Perfect Family Thanksgiving in Key West!

This was our 2nd trip to Key West and the second time to rent from Al. The Plantation townhouse is located on a quiet street in the Truman Annex. It was spacious and well decorated for our family of six adults,You actually feel like you are a resident there not just vacationers. The landscaped patio and deck out back with the wet bar and frig provided a quiet place for afternoon happy hour. The colorful and beachy furnishings were well maintained and clean. We loved the upstairs patios off the bedrooms. There were plenty of additional kitchen supplies, flashlights, beach towels even a deck of cards to play. TV's in all bedrooms and living room were great! The location of the condo is within walking distance of bike rentals, The Green Parrot, Mallory Square and Fausto's Food Palace . Al's suggestions for dining and entertainment were great. Sunset at Ft. Zachary State Park is a bike ride away and a change from the Mallory Square commotion! I highly recommend renting from Al. This was a perfect family holiday!!!

On deciding to vacation in Key West for the second year in a row, we knew we wanted to stay in the Truman Annex again. We needed a bit more room than the place we stayed last year, so researched other units and fell in love with The Plantation - first "on paper", then in person. Al (the owner) was extremely easy to work with and went out of his way to answer questions and help make our arrangements. The unit itself was clean, spacious, well-equipped and made us feel at home. We will definitely stay here again if we have the chance to visit paradise soon!

I took my daughters on a "girls trip" to Key West and stayed at this home. It was lovely, in a wonderful location, clean and fresh. Located close to Duvall Street, but in a quiet neighborhood in Truman Annex, we were able to relax when we wanted, AND play among the tourists when we wanted. Al was very responsive and I would rent from him again, and would certainly recommend this place to anyone who asked.

this is the ultimate in key west living...the entire family had enough room to enjoy there own vacation and still be under the same roof..the back yard was like your own little tropical gardern with brightly colored birds visiting us threw out the day and evening.both of the bedrooms on the second floor had enough living space to enjoy conforts of home..my son and his bride were delighted to be so close to duval street and to fort zak...we loved it...thanks Al..we'll be there again next year for sure..Joey,Sherry, Joe Jr.,Kim....

On our 5th trip to beautiful Key West, we found the rental property of our dreams with this property! It's beautifully maintained, and is situated perfectly between Mallory Square and the entrance to the Ft. Zachary State Park Beach. All week we found additional features to delight us, from the fully stocked kitchen (including every spice you'd ever need) to the wet bar on the patio, right down to the coach with dual recliners! Our friends reported the murphy bed in the first floor bedroom was one of the most comfortable they'd ever experienced, and with 3 full baths we were all able to get ready for a night out in record time! We're looking forward to coming back in 2011, and hope you get a chance to experience THE PLANTATION in the meantime!

Truman Annex, the Plantation was an excellent town home within a gated community. There was plenty of room, the unit is well appointed, maintained and decorated. We had all the comforts of home, including the kitchen stocked with supplies & spices. Although we were here for a destination wedding and we eat out mostly, but it was good to know these items were there. Great location within walking to Duvall St activites - Favorites: Sloppy Joes for the food and drinks, Irish Kevin's Bar entertainment, Kelly's Caribbean Bar & Grill - patio area, & Mallory Square for the sunset. This was our home away from home! Thanks Al.

I just got back from a wonderful week in Key West with my entire family. We were in town for my cousin's destination wedding and rented three homes in the Truman Annex. Needless to say, our family was out our rental, the Plantation, every night. Well decorated, fully equipped kitchen and a grill ready to go with a quaint backyard perfect for letting the kids run around. Al was a pleasure to work with and provided us with helpful information about attractions and restaurants to visit before we left. I truly felt like it was our home away from home. We will be back to the Plantation!

We had a wonderful experience staying at this beautiful home. This was our tenth trip to Key West and we have always stayed in the Truman Annex area. The Plantation is now our favorite! It is decorated beautifully and is appointed with many amenities including wonderful flat screen TVs in all the rooms. We enjoyed the amazing outdoor living space which was fantastic for eating, relaxing or enjoying the warm weather. My family and I highly recommend this location and will be back as return visitors hopefully very soon.

We just got back from spending a week at The Plantation. The location could not be better. The five of us walked everywhere and I do mean everywhere. The house is so comfortable, clean and in a safe area. We hope to return.

The Plantation is a lovely home! It is decorated very nicely and appropriately for Key West. It is located close to all of the action of Key West, but it is in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. It accomodates 6 adults very comfortably. The back yard is private and tranquil. I highly recommend The Plantation and in fact have booked my vacation there for next year already.

We stayed at the Plantation in April 2009 and could not wait to book again in April 2010. Of all the vacation rentals and destinations we have had over the years, our most enjoyable was the Plantation in Key West. The townhome is absolutely beautiful and well appointed. Our favorite aspect of the townhome was the outdoor patio and garden area. It is such a relaxing, little tropical oasis, and when we were not site seeing, we spent most of our time out there. The townhome is also within walking distance of everything in downtown old Key West. We could not have asked for a more perfect venue. If you visit Key West, you have to stay at the Plantation!

My family of 5 stayed in The Plantation for a week (too short)for the first time since being a former property owner in the Keys. We were hoping that our 'vacation home' would meet our expectations. I can assure anyone that The Plantation far exceeded our expectations! It was roomy; beautifully decorated with tropical artwork throughout; quality furnishings; spotlessly clean; had complete amenities; a cozy and romantic tropical garden in back to sip coffee or wine; was within walking distance to everywhere (well, maybe not to No Name Pub in Big Pine and Bahia Honda); very comfortable for 5 of us with a great new bed; lovely private, safe neighborhood with friendly workers who greeted us as we walked everywhere; private, tropical walkways to the pool; everything was terrific including the owners who sent vast information prior to arriving and who made 'checking in and out' simple and convenient. The owners are great - friendly, responsive, and accommodating. This was our home away from home for a week and we will definitely return! Don't forget to sign the quest book and read the guests comments when you stay at the Plantation. The guests all agreed! This is the place to stay in Key West!

I HAVE BEEN TO KEY WEST AND RENTED OTHER PROPERTIES BUT THIS ONE IS THE BEST SO FAR. THE CONDO HAD EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT. THE DECOR WAS NEW, CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL! WE WERE IN WALKING DISTANCE TO DUVAL AND FORT ZACHARY. I WOULD SUGGEST A SCOOTER IF YOU ARE WALKING TO AND FROM THE BEACH EACH DAY. PLACES TO VISIT, GREEN PARROTT, LA TORRE (ITALIAN), SEBEGO EXCURSIONS, CAROLINES, TWO FRIENDS, MALLORY SQUARE. WE WILL BE BACK! THEIR WERE 6 OF USE. THE 3RD COUPLE USED THE DEN WITH FOLD OUT COUCH ONE NIGHT. IT WAS NOT AS CONFORTIBLE AS THE BLOW UP MATRESS THAT I FOUND IN THE CLOSET (THAT REALLY SAVED US)

Owner response:Great news, The fold out couch in the den is being replaced with a Murphy Bed with a real matress effective July 8. I knew that some do not like fold out sofa's which was why I keep a blow up in the closet--Just in Case :) Al Metty

This home is within walking distance to everything. It is very safe area. The house is beautifully decorated. As soon as you walk in and see the hardwood floors, you fall in love with it. The bedrooms are roomy and the bathroom upstairs is huge. We spend most of our time on the back deck grilling or just relaxing. We enjoy the beach nearby along with the pool. We have rented twice and when you walk in you feel like you are at home.

My husband and I stayed at the Plantation and highly recommend it to any one looking for a great Key West Location. A very nice, clean, comfortable townhouse in a secure community yet minutes away from the heart of the historic location. You can walk to many of the great Key West sites, great restaurants yet when you want solitude you cozy up in a beautiful garden courtyard that is your own little paradise in paradise.

From the instant we arrived, (2 couples), it fealt like we were at home. The garden was beautiful - we spent most of our time there; and it was a great spot to keep our bicycles - which we used for transportation - never used my car. Deck overlooking garden was excellent for grilling (electric grille provided), cooking shrimp, and sipping Margaritas. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner inside - the kitchen was very well equipped. Bedrooms were spacious, especially the master, with a huge balcony for morning coffee overlooking the garden. The Annex is very quiet - no problem for light sleepers - I slept like a log every night. The unit is within walking or biking distance of EVERYTHING, including the best beach in Key West, a fine grocery store, and a seafood market. And, it's only a block from my favorite bar in Key West: The Green Parrot. We didn't want to leave, writing this review makes me wish I was still there, we plan to rent the same unit next year. Bottom line- if you love Key West, you will love this unit. P.S. For boaters: I spoke to the Dockmaster at the public Marina, which is about 2 miles from the unit. He said if you call in advance, you can store a boat on a trailer and use the ramp, and a slip, for $50.00 a day. That's a bargain in my view, since the marina gives you access within 10 minutes to the ocean and Florida Bay - and no way you can rent a boat for that price.
