Zilker Cottage was originally built in 1934. The original frame and windows remain as well as much of the original hardwood flooring. In 1995, the home was remodeled and expanded to today's design totaling 1100 sq ft of living space in a single story. The home interior features hardwood, granite and marble flooring throughout, beautiful antique fireplace, solid brass fixtures as well as raised and vaulted ceilings. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and two full baths. In the kitchen, you will enjoy a gas cooktop, SubZero refrigerator, cast iron/enamel sink with disposal, microwave and dishwasher. There is extensive, beautiful gardens and a large exotic hardwood deck in the back yard that is completely surrounded by an extra tall privacy fence. The front yard is completely enclosed with a white picket fence. There is a one car carport with lockable gate. (We are happy to provide a queen size rollaway bed or pack and play upon request.)
Perhaps the most impressive feature of this home is its location. Situated just off of Austin's beautiful Zilker Park, the home is just a very brief stroll or bike ride from some of Austin's most sought after destinations: Zilker Park, Barton Springs Pool, Town Lake, Botancial Gardens, Umlauf Sculpture Gardens, South Congress/SoCo District, Auditorium Shores, The Long Center, Zachery Scott Theater and many more. The Texas State Capital Grounds and The University of Texas at Austin campus are just minutes away by car, bike or public transportation. There are numerous dining and entertainment/live music venues within walking distance. If you love the water, Austin's Lake Travis and Lake Austin will certainly be stops on your agenda. Lake Austin is accessible by boat docks about 5 minutes from Zilker Cottage. Lake Travis is a short 20 minute drive -- and well worth it!!

Why the Owner Chose Other Austin Properties
This is my former home and I just loved living in Central Austin right off of Zilker Park. When I met and married my husband, I moved into his home which is just about 5 minutes away from the cottage. So, now we keep the cottage for our friends and family to stay in when they visit, and we also rent it out as a vacation rental since I just can't turn lose of it - it is so cute and I have so many wonderful memories there. I think anyone interested in getting to know Austin and roaming around the Zilker Park/Barton Springs area would simply love my home - it is so charming and you simply cannot beat the location!

Centrally located near Zilker Park, Barton Springs and Auditorium Shores. The home is a 1934 cottage that has been remodeled extensively and has all the modern perks anyone could want. It's cute, convenient and comfortable - it even comes with a white picket fence!
