Awesome place.....5 minutes to the hill one way 5 minutes to whitefish the other way... Very clean.. Way better than a hotel and price is better to...would and will Recommend to friends.....pool and hot tub are clean and very relaxing After a day on the hill....
Owner response:Hi Darryl, So glad that you choose our place again!! A number of families come back every year or every other year to stay at our place. Ptarmigan Village is truly unique in the area...great location to town and to the ski hill. And we are in a great location in the Village...just steps to the new outdoor hot tub complex! Our unit is one of the cleanest units because that is what is important to me when I travel and it is better than a hotel because you get a fully stocked kitchen and 1200 sq ft....perfect for a larger family or even 2 small families. I hope that you'll stay with us again for your next trip to Whitefish!

We spent the first week of September at the 'Cabin on Big Mountain' and it was just wonderful. From the minute we arrived to find a box of bread and pastries and local coffee on the counter we knew we had found a really great vacation rental. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. Nestled right in among the trees, there is a sense you are alone in the woods as you sit on the deck, yet there are other cabins nearby and a lovely swimming pool / outdoor hot tub just a few minutes walk away. Set up on the side of Big Mountain, the drive into Whitefish took about 10 minutes so you could enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside yet still have easy access to all the local amenities. Whitefish is a beautiful little town, full of interesting shops and restaurants. The lake is perfect for swimming, and there are other lovely towns to visit nearby, such as Bigfork. The property was spotlessly clean and the owner went far beyond what we expected with her helpful advice and suggestions for what to do in the local area. She obviously loves Whitefish and really wanted to help us get the most out of our stay. I have already recommended this property to all my friends and hope to return sometime in the future.

We were looking for a place to stay just to relax and enjoy spending time with our son. This cabin was perfect, it was so quiet and peaceful and the ammenities were wonderful. The cabin was very clean and cozy and the deck was a great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The pool and hot tub were clean and very well maintained and a short walk from the cabin. If heading back to the area we would definitly stay here again.
Owner response:Thanks Kathy! I am so glad that you got some R & R in Whitefish and that our 'cabin' worked out for you. People love the cleanliness of our place...it's part of what brings people back. We would love to have your family stay at our place again! As a first time customer to VRBO...I am thrilled that your experience went well. Vacation rentals are WAY better than any hotel especially when you want a bit more space (especially for kids) and the option to cook a bit!

We had a wonderful weekend at Whitefish. The condo rental was great, had a nice swimming pool and hot tub, and so close to the actually condo we were staying at. The condo itself was great, and a perfect setting. They have kept this place so clean and felt so welcoming. The treats she left on our visit was so good we ended up going to the little shop that she got them from twice. Try the pizza bagels and the crouscant sandwiches. The whole weekend was a success and I definelty recommend staying at this condo. We are hoping to go again in the future when my parents come to visit from BC. Thanks Linda
Owner response:So glad that you enjoyed your weekend in Whitefish and that our place worked out for you. We work hard to make our place feel welcoming. We often have 2 couples or 2 small families enjoy our place...there is plenty of room for all. Ptarmigan Village offers the biggest units in the area (1200 sq ft) and just a 5 minute drive to the ski hill. Way better than renting 2 hotel rooms! Happy to hear that you enjoyed the baked goodies! We would love to have you stay at our place again and bring your parents...I'm sure they will fall in love with the area as well!

June 10-21, 2011 Dear Lisa, Thank you for a place to call home away from home. It was quiet, restful and comfortable. It was so clean, we could move in and enjoy. Everything that was needed was provided to make our stay pleasant. We enjoyed the gift box of goodies upon arrival. It was so appreciated after our very long flights. The relaxing evenings we had while at Lone Pine were so needed. We so enjoyed the black bears around the cabin welcoming us to your Montana cabin each day. The picture of you and your family made it feel really like a home. It was nice to have a face to put with a voice. The Johnsons Neil and Edna Jim and Sue
Owner response:So glad that you found Ptarmigan Village so quiet and restful. There is so much amazing stuff to do in the area...it's nice to have a comfortable place to come home to and just relax. Just to clarify...the black bears that you are referring to are just the cabin decorations, not the real kind! This is our second home...we were happy to share it with you. And thanks for treating our home just like yours!

I have visited Whitefish over the last several years on golfing excursions and during that time stayed in motels, hotels and even another unit at Ptarmigan village, but this unit far and away tops them all. Very clean, nicely appointed, well maintained, with the phone, flat screen tv with cable and wireless internet all operating flawlessly. However it's the little additional touches such as cans of Tim Hortons coffee, condiments in the fridge, spices in the cupboard, toys etc. that make you realize this is a family's second/vacation home not just a rental unit. Was surprised with a box of assorted pastries and fresh bread from a local bakery upon arrival and even though I'm not supposed to endulged in a couple of them...they tasted as good as they looked. I really enjoyed the tranquility with only being a few miles from Whitefish which has great little cafes/restaurants for all tastes and fully stocked grocery stores (Super 1 is my favourite). Also there are plenty of national chain/big box stores located in Kalispell 15 miles to the south. For me I had the best of all worlds and will definitely stay here again.
Owner response:There is such great golfing in the Whitefish area and so affordable! I think it's still a bit of a well kept secret. We would love to have you stay at our place again. Having so many repeat customers means a lot to us. We must be doing something right! Glad you enjoyed the FREE wireless and FREE Canada/US calling. You're right...Ptarmigan Village is so unique in the area. It's our quiet, little 'cabin' in the woods but it's also only 10 minutes to town and 5 minutes to the Whitefish Mountain Resort. We love the shopping in Kalispell too!

Our whole family had such a great time. The accomodations were perfect and so cozy to come back to at the end of the day. Very spacious for all of us. I especially enjoyed sitting on the back deck in the mornings drinking my coffee while everyone else was sleeping. It was very quiet and seemed like no one was around at the time we stayed..Our kids couldnt get enough of the indoor pool. They also loved the secret closet up in the loft, where they spent lost of time playing. The place felt like we were so far away from anything, but yet so close to shopping, dining, etc..The wonderful treats that you provided for us upon arrival were very much appreciated, especially coming so late in the evening. Also seeing that can of Tim Hortons coffee brought a smile to my face. This is definately a home away from home. We hope to stay again next time at your wondeful home! Our whole family thanks you very much for the treats and the wonderful stay we have... Thank you again.......

This condo is better than described! It is very spacious, spotless, nicely decorated and the location truly is like being in a cabin in the woods. Lisa has provided so many extras - from the box of fresh pastries upon arrival, to a binder and folder full of information on local attractions and restaurants, to a printer, to beach towels, snorkel gear, emergency gear and tons of toys! We do not have small children, but we all crawled inside the "secret" toy closet to see what was hidden there! We were in town for a wedding so didn't have time to enjoy the pools, hot tub, etc. I would love to come back and stay longer! The owner was great to deal with as well.

My husband and I and another couple spent several lovely days at the "Cabin". Because of the cedar it created that "rustic" atmosphere. We enjoyed the fireplace thoroughly (wood provided!) and every night we relaxed in the outdoor hot tub. Very quiet resort. Whitefish is an awesome place to go to get away from the city. Beautiful golf courses which we enjoyed daily. Will be back for sure!

We stayed for an extended Labor Day weekend and had everything we needed right down to a beach bag with beach towels for trips to the pool and hot tub. Owner is friendly, responsible and prompt with all communications. The management company provided helpful maps of the complex from the start, and we basically had a free breakfast every morning thanks to the complimentary treats provided when we arrived. The condo is located up the mountain a bit, and the trails and views are spectacular. I highly recommend!

My family really enjoyed the family friendly, yet quite condo and village. The condo was very clean, spacious, comfortable, and well stocked. We had a deer that would visit around 7:30 p.m. almost every night. I really enjoyed the back deck which is actually bigger than pictured. Our kids enjoyed the indoor pool, and the Whitefish Lake beach access. The location is excellent, Big Mtn. is a must see, and we made several trips into Glacier Park "breathtaking". Thank you Lisa for sharing your cabin with us, and all the "extras" we didn't expect.

We had a great time and loved your condo!! It was perfect for our family and provided everything we needed. We loved Whitefish, the mountain and the town!! So much that we would like to return next year during the same week. Let's discuss.... What a perfect location; we suited up for skiing, including boots buckled and helmets on, loaded in the car and were up on the mountain in no time with no crowds during the weekdays. We hit beautiful weather (2 days of overcast skiing and 2 days of big blue sky weather), no lift lines and felt like we had the place to ourselves! We have been skiing to other destination resorts and felt like this was every bit as good. The kids could go ski on their own once they were familiar with the mountain. What a fabulous vacation!! Thanks again for the cozy accomidations for our ski vacation. And thank you for processing the refund so quickly. I appreciate it. Elizabeth & Brett (Bellevue, WA)

We had a great day skiing today. The condo is very nice. Thank you for the great welcoming gift. We enjoyed the rolls and muffins this morning for breakfast. We had some of the "great" bread last night. It was a very thoughtful idea. We appreciated it. As you said, the condo is very close to the mountain and works great. My wife went cross country skiing down in Whitefish at the golf course Nordic center. If you ever need a referral, just let us know. We will recommend it. Bruce & Mary (Minneapolis, Minnesota)

We had a lovely stay in this condo. It is clean and spacious and has all the amenities for a great vacation. Our children loved the bunk beds and the owners even had toys and children's dvd's in the condo. The location in the woods is just beautiful and is quite near to the lake. We will be staying again and recommend it highly.
