Location: Tulum, Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Mayan Riviera, Mexico (90-Minute Drive from Cancun Airport)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: House
Beautiful, brand new two-story villa, in a guarded and gated community, located near the original ancient Mayan Ruins of Tulum.
Tastefully decorated with furniture made of Salam, one of the strongest and most beautiful woods indigenous to this area. Rich, natural fabrics make up the draperies, chair cushions and accent pillows. This comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath house has a fully equipped kitchen and a combination living/dining area which can provide additional sleeping space. (Lower price for 2-4 people). Washer and dryer provided. Private pool and condo pool, both with Jacuzzi, and an enormous palapa area.
A 90-minute drive south from the Cancun airport, 20 minutes from the famous Sian Ka'an Biosphere (a 1-1/2 million acre protected mangrove lagoon), and a short 5-minute drive to the world's finest crystal clear beaches. If you are travelling from the USA, you are encouraged to rent a car before arriving in Cancun as rates will be lower. If you prefer to leave the driving to others, there are buses and very inexpensive taxis available to take you to and from the Cancun airport, as well as many other places, including banks with ATMs.
After a long fun-filled day on the Mexican Riviera, come back to your beautiful villa and relax. Grill your own steak or fresh fish and enjoy a breezy night in the palapa looking at the stars and communing with nature in the middle of the jungle.
Enjoy a long walk in the town of Tulum, which offers great restaurants and shopping. For a more upscale dinner, take a 5-minute drive to the coast of Tulum, where you will find some very romantic eco-chic places, with a variety of entertainment. Tulum boasts of many convenience stores; Wal-Mart and Sam's are located in Playa del Carmen a mere 40 minutes to the north.

Safe, easy, clean, easy to reserve and very helpful owner. The house is very user-friendly with excellent range, fridge, washer/dryer and a/c. Excellent parking and great main pool. Tulum is very accessible as are beaches and cenotes.

I am happy to say our accomodations were very affordable. The villa was new & large, especially the master bedroom, which is the whole upper floor. The neighbours were friendly & welcoming, which made our stay more enjoyable. Miguel, the caretaker was most helpful with everything. The location was close to town, but next time I would rent a bicycle or scooter for convenience. I would rent her again in the future. Sherri from Vancouver, Canada.
Owner response:Thank you Sherri, we ar very glad you all had a wonderful time. Hope you come back soon. Thanks,

A very nice villa, comfortable, clean, well equipped and close to many attractions. Good restaurants in Tulum and a large supermarket close by. The beaches are fantastic, pick up your fresh fish in the afternoon as fishing boats return. Miguel, the caretaker was very kind and helpful.

We spent Thanksgiving week here with our 3 teenagers and had plenty of room. The house, grounds, and pool are very well maintained. Town is a short drive with many shops and great restaurants. The beach in Tulum is gorgeous and uncrowded with many restaurants to pop into for a snack or drinks. Akumal, where we enjoy snorkeling in the lagoon, is only a short drive north on the main road. We hope to be able to return next year.
Owner response:Thank you Patty, we all are very glad you had a great time! Hope you come back,

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that we had a fantastic time in Tulum last week. Your Villa was wonderful and Miguel (the caretaker) was super friendly and helpful to us during our entire stay. We loved Tulum and we are so glad we decided to stay there versus Cancun or Playa del Carmen. To us they are more like Las Vegas than Mexico. Tulum, on the other hand, was friendly, beautiful, and more concerned with being Mexican than American or European. Your villa was by far the best property we saw in the entire area--it was like being in our own home. It wasn't very close to the beach, but after spending a lot of time on the beach, we were very glad we got a car and stayed at your place instead. This is a trip we will always remember. Thank you!

4 of us spent a week at the Villas Ethel and had a fantastic time! The house is beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and nicely air conditioned. The onsite property managers are extremely friendly and helpful. We felt very safe in the gated community and everywhere that we went. I definately recommend renting a car at the airport in Cancun, as driving around down there is quite easy, and essential to getting around to site see and get to the beach. It was nice to stock up the cooler provided at the house for all of our day trips. We cooked breakfast at the house nearly everyday but ate out most of the other meals, but the kitchen is very accommodating if you wish to eat at home. The home has its own private pool in the backyard, however we were the only guests in the entire complex so we only used the "common" pool in the front yard. Can't say enough nice things about our stay, there is so much to do in the area, I could've stayed a few more nights! As far as things to do in the area, I recommend a Hidden Worlds "adventure tour", the ruins in Tulum, YaKul Lagoon and happy hour at La Buena Vida, fishing in Puerto Aventuras, a day/shopping trip to Playa del Carmen, in addition to relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Tulum. I do not recommend driving all the way through the biosphere to Punta Allen as the dirt road is quite long and the town is virtually shut down from April-October. We did find one place open, but there was no power. Sian Ka'an needs a lot of clean up work, as sadly, most of the area looks like a garbage dump, no thanks to recent hurricans. We also LOVED having Lucky, the neighborhood dog, around since we left all of our pets at home :)

We were two couples with two small children (2 year old and 6 month old). We have stayed at the villa for ten days in mid January. The villa was clean, comfortable and very nice. The villa complex was well maintained and beautiful. The neighbors at the complex were very friendly - once nice couple lent us a map and provided directions to some beaches. We had no trouble at all staying at the villa with small kids. The people in Tulum and the region are very friendly and sincere. We went to Chichen-Itza, Coba, also saw Tulum ruins, went to a number of beaches, cenotes, tried different restaurants, shopped for fruit at Tulum stalls, tried local tortillas... Basically had a great time. If we get a chance - we will be back :)
Owner response:Thank you Gary, everybody at the complex loved your company. It is always nice to have guests like you. Lucy Ricardo 2/1-630-1126

My wife; myself and another couple stayed at the Villa for 9 nights from 3/6 - 3/15 2011. The villa is even NICER than the photos on VRBO would indicate. The master bedroom upstairs is absolutely HUGE with lots of closet space and a very comfortable king size bed. You also have your very own private bathroom. The first floor has two twin bedrooms with 1 1/2 batrhs as well as a spacious living room and dining area. The appliances are all modern and up to date and cooking on the gas stove is a pleasure. Unlike some other properties that we have rented in tropical climates... this unit is FULLY air conditioned; not just the bedrooms. This makes the entire villa absolutely comfortable... even when cooking in the kitchen. The pool and grounds are first rate and both the owner and the property manager are most helpful. Dining out in the Tulum area can be quite expensive; especially at the beachfront restaurants. You can even this out by creating some fabulous home cooked meals in the villa as lots of fresh produce and meats are available at favorable prices in the supermarket. I highly recommend this villa for your visit to the Tulum area..... go SOON... before the airport is completed and the inevitable onsloght of tourists begin to arrive in 2 or 3 years.

We had a fabulous holiday staying at the spacious villa on the edge of Tulum. We felt very safe and well looked after by the groundskeeper and welcomed by the other guests. The house was very comfortable for our family of 5, including 3 teens. It was nice to be in our own space with the pool to enjoy when we were finished with the beach for the day.The area has so many things to do including numerous great restaurants, a wonderful unspoiled beach just a few Kilometers from the town, the ruins, cenotes, a spider monkey reserve, snorkelling, lagoons, shops for souvenirs, food, markets etc. Tulum is a very laid back town to enjoy the Mayan culture. It was great ot have our own transport. We will be back!!
Owner response:Thank you very much for your review Mary Ellen, we really appreciate it. Thanks, Lucy Ricardo
