Our stay was very restful. We enjoyed all the architectual elements of the home as well as being able to see the ocean, even when it was stormy. The house was clean and well-maintained and the furnishings very comfy. We recommend this home to anyone who wants to get away from it all and relax,
Owner response:Our location gives our guests a unique perspective of the Oregon Coast storms.

You awake to a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from this gorgeous home nestled in the pines and perched high in the hills of Yachats. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures show and the inside layout is warm, comforting and cozy for those days when you want to retreat from the Oregon Coast rain. For those who would like to commune with nature, a quiet trail in the woods offers some interesting surprises and a chance to see local deer or elk. Even given its modest size, there are many attractions and a great selection of food. After hiking the trails or walking the beach and tide pools, you will probably be on a first name basis with many of the towns regulars. The owners have created a unique getaway that you'll want to return to time and again regardless of your age or gender.

WOW! What an intensely relaxing atmosphere! Sitting high above the world, the ocean view is intoxicating. It is amazing how far you can see from this bird's eye perch. There was plenty of room here and we each had a carved-out corner of this very interestingly designed home. The ceilings are high, giving it a much larger feel, but each sleeping area is uniquely tucked into the design. The use of transient light is lovely, using well placed interior windows and panels to carry the outside light throughout the home. The kitchen is expansive, giving plenty of room to create. At night, we enjoyed sitting by the fire in the rock fireplace, sipping wine and listening to the wonderfully stormy weather combined with the sound of the surf. We'll come back again and again. Thanks for just what we needed!

Some of our immediate family gathered at this lovely home to visit, plan, prepare and relax for my daughter's wedding. We had so much fun finding the treasures in the treasure hunt and finding the artistic and fun creatures along the back woodsy path behind the house. The home is beautiful, well stocked, clean and inviting. The artwork is exquisite! We enjoyed how the home is layed out allowing small conversations in the living room, and larger gatherings on the decks and in the dining room and kitchen. We enjoyed taking care of the plants both inside and outside the home. We appreciate the Amends allowing people to enjoy their home. This does not feel like a rental! Call it home away from home. We'll be back!
Owner response:We attempt to make our house a special place for our guests...comfort,and convenience, for them is important to us!

We fell in love with this home, from the layout, decor and treasure hunt to the trails, wildlife and views! This house with all the extra touches and furnishings welcomes you immediately and makes you feel at home. We drove out this year so were able to bring our own linens, which made checking out a breeze. You are definately on a hill...the trek down to town is fun, with great views and trails but getting back up to the house is a bit more challenging, a little to much for g-ma (good "buns of steel" workout :). The market in town is great as was our lunch at the Drift Inn but with such a well stocked kitchen we enjoyed cooking dinners in and relaxing on the deck for the beautiful sunsets. If you walk the 1/2 block up to the top of Horizon hill you can see the coast to the north, past the Waldport bridge. Hiking and tidepooling at Cape Perpetua is amazing, we also liked the Seal Rock area (best kept secret for seals, beach and tidepooling) and the Dunes in Florence (do a buggy ride to really appreciate), oh and we can't forget that Yachats has a pretty amazing shoreline also. Love the area and this beautifully unique home, can't wait to return! Thank You Kip and Dena!
Owner response:There is lots to do and see on the Central Coast...we appreciate the opportunity to share it with energetic folks such as Kim and Jeff!

We planned our trip to Oregon well in advance and the Horizon Hill house topped off a fantastic vacation. Not only is the house centrally located to so many attractions on the coast, it was the perfect haven for us as a base camp and awesome accommodations. The house is so perfectly decorated and designed in such a way that we just felt like we were in a mansion. My 14 year old granddaughter and myself got the biggest kick out of the "homemade" trail behind the house and all the little goodies that adorned the trail. I truly cannot think of a thing that was missing in the house from the awesome landscaping, breathtaking views, jacuzzi tub & wonderful decks to sit out on & enjoy our bottle of wine! Thank you for making our vacation all that much better and we will be back!!
Owner response:We think the Horizon Hill House is the perfect place for active people, such as Sue & Ron, who want to come back to a restful place to relax after a long day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely home. It is very relaxing, and the perfect place to decompress from the hectic pace of everyday life. We especially enjoyed the sunset views, the magical Robert Grove Trail and all the wonderful surprises that this area has to offer. A few highlights: touring the Heceta Head Lighthouse, discovering hidden and not-so-hidden walking trails and lots of scenery for photography. In our eyes, Yachats is the Gem of the Oregon Coast.

The Horizon Hill House is a fantastic place in which to rest, relax and explore the wonderful area of the Oregon coast and the town of Yachats. During our three day stay, we had great sunny days and one day of fog and drizzle. The home is situated on a high hill, overlooking the ocean and when the weather was great the view was amazing. The trees outside the house are tall and green, making the foggy day we spent inside a treat as well. I highly recommend this place for your vacation or get-away!

Horizon Hill House is like a dream, only better. It's hard to believe that a place this beautiful and magical is actually for rent! It's not just the stunning and imaginative architecture of this intimate, yet spacious home, nor the spectacular view from every window. It's the way you feel the moment you walk through the door: totally at home and one with nature. Inside it's spotless, yet lived-in, full of wonderful original paintings, memoribelia, authentic replicas of ships, good music, movies, games, all the amenities, and even a treasure hunt for the kids at heart. The well-stocked kitchen inspires you to cook gourmet meals (and eat them by candlelight), and the living room allows you to cozy up by the fire with a book (or your sweetie) and never lose sight of the forest and sea. Each of the three bedrooms is unique and charming, two with their own balconies and bathrooms. Outside is...well, suffice it to say you just may not want to leave for a long time. While you are so close to beach access and all the conveniences of the quaint town of Yachats, you also feel totally removed and at peace. There's a reason why I have returned to Horizon Hill House over and over through the years - with family, friends, or alone. It does my soul good. This is the most special place on the coast that I have ever found. To call it a bargain is an understatement. It's a priceless gift to give yourself. You won't regret it.
Owner response:We have had such wonderful guests, as well! We try to make the place a special destination in itself.

This was our second stay at Horizon Hill House and it was wonderful. The view is breathtaking as always even in the rain. Everything you could possibly need is there from linens to dishes to board games. Despite a strong storm one night we never lost power or the TV and the wind could hardly be heard inside. I've never slept better and the kids loved the treasure hunt as always. We hope to come back again some day!

Today we discovered the path, “Robert Grove Trail,” so magical and fun. We walked both directions and found new sightings both ways. Our Women’s group, “WISH” have added to the trail. We hope you approve. We love visiting this house. What a wonderful place for sisterly souls to gather! The perfect storm kept us in pajamas all day! Everything about at this home is awesome. Blessed to be a WISH Sister (Women Inspired Sharing Heart Space).

I don't have enough words to express what a beautiful house you have tucked up in the woods. It is the perfect hideaway. Every room is a treasure in itself; and that stone fireplace is to die for! The house certainly reflects all the love and care you put into it. I took a walk through "your" little forest and could not believe the girth of some of the trees!! It was like I stepped into another time era, so enchanting. Thank you, Dena and Kip, for sharing your special place with me.

We have been staying at the Horizon Hill House for the past nine years. We love it! From birthdays to book groups or to simply get away, it is a great house to relax in and take in the wonderful view. We have seen rain and sun and rainbows ending in the ocean that take our breath away. This house is cozy and comfortable and Yachats is a fun little town to visit. Enjoy!

I have stayed in the home a number of times now and find each experience a delight. No matter the weather, the home adapts so you get the most out of your stay. Our morning walk is down the hill to great coffee in Yachats. Then, a hike back up the hill to the house. Not an easy hike but at least when done we don't have to feel guilty about relaxing the rest of the day. Of course you can take your car if hiking isn't for you. The house is decorated very comfortably throughout, and although the living room ceilings soar you still have a special feeling of being in an inglenook. This area of Oregon is some of the most scenic coastline in the world. I have observed Orcas's feeding in the surf only a few miles from the house. For price and value it would be hard to beat this rental. Highly recommend.

Treat yourself...it is so worth it!
