The Loft is part of a paradise that includes a working farm with Rhode Island Red chickens, Boer goats and llamas, and a private lodge. (See ad for Stonehouse Lodge at Allegany Ranch-On the River by the Woods) Our secluded location allows outdoor lovers to enjoy a natural setting among soaring trees, ferns and the West Millicoma River. The Loft is located on a private 40 acre estate and includes an outdoor sitting area complete with a chiminea. Enjoy beautiful views of the Elliot State Forest as you relax next to your very own camp fire. Hike the beautiful onsite trails or venture off the beaten path and explore the myriad of hiking options in the surrounding area. If you have a horse there is a fenced pasture and you can ride the logging trails high enough to be filled with awe as you see the ocean far below the mountains. The river changes from very high in the winter to fairly low in the summer, and if you enjoy kayaking, The Loft is the perfect home base for spring kayaking trips! If you're looking for quiet relaxation, the Loft is a great choice. You can recharge while viewing the bountiful wildlife that live at the Ranch including the river otter that swims in the river at night, or the bald eagle that swoops down the river corridor periodically. Keep an eye out for the herd of elk that pass through the property or catch the deer grazing at night. If you want to leave the Ranch to sightsee, there are also many wonderful places to enjoy.
Attractions:
1. Golden and Silver Falls State Park is about 25 minutes away. Take a picnic lunch and see natures wonder. Hike trails through ferns and trees to each of the waterfalls in about 15 minutes. Water from these falls drop over sheer rock cliffs to huge boulders 100 to 200 feet below. If you are a brave soul you can hike to the top of Golden Falls to get a photographers dream view of the Golden Falls, at a height of 200 feet, plus 40 feet of steep talus cascades just below.
2. Fish Hatchery- Turn left from the ranch and just 4 miles later you reach a little fish hatchery with a full time caretaker who will give you a tour and tell you about the weekly visits by local schools and what students do to help.
3. Dunes-Ride the dune buggies north of Coos Bay on Highway 101
4. Visit the fishing town of Charleston, eat chowder and watch seals in the sea
5. If you love flowers visit the beautiful gardens at Shore Acres
6. Bandon by the Sea offers an old town tourist center to get those gifts for those back at home.
7. Visit the lighthouses up and down the coast for memories of a time they were lifesavers to lost ships.
8. If you are a gambler go to town and spend time at the famous Mill Casino
