns were the street noise and small bathroom (minimal hot water for showers. Overall, however, we were happy with our stay.

I stayed in this apartment for a short break in September. The apartment represents very good value for the area; the owner was extremely helpful prior to the visit. I would definitely stay in the apartment again if in the area.
