When you walk in the door of the Downtime Cottage you enter into the ideal getaway experience. The house has everything needed to help you to relax and enjoy a vacation away from all of every day life stresses and activity.

With a unique combination of comfortable furnishings including original art work, plush bedding and towels, a beautiful fireplace and balcony with ocean views. You will also find menus, brochures and a variety of information should you care to partake of all the area has to offer.

There is an open and light kitchen dining area and spacious living room that opens to a balcony with a view of the pool and on a clear day the ocean view reveals sails boats skimming along the sea.

There is a huge bedroom complete with a walk in closet, sitting area and a romantic atmosphere. There are two sofas that can easily be used as sleeping spaces if there are more than two in your party.

We provide extra touches such as bottled water and snacks waiting for you upon arrival. Coffee, tea and all the basics you need are stocked in the kitchen as well.

There is a selection of good reading material; art supplies and music should your soul need that kind of restoration.

You don't have to go far to find something fun to do!
The Beach and Downtown area are within walking distance, as are many other beautiful and historic sites.

You will be delighted with the newly renovated Downtown Ventura. There are wonderful shops, excellent restaurants and even a classic movie theater.

If live theater is more your thing we have a fabulous selection of world class stage, music and even improve theater just minutes away.

There are miles and miles of beaches for you to enjoy as well as the Ventura Harbor. Santa Barbara is a short 30-minute drive up the cost and all the treasures of Los Angeles are just over an hour away.

At the end of the day though you will be able to relax in style at the Downtime Retreat Cottage. Inside you might sit by the fire and watch the ocean and enjoy being still for a change. Outside there is a pool and Jacuzzi right off your front porch where you can sit for hours with the soothing sound of the water spilling out of the pool fountain and infinity water fall.

  • The Knecht's Downtime Cottage is the ONLY place that I stay when I visit Ventura. The space is open, inviting and completely relaxing. I've stayed a handful of times now and love the feeling of having a getaway that is still so close to downtown Ventura - in particular the good-for-you eats at Nature's Grill and the great shoe shopping along Main Street! I highly recommend this location.

  • I've stayed at the Downtime cottage a few times already and I can't recommend it highly enough. I go for short stays to get away from the LA stress and traffic. I just step through the door and feel instantly more relaxed and refreshed. The cottage is spacious - and had everything I needed to just hole up there and forget the rest of the world. I love getting out into Ventura too though - very cute town - lots of great cafes and shops. I would highly recommend the Downtime Cottage to anyone.
