Why the Owner Chose Whitefish
We live near Calgary, Alberta and we chose to buy a vacation rental in Whitefish because it was a short 5 hour drive from home and it was so nice and quiet compared to British Columbia. Whitefish reminds us of Banff, Alberta...before it was 'discovered' and became an international destination. There is a great local community feel about Whitefish.
When we purchased our unit in Whitefish, we thought we would use it mostly in the summer because there is lots of great skiing back home and we are pretty busy in the winter with the girls playing ringette (similar to ice hockey). But once we skiied at Whitefish Mountain Resort...we were hooked. The snow was incredible and there were almost no lines for the lifts!! It is so quiet compared to a lot of the big ski resorts in Canada. Now we try to come down and ski as much as we can!
We spend most of our summers in Whitefish. The girls swim every day (in the Village, at the city beach or at the Wave). We enjoy hiking, biking and exploring the area. The girls LOVE feeding the ducks near Baker Park. Last summer, we enjoyed horseback riding near Glacier National Park, playing outdoor Laser Tag near Kalispell, and renting quads near Lakeside.

Ptarmigan Village is so unique in the Whitefish area. It is more than 1/2 way up Big Mountain on 52 wooded acres. There is no commercial development...so it feels like you're in a cabin in the woods! There is an outdoor pool and sauna, tennis courts, stocked fishing pond, a new children's playground, and a fabulous indoor pool/sauna/outdoor hot tub.
We really like our unit because it is so spacious (1200 sq.ft.) and it's just minutes away from the new indoor pool, sauna and outdoor hot tub. It's our own little 'cabin' in the woods in Montana. Of course, we love how close we are to the ski hill!

The Weekend was great!!!! The boarding was awesome, we couldn't of asked for better snow conditions. Everyone had a great time. Thanks for letting us stay at your condo. We had a great time and loved your condo!! It was perfect for our family and provided everything we needed. We loved Whitefish, the mountain and the town!! So much that we would like to return next year during the same week. Let's discuss.... What a perfect location; we suited up for skiing, including boots buckled and helmets on, loaded in the car and were up on the mountain in no time with no crowds during the weekdays. We hit beautiful weather (2 days of overcast skiing and 2 days of big blue sky weather), no lift lines and felt like we had the place to ourselves! We have been skiing to other destination resorts and felt like this was every bit as good. The kids could go ski on their own once they were familiar with the mountain. What a fabulous vacation!! We had a great day skiing today. The condo is very nice. Thank you for the great welcoming gift. We enjoyed the rolls and muffins this morning for breakfast. We had some of the "great" bread last night. It was a very thoughtful idea. We appreciated it. As you said, the condo is very close to the mountain and works great.
