Why the Owner Chose Stonington
We bought a house in Stonington in the early 90's. We lived in New York and really enjoyed coming to Stonington on the weekends. At first it was mostly in the summer and it gradually became more frequent. We now live in Stonington full time and think it is a great place to live. It is a small close knit community of people from all over the world. It is very quiet and safe.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our cottage is in the middle of Stonington. It is wonderful not having to drive a car to go everywhere. There are restaurants, coffee shops and other retail shops just around the corner. The public beach is a pleasnt walk down the main road. Even key services such as post office, library and bank are an easy walk. Stonington is a great place to go for a walk. The beautiful federal homes and gardens are incredibly well maintained and a delight to see at different times of the day. Stonington is surrounded by water on three side so you are never far from the water. The water looks different every day depending on the time of day, sun and the weather patterns. All of them are beautiful. Every weekend in summer there is some annual event taking place in either Stonington or a nearby town. Mystic which is 5 miles away has a great Maritime Museum and Aquarium. The two casinos (Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun) are about 20 minutes drive away. The Atlantic ocean beaches in Rhode Island are also about 20 minutes drive.
