Creekside and Private 1 Mile Walk/Ride to Downtown Gatlinburg

We invite you to enjoy a unique vacation home. Make sure to visit our website link below to see even more about our place.
FYI- We now have WIFI, code is on the TV. Please make sure you 'checkin' on facebook when you stay with us.
One of our most COMMON question we have is... Are we hard to get to during bad weather? The answer is NO. We are on a level driveway and on a level lot, easy to get to. We are just right off the 321 Hwy. So if you don't have a four wheel drive you are just fine!
The cabin has a fishing theme with hand painted murals with all updated appliances. A great place to get away, or a cozy place to reunite. There is a wide mountain stream behind the cabin that beckons you to kick your shoes off, jump in, skip rocks, search for minnows and crawdads - just be a kid again.
Our place is located right on Dudley Creek! And we just added a 'water bench' to sit and put your feet in the cool mountain creek!
There is trolley service just a few hundred feet away from the cabin so you don't have to worry about parking or getting to any of the areas attractions. Two of Gatlinburg's finest restaurants are within a 1/2 mile; since you are only 1.3 miles from the center of Gatlinburg.
You can walk by sidewalk to all the shows, attractions, shopping, or eating establishments that Gatlinburg has to offer.
Solace with convenience. There is only one cabin to pass before you get to our cabin(you are not jammed up in a 'development'). Our property is situated next to a residence with a 6 acre tract. Behind your vacation home there is nothing between you and the creek but a level grassy yard.
A very peaceful place to be. Across the creek is nothing but mountains and wilderness to look at with no housing in sight.
Wildlife. So far we have seen families of ducks, deer, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, and lots of wild birds plus the creek is like your own personal outdoor aquarium.
To protect your experience we enforce a nonsmoking policy. We want our next customer's visit to be just as pleasant and special as yours.

This cabin was everything the pictures and description identified and more. It was very clean, organized and did not have that old stuffy smell that hotel rooms have. It was easy to get to and there is a grocery store less than a mile away. We have vacationed in many different vacation homes/condos in different cities, so far this one has the most bed linens, towels, extra pillows, dishes and so forth. It was great not having to go buy extra towels and wash clothes to accomadate our stay. My kids (girls ages, 6 and 9) loved the creek, although there wasn't much water (dry/hot summer). I would recomend this vacation home to friends and family, not to mention we will be renting this one in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind review of our Creekside home in the Smokies. We take great pride in our place as it is our only place there and our families use it personally throughout the year. Our kids love the creek as well and it does vary greatly from the rains from deep to a brook, but is always a place to let them stay cool and play. On our linens, we like you have been frustrated with not enough. One reason this happens is when you have a big company doing your cleaning and laundry service, somehow things just disappear. We work with Nicole, a local lady we have know a long time and trust. She takes pride in her work and always makes sure we have more than enough linens and a clean fresh place to stay. We really hope to have you back and make our place YOUR place in the Smokies anytime! P.s. we love to get fresh meats from Food City just down the road. They are great to grill on the back porch! Good prices also as locals shop there.

We stayed in your cabin for three days during a recent business trip to Gatlinburg. The location was perfect, only three miles away from the Gatlinburg Convention Center where we worked. The cabin was so much nicer than staying in a hotel which I have done in the past. Every morning I would sit on the enclosed back porch and enjoy my coffee while watching nature. I was visited by deer, ducks and a couple of playful squires. Thank you for sharing such a great little place so convenient to everything. Hope to return in the future!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hey, Thanks for your kind response. We don't have a contract with the ducks and deer but they normally provide some visits. We, like you, really like the easy access to downtown. We don't actually use our car in many cases. There are sidewalks all the way to downtown. If you were to visit again you might even try using the trolley systems. We have a trolley stop right across the 321 road at a stoplight for easy crossing. We always try to keep our cabin neat and clean and appreciate you noticing. If you are back in the area we would love to have you stay at the CreeksideGatlinburg cabin again. Thanks again for your stay. Shawn Wilmoth, Owner Creekside Gatlinburg

THE CABIN NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING, VERY DUSTY, CEILING FANS HAVE DIRT JUST HANGING OFF OF THE BLADES, KILLED 4 ROACHES, BACK PORCH FULL OF TREE DEBRIS. MOLDY SMELL UPON ENTERING CABIN THAT WOULD NOT GO AWAY. NO CABLE OR SATELITE TV & THE OWNERS ASKED US TO WASTE A DAY OF "OUR" VACATION TO WAIT FOR A REPAIRMAN. BATTERIES ON LOCK BOX TO THE FRONT DOOR WENT DEAD, TRIED FOR AWHILE TO GET IN BEFORE HAVING TO CALL OWNER. VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE!!! ALSO VERY BAD LOCATION. THIS CABIN WAS OFF THE MAIN ROAD NEXT TO THE CITY MAINTENANCE BLDG. & IMPOUND LOT (NOT VERY QUIET AT ALL). WILL NEVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN. WHERE WERE THOSE DUCKS? NEVER SAW A SINGLE ONE.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/3

The description of the cabin was accurate. The photos reflected the appearance and amenities. The property was clean and well maintained. The owner was very helpful in answering questions. We got locked out of the house and I called the owner and he helped us to get back in. I would recommend this property to friends and relatives. It was also near everything that we went to see. It was like being at home. This is a great place for senior citizens or people with disabilities because it is all on one level and there are no stairs to climb. Also it isn't way up a mountain; it's on flat land. We loved our stay there. I would recommend that they add a bar to hold on to in the tub.Recommended for: People with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My wife and I stayed in this particular cabin due to simple fact that it was very close to town, yet secluded. We did stay over Labor day weekend so it was very busy in the area which took away from some of the quietness that we were looking for, but I am sure that some people will not be bothered by this. The cabin was nicely decorated, and it is obvious that the owners do take pride in the property. They were very quick to respond before, during and after our stay. We would consider staying here again when returning to the area.Owner response: Thanks so much for your review! We appreciate your stay and consideration for the future. We really enjoy the cabin personally and really take pride in decor and personal attention (as we stay there too!). Please let us know if we can ever help you in the future, we would love to have you as a guest any time.

Our family had a great week in Gatlinburg! The cabin was nice and close to town so very convenient! The kids enjoyed the creek and ducks!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your Spring Break comments! It means a ton when folks take the time to type up a note like this. We really appreciate it and we know others do also. This is a great place for families and kids. The ducks really seem to never let folks down. Get your corn and your bread ready if you get to stay at our cabin. This is truly and example of making "our Gatlinburg place on the creek", "your Gatlinburg place on the creek", for spring break!

My family had a great time at this cabin. The house is clean and is nicer in person than it appears in the online photos. My 3 children had a great time playing in the creek and feeding the ducks. The ducks came to the backyard each morning and even showed up late one afternoon while we were grilling hamburgers. We were prepared with bread to feed them! The Nintendo 64 and flat screen TVs were also a big hit. We ate breakfast one morning at the Mountain Lodge Restaurant which is just down the street. It was delicious and not crowded; it appeared to be where the "locals" eat. We also recommend Best Italian Pizza (we ate at the original location). We also did some hiking in the National Park which is a short drive through downtown Gatlinburg. The kids had a great time playing miniature golf on the mountain side at Hill Billy Golf. The owner was quick to respond to my e-mails and phone calls. We would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for you kind comments, Ali. You are right, photos just domt do justice to the decor our wives have done. We like you, enjoy the Mountain Lodge for breakfast. Our kids also really enjoy going up to the cabin and feeding those regulars, the ducks! We hope this is the first of many stays for you and your family at our creeksidegatlinburg cabin! See you soon!

We were able to stay for 6 nights in this wonderful cabin that is close to EVERYTHING. The owners were very prompt with answers to any questions, which is awesome since I managed to lock myself out. The ducks came to visit us as well. The furnishings are beautiful and the whole place feels like home. I would defenitely recommend this cabin and hope to return myself.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad to hear of your stay! We feel that way when we stay as well... Perfect! Good to know those ducks are sticking to our "contract" with them! They always seem available for a visit. We have worked hard on the furnishings to make it a special place to stay. Thanks for your kind words about the decor. I look forward to you coming back soon, and don't worry, you aren't the first to lock yourself out nor the last, I bet! I am glad we could quickly get you back in! We always keep our cell phone on! See you soon!

We loved this cabin because it was close to town, nature, and very private. And you do not have to navigate the steep curvy mountain roads to get to it! GPS could not find the road, glad the owners gave great directions. The cabin was very clean and neat, kitchen was very well equipped. Loved the pottery, colors, and art throughout the cabin. My little boy was fascinated by feeding the ducks in the creek. We loved watching from the deck as a buck and 4 doe ate their breakfast. Owners are very nice to work with and returned calls promptly. We are hoping for a return stay in the spring/summer!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Hey, you guys sound like we do when we stay! I tell folks that call about our cabin about the deer and ducks. I tell them that we see them about every time we go. But they are not "under contract" but normally show up! Also I always suggest the popcorn in a jar for feeding times. The convenience is really great as we walk downtown most stays. Thanks very much for your kind comments and your offer to share them with others. We hope to see you again soon.

We had a really great time at your cabin. The kids (girl age 8 and boy age 13) really enjoyed the creek - looking for minnows and crawdads. The ducks came by every day and we enjoyed feeding them popcorn or bread from the back deck. We had a great time in Gatlinburg. Took one day to go down to Franklin NC (fantastic drive through the Smoky Mountains) for a day of gem mining (my daughter found a large ~70 carat sapphire and my son a really nice emerald!). We will definitely do that again. And, another day at Dollywood (our first time). We had such a great time and we look forward to coming back again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Hey, This is what we like to hear, and do often in our guest book in the cabin. We appreciate you sharing your time with others on our VRBO listing. We can't guarantee the ducks but they are always there when we we go! I hope next time you see some of the deer in the early morning. Corn left at night helps! It is great that we own the property and our property line goes to the the other side of the creek! It sure beats a chlorine filled swimming pool! I think your comments will help others with young family members create a time to remember at our cabin. We are glad you had fun and hope to see you again soon!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We are a family from Jefferson City, Tn. A nearby city just about 45 minutes from our cabin site. We bought this cabin with another couple from Strawberry Plains to enjoy with our families. You see my boys on our trip to Paris in this photo. We love to travel internationally and love to keep our base home here in East Tennessee. We hope you get to stay with us at our little place in the Smokey Mountains.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Stoplight 3:
In the Winter of 2007 we were contacted about this cabin in Gatlinburg by a realtor friend. He told us what a great deal this site was with real space for parking and actual ownership of a beautiful creek. The obvious question was what kind of shape was the home in. Well there again our friend tells us it has just been remodeled with new appliances paint and more! It seemed to good to be true. Let me tell you folks it was not! We three years later have updated the master bath to a large soaking tub and new tile. Other than that the photos you see on our site are the way the house was purchased.
Decor: We added some attractive furniture as the walls had beautiful murals, and wonderful colors already present. My partners wife is very artsy and has much of her pottery and art on the walls. Something interesting to check out, in the screened porch look down and the creative designed vinyl rug. Flip it over at the corner, it's actually, a scrap piece of vinyl flooring that has been hand painted on the BACK to create a unique and gorgeous room rug. There are many more examples of custom art in the cabin. (check out the coffee table, we didn't buy it like that).
We are basically are two families that live in the area that wanted a little get-a-way spot for our families. We decided to start renting the cabin through VRBO as a way to let the cabin earn it's keep. It is has been a great idea and a way for us to fill in the times we aren't using it. We don't want to wear the cabin out but simply choose families and seniors that will respect our property and enjoy the wildlife and privacy this great spot offers.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
What we do: When we go up to the cabin, even around Christmas, we walk with our kids down to breakfast at the Pancake Pantry, in downtown Gatlinburg. It is just about 1 mile and it has sidewalks all the way there. If you get tired and don't want to walk back, you can just catch the trolley. There is a trolley right across the street from the cabin! Another great place we go and eat is the Flapjacks restaurant just down the street. Sometimes during the winter we go up and spend the weekend and go skiing up at Ober Gatlinburg. If the snow is bad you have a no problem getting in and out of the cabin as it is not up the side of a mountain and the roads are so close in town that they are kept clear. You can always drive up to the tram and take the tram up to ski!
