The Oven apartment is the third of three in The Bakery. The other two are The Baker's Quarters (VRBO #172604) and The Artist Loft (permanently occupied). Most of buildings along the main streets, such as Fleet, consists of two to three stories in which the first floor was where retail or other business occurred. The upper floors were where the proprietor lived. This is exactly the same arrangement you have at The Bakery after nearly 100 years except that art replaces baked goods as the product. Guests at The Bakery within a day begin to get the feel of the street, how it opens up and how it closes down. With the focus on art, surprised by the vibrant art community in Fells Point and other adjacent neighborhoods, guests at The Bakery have a reason to explore a list of art venues, known to the locals, that otherwise might not be explored. This is The Fells Point Experience.
But this is just the beginning. The Bakery has a set of three of the most unusual apartments in all of Fells Point. There is The Baker's Quarters (VRBO #172604) with its Vertical Kitchen @TM, The Artist Loft (permanently occupied) and now The Oven apartment, named such because the focal point of the approximately 900 sq. ft. apartment is the brick face of the old huge oven which is all that remains of the bakery. The edgy and stage design interiors along with all original art, white burber carpet and unusual lighting provide a sensual experience. The twenty one feet of wardrobe cabinets go largely unnoticed. The use of a glass counter in the kitchen (believed to be the first in America) enhances the other black granite counters. The Bakery is a mini version of The O Street Mansion, the details of which are given to guests for their information and hopefully future exploration. |
